Shrek (1990) is a children's picture book written and illustrated by American cartoonist William Steig. Shrek, the movie, was followed by three sequels-Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek the Third (2007), and Shrek Forever After (2010).
Toward the end of the film, there is a scene with Shrek and Donkey riding Dragon to the castle. The close up shot of Dragon's head is very similar to the scene in which Bastian is riding Falkor in The NeverEnding Story.
