It has some funny moments

Of all the early forgotten comics, one of the better ones you might want to check out is the poorly named Larry Semon. Of course, a few of his films are duds (such as his full-length "Wizard of Oz") but mostly he created a long string of films that can't help but make you laugh...and "The Suitor" is no exception.

In this film, Larry is trying to get into a fancy party because the host's daughter is Larry's sweetie. But the family wants nothing to do with the poor Larry and he spends much of the film trying to get into the place. And, not surprisingly, it also involves a lot of stunts, such as his being tossed out a second story window into a pool and the like. Later, after successfully getting her, there is a chase...something you actually see in MOST of Semon's films...and mostly because he could do chases like no other.

The bottom line is that although the short has a few lulls here and there, it also has plenty of laughs and athleticism. And, as for the funniest part? It might also be the stupidest, but I liked the exploding hamburgers bit...and I couldn't help but laugh.
