Pop icon Miley Cyrus‘s mother, Tish Cyrus, responded to a claim made by their ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, in a 2011 interview with GQ when Billy Ray had stated Hannah Montana had “destroyed” their family.
When asked about Billy Ray’s assertion on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Tish firmly stated, “Absolutely not.”
Tish’s older sister, Brandi, also present for the interview added that their family was far from destroyed and asserted that they were doing great.
Billy Ray’s comments came at a time when he had recently filed for divorce from Tish after nearly three decades of marriage. Their divorce coincided with the conclusion of his four-season run on Hannah Montana. Meanwhile, Cyrus was propelled to fame by the show and her perceived rebellious behavior.
Billy Ray told GQ, “[‘Hannah Montana’] destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now — the d— show destroyed my family.”

Justin Timberlake is back!
In late April, the former ‘Nsync member will be embarking on his Forget Tomorrow World Tour. It will be in support of his upcoming studio album, Everything I Thought I Was, which is set to release on March 15.
The tour is scheduled to begin in Vancouver and make stops in cities like Tulsa, Atlanta and Chicago, before his concluding concert in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 9.
Timberlake seems relaxed about his tour preparations, though. Over the weekend, he co-hosted Saturday Night Live with Dakota Johnson. He also did a Bee Gees sketch of the Barry Gibb Talk Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Last Thursday, Timberlake released his newest song, “Selfish.”
Timberlake made headlines last fall after Britney Spears released her memoir and revealed details about an abortion during her relationship with Timberlake.

Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé is a hit!
Beyoncé‘s concert film, which was written, directed and produced by Beyoncé, topped the domestic box office with $21 million in its opening weekend, slightly ahead of expectations, via Variety on Sunday (December 3).
Keep reading to find out more…
It’s one of the best debuts for a concert film, following Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour ($92.9 million), 2008’s Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert ($31.1 million), 2011’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never and 2009’s Michael Jackson: This Is It ($23.2 million).
It’s the first time in two decades a film has opened to more than $20 million on the weekend following Thanksgiving, which is a notoriously slow time.

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the Season 14 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy. If you haven’t watched yet, you might want to do that — stat — before reading further.
We’d heard over the summer that Season 14 of Grey’s Anatomy was going to be “funnier… sexier… lighter,” and if Thursday’s zippy premiere is any indication, that might have been an understatement. In the two-parter — penned by the ABC drama’s former executive producer/head writer, Krista Vernoff, who only recently rejoined Team Grey’s as co-showrunner — Owen and Nathan were happily reunited with Megan (who, upon seeing her brother,...

We look back at one of the most infamous film productions in history. Here are 10 stories of excess from Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate...
In 1979, director Michael Cimino was at the height of his powers. Having just won five Oscars for his finely-honed, controversial Vietnam film The Deer Hunter, Cimino suddenly found himself in the enviable position of being able to make just about any project he wanted. The film he chose to pursue was based on the Johnson County War, a moment in 19th century American history where the conflict between settlers and wealthy landowners was at its height.
United Artists, with a reputation for fostering creativity and Oscar-winning films, eagerly agreed to make what would become Heaven's Gate, and set aside a generous budget of $11.6m to make it. Anxious to have the film in cinemas by the winter of 1979, making it legible...

No Dashboard Lights: Diablo Cody’s Contrived Directorial Debut
Arriving with about as much finesse as the plane crash that fatally incinerates its protagonist is Diablo Cody’s directorial debut, Paradise, which the Oscar winning screenwriter also penned. The only curious element is that the film feels like a precursor or sketch of something that would have occurred in Cody’s resume before Young Adult, the 2011 film that saw her reteaming with Jason Reitman for a darkly comedic look at modern female body horror, where inside scars rise profusely to the surface. Whereas Charlize Theron’s beauty queen harpy Mavis’ internalized emotional trauma rumbles like an earthquake from the inside out, this time round we get a burned up Julianne Hough, whose physical deformations cause change from outside on in. As intriguing as Cody’s debut may sound as a sister film to her previous lacerations of feminine identity, her...

A stark documentary about women in Muslim majority societies, and the misogyny that darken their existence. Director Paula Kweskin focuses on the activists fighting the cir-cumstance of this misogyny, brave and outspoken women who have battled through their own situations in the Muslim patriarchy. This is short but has impact, as example after example of women who disgrace the “honor” of a family – her indentured servitude is somehow tied into a family reputation – are punished for no reason. With the dawn of a new NFL season, we take a look at how Madden NFL became a sports video game revolution and took over the gaming gridiron.
The Madden NFL series has brought in more than $3 billion in revenue for EA over the last three decades. In that time, the game has transcended both the video game industry and even the man who originally lent it his name. “Madden” to most people these days is not a legendary head coach and color commentator - but a video game.
Even John Madden himself admitted as much way back in 2002 in an article in the Los Angeles Times.
Madden was in a hotel room in San Francisco when a Philadelphia Eagles player walked in asking, “Where’s Madden?”
Everyone else in the room pointed to the then Fox commentator.
“No, not that Madden,” the player said. “I want the game.

Attendees of South by Southwest 2012 are in for a treat. 130 feature films will screen at the Austin, Texas festival taking place March 9-17. Among them are 65 World Premieres, 17 North American Premieres and 10 U.S. Premieres. The organization already announced [1] Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon's The Cabin in the Woods would open the festival (the movie is phenomenal [2]) and today the majority of the remaining line up has been revealed. One of the highlights is the unbelievably smart and hilarious 21 Jump Street, directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller. Both of those are World Premieres. Other highlights include The Hunter, Killer Joe, The Babymakers, frankie goes boom, God Bless America, The Imposter, The Raid, Bernie and Casa de mi Padre just to name a few. After the jump, read descriptions of all the films that have been announced so far. Before I copy and paste the rest of the list, a few minor notes.

One of the most fun films of the summer, Captain America: The First Avenger, is coming home on Blu-Ray and DVD today. Also joining Cap is the new Winnie the Pooh feature that is utterly darling, Cameron Crowe celebrates Pearl Jam with Pearl Jam 20 and the Jurassic Park trilogy gets the Blu-Ray treatment.
Captain America: The First Avenger: Chris Evans makes his superhero debut in the wildly successful Captain America: The First Avenger. This origins story knocked our socks off when it hit theaters this past summer. Set in World War II, Evans is Steve Rogers, a scrawny young adult who yearns for nothing more than to defend his country. When Stanley Tucci’s scientist enlists him in a super soldier test program, he becomes the American hero of his dreams. Extras abound on this DVD and Blu-Ray including sneak peeks into the world of the upcoming The Avengers.

Truth & Justice = The American Way? Is this concept an anachronism in the wake of the wars that our colonial cousins have waged during the intervening chasm between the noble Second World War and today’s resource driven mêlée? When you consider Mỹ Lai, Guantanamo, Fallujah and Sarah Black’s Friday, will the full horror of their war crimes forever tarnish the noble principles of the founding fathers? Well, the answer to that won’t be found here as this is a film review site, you’d best bugger off to Time or The Economist as we’re here to talk about Captain America: The First Avenger, the last superhero blockbuster to invade the silver screen, and the final pinch of ingredients prepared in the formulation of next year’s much anticipated Avengers tent-pole movie.

The filmmaking community lost one of the true greats over the weekend: New York based director Sidney Lumet died on Saturday at the age of 86.
With a vast body of work ranging from "12 Angry Men" in 1957 to his final film in 2007, "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," there's no doubting that Lumet's influence on the movies industry was a profound one. After the jump, we're remembering the dearly departed director by looking back at some of our favorite Lumet pictures.
"12 Angry Men"
Lumet's adaptation of the beloved teleplay and stage play perfectly captured the increasingly intense and claustrophobic nature of the jury selection and verdict-reaching process, a film that was further enhanced by fantastic performances from acting legends like Henry Fonda, Jack Klugman and more.
"Serpico"
Al Pacino has made a name for himself playing some of the most ruthless gangsters in American cinema from Michael Corleone to Tony Montana,...

This needs to be stated matter offactly from the get go. Henry Winkler is the nicest guy in Hollywood. We hadmet him several years ago at a book signing for one of the installments in his Hank Zipzer children’s book series, andwe walked away feeling all warm and fuzzy about The Fonz. So when we got theemail last week about an upcoming conference call interview with the Happy Days icon, we were very excited. Not only did he not disappoint us, we could tell the every single person on thephone was genuinely touched by his kindness of spirit and generosity of time.
He might have been there to promote Royal Pains, which he did with grace, but he touched on a career full of pop culture jewels, gave some heartfeltadvice and even gushed a bit about our home town. He covered so many...

She first became known as Jen Lindley on the popular "Dawson's Creek," now Michelle Williams, 30, has a noteworthy acting resume, having starred in such films as "The Station Agent," "Brokeback Mountain" and "Shutter Island." The actress has often appeared in dramatic and serious indie films that have frequently been under the radar.
In 2005, Williams was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2005's "Brokeback," and five years later received another nod for "Blue Valentine,...

The 8th annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is all set to run for ten days this Feb. 11-20 in Missoula, Montana. This year, the fest will have a whopping 140 film programs, a growth that necessitates an expansion from its regular home at the Historic Wilma Theatre — where it will occupy two screens — to also feature screenings at the former Pipestone Mountaineering store.
Special events at the fest include a free opening night screening of How to Die in Oregon sponsored by HBO Documentary Films. The film, directed by Peter D. Richardson, examines the impact the legalization of physician-assisted suicide has had on the state. (In 1994, Oregon was the first state to legalize the practice.)
Also, indie rock band Yo La Tengo will perform their acclaimed live score of the films of pioneering French underwater documentary film director Jean Painlevé, something they have done for other film festivals all over the world.

Her co-star reckons she's 'a cross between Brigitte Bardot and Clint Eastwood'. Not bad for a former star of Dawson's Creek
In its 11-year lifespan, America's teen network The WB was a highly visible training ground for a vast army of young actors. But the unblemished skin and wounded stares that can make a young star irresistible to adolescent audiences don't always guarantee a long and fulfilling career. The ensembles of such WB staples as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Felicity, 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls and Charmed experienced variable fortunes in their quests to be accepted as non-angsty adults. Some actors – Jessica Biel, Keri Russell and David Boreanaz among them – made smooth and successful transitions. Others less so.
But no WB graduate has put as much distance between themselves and their small-screen origins as Michelle Williams. Sorry, make that creatively daring, critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated Michelle Williams. Or, as Ryan Gosling...

It's Cheyenne On Glee! Squeeeee!
I thought I'd start of this week's column with some fun new pics I found recently!
First, I've got the exclusive first look at Cheyenne Jackson's first appearance on Glee as Will Schuester's new rival Dustin Goulsby.
Don't you love a man in black!
Adam Rose/Fox
In case you don't remember, last month Glee creator Ryan Murphy told me that Jackson "...is going to sing. He is going to dance, of course. He is the new coach of Vocal Adrenaline. He’s a complete villain. He wears all black. He’s a handsome, villain who will become very intertwined in Will’s life."
And we can't wait for Cheyenne's appearance on Tuesday's ep!
Speaking of things I can't wait for is new Torchwood miniseries (Ha! Whoever threw the rotten cabbage at me missed!) so to tide us over are two new pics I spotted of John Barrowman.

In addition to being an iconic star in the underground music scene, Nick Cave has also carved out an incredible niche for himself in the film world. He worked on the music for "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," penned the screenplay for the 2005 indie hit "The Proposition" and contributed to the Leonard Cohen tribute film "Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man." His most recent project is his most intriguing yet. According to the Wrap, Cave is working on a screenplay for a remake of "The Crow," the 1994 action film directed by Alex Proyas about an undead avenger (originally played by Brandon Lee). The original flick was a Goth-punk asskicker of a movie that was incredibly dark and featured a killer soundtrack (featuring Nine Inch Nails, the Cure, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against the Machine and the Jesus and Mary Chain), and the new version (to be...

This is a "Battleship" that isn't going to be sunk. The cast of director Peter Berg's Hasbro board-game adaptation is far from complete, but it just grew a little bit larger.
Alexander Skarsgård is the latest confirmed cast member, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.
The "True Blood" star joins previously announced leads Taylor Kitsch and Tadanobu Asano. He will play the brother of Kitsch's character, a "straight and narrow naval officer" who is idolized by his "wildly spirited" sibling.
"Battleship," a summer 2012 release, is still shrouded in secrecy. All that is known of the waterborne warfare story is that it pits a multinational fleet of Earth's fighting ships against an "armada of otherworldly origin." The script comes from Erich and Jon Hoeber,...

Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur, the trio behind Olive Prods., have set up their first TV projects: a drama at HBO starring Tucci and an animated comedy at TBS to be voiced by Tucci and Buscemi.
The projects stem from Olive's first-look deal with Lionsgate Television, which is on board to co-produce the shows.
The untitled HBO project, written by "Six Degrees" co-creator Stu Zicherman, is a family drama with Tucci as a brilliant, one-time powerful politician struggling to rebuild his career and relationships with his family and friends after being brought down by a scandal.
Zicherman, Tucci, Buscemi and Arthur are executive producing.

It's a rough month to release a new album, because no matter how many units you move, the figure will likely pale in comparison to the massive posthumous numbers being put up by Michael Jackson. The following is a list of accredited, degree-granting acting programs at colleges and universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. It includes schools that grant either a degree in acting or a degree in another major that has an acting component or concentration. It does not include programs in directing, playwriting, design, or other specialized fields. For programs in dance, see the list that follows this one. Both lists are in the process of undergoing major revisions; therefore, not all information is complete for all schools.Undergraduate programs are listed first, followed by graduate programs, each divided by state. In general, B.A. and M.A. programs are more academic in nature (though they may offer a performance component or concentration), while B.F.A. and M.F.A. programs focus on training professional performers. An A.A. is a two-year junior college degree. The list also includes...
