The film opens with Wallace & second wife Cornelia (Jolie) passionately embracing on their bed. She is in negligee and he is fully clothed. No sexual nudity in the film. Some sexual innuendo in various conversations.

A fair amount of violence related to civil rights protests with police very aggressive towards protesters. Some actual archival footage as well as film.

Lots of profanity of various sorts.

Lots of smoking - cigars and cigararettes -- by main characters.

The protest scenes are quite violent although not overly graphic. There is an assassination attempt at point blank range and a woman dies in the hospital after a prolonged illness.
