A rare real "zero stars" movie
gridoon202413 August 2008
You know how people often say "even I could make a better movie than this" when they watch one they don't like? They're exaggerating, of course. But in the case of "Toad Warrior", they may actually have a point. Since this "movie" - more accurately, a collection of random images posing as a movie - has no script, no professional camera-work, no professional actors (and those who are professional certainly don't act like it), and absolutely no production values, it gives you the impression that it could have been made by a bunch of college kids on a weekend trip - although if it HAD been, it would probably be more entertaining than this. Yesterday I watched "Rollergator" by the same director (and with some of the same crew): although it was awful as well, it had a certain surreal charm to it. This one has no charm - it is simply a big FU from the director to the audience (and even to the fans of the original "Hell Comes To Frogtown"). If you do decide to watch it, my guess is that you won't last to the end. Any takers?

Hell comes to Frogtown meets the Roller Blade Seven
wolfhell8815 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
"Toad Warrior" is a mixture between "Hell comes to Frogtown" and "The Roller Blade Seven" without the charm of the original "Frogtown" movie. Joe Estevez as Mr. Big Micky O Malley gives this one a fine comedy touch, legendary Conrad Brooks appears again as the Swamp Farmer (like he did in "Rollergator" and he is talking here with his baby alligator, too).

It's not a bad movie but it is nerving to see the same scenes repeating again and again. The budget wasn't very high so you see people wearing frog masks but the rest of their body especially the hands are human.

Scott Shaw looks like he came from the set of "RB 7" without having the time to change his clothes. He plays Max Hell, who is surrounded by a lot of pretty girls ("I know you, you have your own homepage"). He plays the hero tough with a fine comedy style.

It's a very strange and bizarre action-comedy with Donald G. Jacksons impressive visual style which makes him different from other Filmmakers. Watch it and enjoy it!

insect Surfers !

A reviewer here hilariously (and fairly accurately) reviews this as a ZERO STARS movie, but I'd give it a '2', ha! The (ahem!) saving grace is that the soundtrack is primarily instrumentals by my band ' Insect Surfers' ("Planet Earth's Longest-Running Modern Surf Band') !!! I think we may have been paid 150.00 but?, and we didn't see the movie until after it came out. But it was a thrill to hear our music, so I will blatantly and self-servingly give it a "10" rating !

It's funny, our music (and a version of our band live) was also featured in "Alien Beach Party Massacre" , which came out the same year,1996. THAT movie.rated a 4.9 and was so cheap that the alien is disguised as.... a soccer ball !!!
