-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [Quoting "Moby Dick"] And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.
Lily Sloane : What?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : "Moby-Dick".
Lily Sloane : Actually, I never read it.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Ahab spent years hunting the white whale that crippled him, a quest for vengeance, but in the end, it destroyed him and his ship.
Lily Sloane : I guess he didn't know when to quit.
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : Captain, I believe I am feeling... anxiety. It is an intriguing sensation. A most distracting...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Data, I'm sure it's a fascinating experience, but perhaps you should deactivate your emotion chip for now.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Good idea, sir.
[beep]
Lieutenant Commander Data : Done.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Data, there are times that I envy you.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : The Defiant?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Adrift but salvageable.
Cmdr. William Riker : Tough little ship.
Lt. Commander Worf : Little?
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I'm about to commit a direct violation of our orders. Those of you who wish to object, you do so now. It will be noted in my log.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Captain. I believe I speak for everyone here, sir, when I say...
[pause]
Lieutenant Commander Data : To hell with our orders.
-
Lily Sloane : Jean Luc, blow up the damn ship!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No! Noooooooooo!
[Smashes glass and model ships with his phaser]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I will not sacrifice the Enterprise. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They invade our space and we fall back. They assimilate entire worlds and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further! And *I* will make them pay for what they've done!
Lily Sloane : You broke your little ships.
[leaving]
Lily Sloane : See you around, Ahab.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Initiate auto-destruct sequence. Authorization: Picard, 4 7 Alpha Tango.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Computer, Commander Beverly Crusher. Confirm auto-destruct sequence. Authorization: Crusher, 2 2 Beta Charlie.
Lt. Commander Worf : Computer, Lieutenant Commander Worf. Confirm auto-destruct sequence. Authorization: Worf, 3 7 Gamma Echo.
Computer : Command authorization accepted. Awaiting final command.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : This is Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Destruct sequence: Alpha 1. 15 minutes, silent countdown. Enable.
Computer : Auto-destruct in 15 minutes. There will be no further audio warnings.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : So much for the Enterprise-E.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We barely knew her.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Think they'll build another one?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Plenty of letters left in the alphabet.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The economics of the future are somewhat different. You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th century.
Lily Sloane : No money? You mean you don't get paid?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of humanity. Actually, we're rather like yourself and Dr. Cochrane.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Reports of my assimilation have been greatly exaggerated.
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : [about the Borg Queen] She brought me closer to humanity than I ever thought possible. And for a time, I was tempted by her offer.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : How long a time?
Lieutenant Commander Data : 0.68 seconds sir. For an android, that is nearly an eternity.
-
Lily Sloane : You gotta go?
[Picard nods "Yes"]
Lily Sloane : I envy you... the world you're going to.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I envy YOU... taking these first steps into a new frontier. I shall miss you, Lily.
-
[Picard takes the phaser from Lily, and inspects it]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Maximum setting. If you had fired this, you would have vaporized me.
Lily Sloane : [sheepish] It's my first ray gun.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Worf... I regret some of the things I said to you earlier.
Lt. Commander Worf : "Some"?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : As a matter of fact, I think you're the bravest man I have ever known.
Lt. Commander Worf : Thank you, sir.
-
[Picard puts his hand on the Phoenix]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : It's a boyhood fantasy... I must have seen this ship hundreds of times in the Smithsonian but I was never able to touch it.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Sir, does tactile contact alter your perception of the Phoenix?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Oh, yes! For humans, touch can connect you to an object in a very personal way, make it seem more real.
[Data also puts his hand on the Phoenix]
Lieutenant Commander Data : I am detecting imperfections in the titanium casing... temperature variations in the fuel manifold... it is no more "real" to me now than it was a moment ago.
Cmdr. Deanna Troi : [observing from a catwalk] Would you three like to be alone?
-
Cmdr. William Riker : We finished our first sensor sweep of the neutral zone.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Oh, fascinating. Twenty particles of space dust per cubic meter, 52 ultraviolet radiation spikes, and a class-2 comet. Well, this is certainly worthy of our attention.
Cmdr. William Riker : Captain, why are we out here chasing comets?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Let's just say Starfleet has every confidence with the Enterprise and her crew - they're just not sure about her Captain. They believe that a man who was once captured and assimilated by the Borg should not be put in a situation where he would face them again. To do so would introduce "an unstable element to a critical situation."
Cmdr. William Riker : That's ridiculous. Your experience with the Borg makes you the perfect man to lead this fight.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Admiral Hayes disagrees.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : Sir, we have lost the Enterprise. We should not sacrifice...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We have not lost the Enterprise, Mr. Worf. We are not *going* to lose the Enterprise. Not to the Borg. Not while I'm in command.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : It's not too late. Locutus could still be with you. Just in the way you wanted: an equal. Let Data go, and I will take my place at your side. Willingly, without any resistance.
Borg Queen : Such a noble creature. A quality we sometimes lack. We will add your distinctiveness to our own. Welcome home... Locutus.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Worf, do you remember your zero-G combat training?
Lt. Commander Worf : I remember it made me sick to my stomach.
[realizing what he's getting at]
Lt. Commander Worf : What are you suggesting?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I think it's time that we took a little stroll.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : You want to destroy the ship and run away, you coward.
Lt. Commander Worf : If you were any other man, I would kill you where you stand.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Six years ago, they assimiated me into their collective. I had their cybernetic devices implanted throughout my body. I was linked to the hive mind. Every trace of individuality erased. I was one of them. So you can imagine, my dear, I have a somewhat unique perspective on the Borg, and I know how to fight them. Now if you will excuse me, I have work to do.
Lily Sloane : I am such an idiot. It's so simple. The Borg HURT you, and now you're going to HURT them back.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : In my century, we don't succumb to revenge. We have a more evolved sensibility.
Lily Sloane : BULLSHIT! I saw the look your face when you shot those Borg on the Holodeck. You were almost ENJOYING it!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : How dare you.
Lily Sloane : Oh, come on, Captain. You're not the first man to get a thrill from murdering someone! I see it all the time!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : GET OUT!
Lily Sloane : Or what? You'll kill me like you killed Ensign Lynch?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There was no way to save him.
Lily Sloane : You didn't even try! Where was your evolved sensibility then?
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [looking at the Phoenix] Isn't it amazing? This ship used to be a nuclear missile.
Lieutenant Commander Data : It is an historical irony that Dr. Cochrane would choose an instrument of mass destruction to inaugurate an era of peace.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I don't have time for this.
Lily Sloane : Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt your little quest. Captain Ahab has to go hunt his whale.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : What?
Lily Sloane : You do have books in the 24th century?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : This is not about revenge.
Lily Sloane : LIAR!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : This is about saving the future of humanity!
-
Lily Sloane : [threatening with a phaser] You want to help me? Get me out of here!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Alright. You want a way out? Here it is.
[Picard opens window, revealing the Earth far, far below]
Lily Sloane : What is this?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Australia. New Guinea. Solomon Islands. Montana will be up soon, but you may want to hold your breath - it's a long way down!
-
[Picard asks the Borg Queen to exchange Data for himself]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Let him go. He's not the one you want.
Borg Queen : Are you offering yourself to us?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Offering myself...? That's it, I remember now! It wasn't enough that you assimilate me... I had to give myself freely to the Borg. To you!
Borg Queen : You flatter yourself! I've overseen the assimilation of countless millions. You were no different!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : You're lying. You wanted more than just another Borg drone. You wanted a human being with a mind of his own, who could bridge the gulf between humanity and the Borg! You wanted a counterpart! But I resisted. I fought you.
Borg Queen : You can't begin to imagine the life you denied yourself.
-
[last lines]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Data, lay in a course for the 24th century. I suspect our future is there waiting for us.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Course laid in, sir.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Make it so.
-
Cmdr. Deanna Troi : Bridge to Captain Picard.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Go ahead.
Cmdr. Deanna Troi : We've just received word from the Fleet. They've engaged the Borg.
-
[first lines]
Borg Queen : Locutus...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I am Locutus of Borg. Resistance is futile.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : The Borg have cut primary power to all decks... *except* sixteen.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The Borg won't stay on deck sixteen.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [Picard, Worf and Hawk are walking to the main deflector dish on the Enterprise hull. Picard notices Worf is breathing heavily] How are you doing, Mr. Worf?
Lt. Commander Worf : Not well, sir.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Try not to look at the stars. Keep your eyes on the hull.
[Worf turns his attention to the hull, and looks up toward the deflector dish]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Let's go.
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : [We see a 24th century Earth. It looks shattered and broken-up] The atmosphere contains high concentrations of methane, carbon monoxide, and fluorine.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Life signs?
Lieutenant Commander Data : Population approximately nine billion... all Borg.
-
Lily Sloane : [pointing a phaser] I don't care who you're with! Get me the hell out of here! NOW!
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : That's not going to be easy.
Lily Sloane : Well, you'd better find a way to make it easy, soldier, or I'm going to start PUSHING BUTTONS!
-
Borg Queen : What's wrong, Locutus? Isn't this familiar? Organic minds are such fragile things. How could you forget me so quickly? We were very close, you and I. You can still hear our song.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Yes, I... I remember you. You were there all the time. But... that ship... and all the Borg on it were destroyed...
Borg Queen : You think in such three-dimensional terms. How small you've become.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I've accessed a Borg neuroprocessor and I've discovered what they're trying to do. They're transforming the deflector dish into an interplexing beacon.
Lt. Hawk : [confused] "Interplexing"?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : It's a subspace transmitter. If they activate the beacon, they'll be able to establish a link with the Borg living in this century.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : But in the 21st century, the Borg are still in the Delta quadrant.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : They'll send reinforcements. Humanity will be an easy target. Attack the Earth in the past to assimilate the future.
-
Cmdr. William Riker : Bizet?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Berlioz.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Red alert! All hands to battle stations! Engage.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Captain's log, stardate 50893.5. The moment I have dreaded for nearly six years has finally arrived. The Borg, our most lethal enemy, have begun an invasion of the Federation, and this time, there may be no stopping them.
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : [inspecting the Phoenix] The structural integrity of the missile appears to be intact, but there is significant damage to various sections of the fuselage and primary intercooler system.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We should have the original blueprints in the Enterprise computer. Commander La Forge will need to bring a team down here...
[trying to take cover as Lily fires her assault rifle]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Hold your fire! We're here to help you!
Lily Sloane : Bullshit!
Lieutenant Commander Data : [she continues firing] Captain, I believe I can handle this.
[giving Picard his tricorder, he jumps down to a lower level, where Lily continues to riddle him with bullets]
Lieutenant Commander Data : [unaffected] Greetings.
[catching her as she passes out]
Lieutenant Commander Data : Captain, this woman requires medical attention.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [destroying the Borg sphere] They were firing at the surface. Location?
Cmdr. William Riker : [going to a console] Western hemisphere, North American continent. Looks like a missile complex in central Montana.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Missile complex. The date. Data, I need to know the exact date.
Lieutenant Commander Data : April 4th, 2063.
Cmdr. William Riker : April 4th, the day before first contact.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Precisely.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Then the missile complex must be where Zefram Cochrane is building his warp ship.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : That's what they came here to do, stop first contact.
Cmdr. William Riker : How much damage, Lieutenant?
Lt. Hawk : Can't tell. Long-range sensors are still offline.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We have to go down there, find out what happened. Data, Beverly, you're with me. Have a security team meet us in transporter room 3.
[heading to the turbolift]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Computer, mid-21st century civilian clothing. Number One, you have the bridge.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : What have you found out?
Cmdr. Deanna Troi : There's no sign of Cochrane anywhere in the complex.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : He has to be here. There was nothing more important to him than this ship. This flight, it was his dream.
Cmdr. Deanna Troi : Captain, we should consider the possibility that Dr. Cochrane was killed in the attack.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : If that's true, then the future may die with him.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : First thing they'll do in Engineering is establish a collective, a central point from which they can control the hive. The problem is, if we begin firing particle weapons in Engineering, there's a risk that we may hit the warp core. I believe our goal should be to puncture one of the plasma coolant tanks. Data?
Lieutenant Commander Data : Excellent idea. Plasma coolant will liquefy organic material on contact.
Lt. Commander Worf : But the Borg are not entirely organic.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : True, but like all cybernetic life forms, they cannot survive without their organic components.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : The Borg will adapt quickly. We will be able to fire 12 shots at most.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : One other thing. You may encounter Enterprise crew members who've already been assimilated. Don't hesitate to fire. Believe me, you'll be doing them a favor.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Jean-Luc Picard. My name. That's my name.
-
Borg Queen : Data, you are free to go.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Data, go.
Lieutenant Commander Data : No. I do not wish to go.
-
Deanna Troi : [learning the population of Earth is all Borg] How?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : They must've done it in the past. They went back and assimilated Earth, changed history.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : But if they changed history, why are we still here?
Lieutenant Commander Data : The temporal wake must have somehow protected us from the changes in the timeline.
[his console beeps]
Lieutenant Commander Data : Sir, the vortex is collapsing.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Hold your course, Mr. Hawk. We must follow them back, repair whatever damage they've done.
-
Cmdr. William Riker : How many ships?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : One. And it's on a direct course for Earth. They will cross the Federation border in less than an hour. Admiral Hayes is mobilizing a fleet in the Typhon sector.
Lieutenant Commander Data : At maximum warp, it will take us three hours, 25 minutes...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We're not going.
Cmdr. William Riker : What do you mean we're not going?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Our orders are to patrol the Neutral Zone in case the Romulans decide to take advantage of the situation.
Deanna Troi : [confused] The Romulans?
Lieutenant Commander Data : Captain, there has been no unusual activity along the Romulan border for the last nine months. It seems highly unlikely they would choose this moment to start a conflict.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Does Starfleet feel we need more shakedown time?
Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge : Captain, we've been out in space nearly a year now. We're ready. The Enterprise-E is the most advanced starship in the fleet. We should be on the front line.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I have gone over all this with Starfleet Command. Their orders stand. Number One, set a course for the Neutral Zone.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Worf, is everything all right up there?
Lt. Commander Worf : Yes, sir. We are experiencing some environmental difficulties on deck 16, but that is all.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : What kind of difficulties?
Lt. Commander Worf : Humidity levels have risen 73% and the temperature has jumped ten degrees in the last hour.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Data and I are returning to the ship.
Lt. Commander Worf : Understood.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [to Will] Number One, take charge down here.
-
Dr. Beverly Crusher : [scanning Lily] Severe theta radiation poisoning.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Radiation is coming from the damaged throttle assembly.
Dr. Beverly Crusher : We're all going to have to be inoculated, and I have to get her to Sickbay.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Doctor...
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Please, no lectures about the Prime Directive. I will keep her unconscious.
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : [pursuing the Borg sphere] Sensors show chronometric particles emanating from the sphere.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : They're creating a temporal vortex.
Cmdr. William Riker : Time travel.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Something must have happened in Sickbay. Where are Dr. Crusher and the others?
Lily Sloane : Why did you break the cease-fire?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We didn't attack you!
Lily Sloane : Who did?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There's a... there's a new faction that wants to prevent your launch tomorrow morning, but we're here to help you. This may be difficult for you to accept, but you are not in Montana anymore.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Picard to Engineering.
Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge : La Forge here.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Geordi, Cochrane's ship was damaged in the attack. Get down here with an engineering detail. We have work to do.
Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge : Right. I'm on my way, Captain. Alpha team, let's assemble in transporter room 3. We're heading down to the surface. Porter, you're gonna be in command 'til I get back.
Porter : Aye, sir.
Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge : And, Porter, check out the environmental controls while I'm gone. It's getting a little warm in here.
-
Lily Sloane : [looking at Earth from a window on the Enterprise] There's no glass.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [she jumps with a gasp as he touches the protective barrier] Force field.
Lily Sloane : I've never seen that kind of technology.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : That's because it hasn't been invented yet.
Lily Sloane : What?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There's more I have to tell you.
[leading her away]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Come on.
-
Admiral Hayes : I've just received a disturbing report from Deep Space 5. Our colony on Ivor Prime was destroyed this morning. Long-range sensors have picked up...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Yes, I know. The Borg.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : What is the status of the Borg cube?
Lieutenant Commander Data : It has sustained heavy damage to its outer hull. I am reading fluctuations in their power grid.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Onscreen.
[seeing the action]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Number One, open a channel to the fleet.
Cmdr. William Riker : [tapping buttons] Channel open, sir.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : This is Captain Picard of the Enterprise. I'm taking command of the fleet. Target all of your weapons onto the following coordinates.
[tapping buttons on Data's console]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Fire on my command.
Lieutenant Commander Data : Sir. The coordinates you have indicated do not appear to be a vital system.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Trust me, Data.
Cmdr. William Riker : The fleet's responded, sir. They're standing by.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Fire.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [exiting the temporal vortex] Report.
Cmdr. William Riker : Shields are down, long-range sensors are offline, main power's holding.
Lieutenant Commander Data : According to our astrometric readings, we are in the mid-21st century. From the radioactive isotopes in the atmosphere, I would estimate we have arrived approximately ten years after the Third World War.
Cmdr. William Riker : Makes sense. Most of the major cities have been destroyed, very few governments left, 600 million dead. No resistance.
-
Lily Sloane : How many planets are in this Federation?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Over 150, spread across 8,000 light-years.
Lily Sloane : You must not get home much.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Actually, I tend to think of this ship as home. But if it's Earth you're talking about, I try to get back whenever I can.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Now, listen to me. I'm not your enemy, and I can get you home, but first you must put that weapon down and trust me. Jean-Luc Picard. My name. That's my name. What's yours?
Lily Sloane : Lily.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Welcome aboard, Lily.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Commander Worf, I need to know exactly what's been happening.
Lt. Commander Worf : We just lost contact with deck 16. Communications, internal sensors, everything. I was about to send a security team to investigate.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No! Seal off deck 16. Post security teams at every access point.
Lt. Commander Worf : Aye, sir.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Hawk. Before we lost internal sensors, what were the exact environmental conditions in main engineering?
Lt. Hawk : Atmospheric pressure was two kilopascals above normal, 92% humidity, 39.1 degrees Celsius.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : 39.1 degrees Celsius. Like a Borg ship. They knew their ship was doomed. Our shields were down. Somehow, they transported over here without being detected. They'll assimilate the Enterprise, and then... Earth.
-
Lily Sloane : [Picard rummages inside a Borg's body] What are you doing?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I'm looking for the neuroprocessor. Every Borg has one. It's like a memory chip. It will contain a record of all the instructions this Borg has been receiving from the collective.
Lily Sloane : [noticing something] Oh, my. Jean-Luc, it's one of your uniforms.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [almost indifferent] Yes, this was Ensign Lynch.
Lily Sloane : Tough luck, huh?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [plugging the neuroprocessor into his tricorder and reviewing the data] I've gotta get to the bridge.
-
Lily Sloane : You son of a bitch.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : This really isn't the time.
Lily Sloane : Okay, I don't know jack about the 24th century, but everybody out there thinks that staying here and fighting the Borg is suicide. They're just afraid to come in here and say it.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The crew is accustomed to following my orders.
Lily Sloane : They're probably accustomed to your orders making sense.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : None of them understand the Borg as I do. No one does. No one can.
-
Nicky the Nose : Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in. What's shakin', Dix?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The usual, Nick. Martinis and skirts.
[picking up and frisking Nicky's bodyguard]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Excuse me.
Henchman : Hey, I'm gonna take that personal in a second.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No offense.
Henchman : [Picard grabs his violin case] Hey!
[Lily knocks him out with an ice bucket; opening the case, Picard takes out a Tommy gun and fires on the Borg]
Lily Sloane : [stopping him as he moves to physically strike a dead Borg] Hey! I think you got him.
[calming himself, Picard puts the gun down]
Lily Sloane : I don't get it. I thought you said this was all just a bunch of holograms. If it's holograms...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I disengaged the safety protocols. Without them, even a holographic bullet can kill.
-
Lily Sloane : How big is this ship?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There are 24 decks, almost 700 meters long.
Lily Sloane : It took me six months to scrounge up enough titanium just to build a four-meter cockpit.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [evacuating the Enterprise] If you see Commander Riker or any of my crew, give them this.
Lily Sloane : What is it?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Orders to find a quiet corner of North America and stay out of history's way.
Lily Sloane : [shaking hands] Well, good luck.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : To both of us.
Lily Sloane : [seeing his look] You're not leaving, are you?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Lily, when I was held captive on the Borg ship, my crew risked everything to save me. There is... someone still on this ship, and I owe him the same.
Lily Sloane : Go and find your friend.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : Captain, our weapons are useless. We must activate the auto-destruct sequence and use the escape pods to evacuate the ship.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No!
Dr. Beverly Crusher : Jean-Luc, if we destroy the ship, we destroy the Borg.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We're gonna stay and fight.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Captain's log, April the 5th, 2063. The voyage of the Phoenix was a success, again. The alien ship detected the warp signature and is on its way to rendezvous with history.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [in a Dixon Hill holonovel] I'm looking for Nicky the Nose.
Bartender : The Nose? He hasn't been here in months.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [realizing] This is the wrong chapter.
[a maitre d' is thrown across the room]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Computer! Begin chapter 13.
[leading Lily onto the crowded dance floor]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Try to look like you're having a good time.
[Lily glances at the Borg at the entrance]
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No, no, no, look at me! Try to act naturally.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : [Lily screams upon coming across a group of Borg] Come on.
Lily Sloane : Is... is there another way around?
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I know what I'm doing.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : [suiting up for zero-G] I have re-modulated the pulse emitters, but I do not believe we will get more than one or two shots before the Borg adapt.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Then we must make every shot count.
-
Lt. Commander Worf : [observing the Borg constructing their interplexing beacon] We should bring reinforcements.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There's no time. It looks as if they're building the beacon right on top of the particle emitter. Once all the transponder rods are in place, the beacon will be activated.
Lt. Hawk : Well, if we set our phasers to full power, we can...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : No. There's a risk that we hit the dish. It's charged with antiprotons. We could destroy half the ship. We have to find another way.
-
Security Officer : They're on the move again. The Borg just overran three of our defense checkpoints. They've taken over decks 5 and 6. They've adapted to every modulation of our weapons. It's like we're shooting blanks.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : We'll have to work on finding another way to modify our weapons so they'll be more effective. In the meantime, tell your men to stand their ground.
Security Officer : Sir...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Fight hand-to-hand if they have to.
-
Lily Sloane : Watch your caboose, Dix.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : I intend to.
-
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Mr. Worf, quantum torpedoes.
Lt. Commander Worf : Ready, sir.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Fire!
-
Lieutenant Commander Data : I have isolated the main computer with a fractal encryption code. It is highly unlikely the Borg will be able to break it.
Lt. Commander Worf : The Borg have cut primary power to all decks except 16.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The Borg won't stay on Deck 16.
