Have been watching for 10 years

We have been watching this program on Italian TV for over 10 years. A few years ago, we ran into two of the main actors while walking down town Naples. One ( Raffaele-Patrizio Rispo )was sitting at a table at a famous bar. I took a photo as my wife sat in his lap. He gave us his email so we could send a copy of the photo. The other( the youngest of the original Palladini's) was coming out of a high fashion store with an actress from the show. They both were very interested in the fact that we follow the program in the USA. Were both very gracious and we took photos with them. Several of the younger actors have grown up on the program. Its a great soap and we enjoy seeing all the sites of Naples that are familiar to us.

It changed the rules

Un Posto al sole was the first daytime product ever made in Italy. Before there was only US Soap or Latin Novelas. It change everything and now Italy is producing 3 daytime soap. But "Un Posto al Sole" is not only a soap. it's something very similar to a fiction. Owing to the fact that is broadcasted in a timeslot of high peek (just before the prime time) the storylines are a bit different from the other soap: are more close to reality.

I think is a good product even if it has its own limits. Anyway now is in its 7 years of broadcast with an average audience of 2.5 million of viewers. A huge success.

The pilot was imported by aussie Grundy's "Neighbours" but now it is dressed in italian (or better Neaples) sauce so the drama is always reduced by comedy. A good mix. Taste it !

Un posto al sole (1996 - )

The best italian real drama. The protagonists live real situations, which take their cue from everyday life. This creates interest in the viewer, eager to know the events that will happen to the characters.

Naples... what it isn't like.

I lived in Naples for seven years and believe me got to know what life in Naples is like, when you belong somewhere in the low/middle society. Although I watch this soap frequently (almost every day), I can't identify anything of what I experienced in Naples - but some usage of the dialect here and there. The "story" could take place everywhere else. I guess since producers and or directors wanted to offer something anybody could identify with, a lot of local sets, realities and circumstances are not shown. This is not Naples, so you may watch it as "off-the-shelf" soap.

Great

People telling you this show isn't good, are lying. There's constant drama and the cast really feels like they're a family. It's such a great show to just sit down and watch. Honestly you can rewatch a hundred times and wouldn't get bored. So many complex characters and stories with their own different personalities. I've been watching this show for a good 4 years and I've loved it. This show has been running since 1996, so you know it's good. I genuinely enjoy watching this because there's always something new, the story never gets boring. The characters really have their own unique stories and they're easy to follow. I think you should watch this if you want a cozy- family like show but with edge and drama.
