- Freeform, TBS and YTV airings strangely have the 1993 TriStar Pictures logo plastered with the 1984 Tri-Star Pictures logo. The 1993 logo remains intact on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim telecasts.
- On Freeform telecasts, when confronting Matilda about the newt, Miss Trunchbull refers to her as a "pin-worm" as opposed to a "piss-worm".
- The box of Cheerios cereal that is used as a prop when Matilda practices with using her powers is often re-branded to simply "Cereal" during TV airings on networks not sponsored by General Mills that owns the Cheerios brand of cereal. The name of the company who owns this brand of cereal can clearly be seen printed on the top-left corner on the front of the box.
- The scene of Miss Trunchbull threatening Mr. Wormwood on the telephone with a lawsuit is toned down in TV airings since she threatens him and his business with violence and due to the word "bazooga" being used as a substitute for "ass" on what she insists she do with the car she bought from him.
- The scene of Miss Trunchbull questioning Amanda Thripp in Miss Honey's class about their ability to spell, to which Amanda recites a poem by using "Mrs." and each letter and a couple of sets of three letters to spell the word "difficulty"; to which the Trunchbull responds "Why are all these women married?!" was cut from many TV airings, as this scene and the Trunchbull's response to the poem implied lesbianism. During the TV airings, once the Trunchbull first picks up the pitcher, the camera immediately cuts to her pouring in the water and not knowing Lavender put a newt in the jug instead of pausing from using the pitcher to ask Amanda Thripp and other students if they can spell.
