Adam Sandler Pays Tribute to 'Happy Gilmore' Star Morris the Alligator Following Death
Image
Adam Sandler paid a heartfelt tribute to one of his Happy Gilmore “costars” after the announcement of their death at the age of “well over 80 years old.” The reason for the vagueness of the age, is that the star in question was Morris the alligator, who appeared in the movie with Sandler as one of several TV and movie roles. The original news of the reptile’s death was revealed by Colorado Gator Farm owner Jay Young, who said in a Facebook video, “While we knew this was inevitable, we are very saddened by his passing to old age.”

Sandler was also saddened by the news, and took to his own social media account to share a lengthy post in memory of the alligator. Tinged with more than a little of Sandler's brand of humor, he wrote:

“Goodbye, Morris. We are all gonna miss you. You could be hard on directors,...

Morris The Alligator, Star of ‘Alligator’, Has Passed Away Peacefully in His Colorado Home
Image
Our hearts go out to the proprietors of the Colorado Gators Reptile Park in Colorado. We recently learned that the organization’s most senior resident, Morris (an alligator with a Hollywood resume that would make many blush), passed away on Sunday.

Morris is best known to horror fans for his epic turn in the 1980 creature feature Alligator. The camera-ready gator began a career in show business when he landed with the animal trainers at Brocketts Film Fauna in 1975. Morris proved a quick study and remained in their care, making somewhat regular feature film and television appearances until retiring at the Colorado Gators Reptile Park in 2006. Morris lived there until his recent passing.

It’s quite clear that the folks at the Colorado-based animal sanctuary loved him dearly. Proprietor Jay Young broke the news Monday via the organization’s Facebook page.

“Colorado Gators is sad to report the passing away of our oldest alligator,...

Morris, the gator from 1980’s Alligator (and Happy Gilmore) dies
Morris
Morris, the famed reptile who crept through the Chicago sewers in 1980’s Alligator and took Chubbs’ hand (and fell victim to Adam Sandler) in Happy Gilmore, has passed away. While the exact age isn’t known, it’s estimated that Morris was anywhere ever seen 80 and 100.

The news of Morris the alligator’s passing was shared by Colorado Gator Farm, the group who took care of the gator following his retirement from movies. In a Facebook post, they wrote, “Colorado Gators is sad to report the passing away of our oldest alligator, Morris. Morris was known for his work in many movies and TV shows from 1975 to 2006, when he retired to live out his days at Colorado Gators. His exact age was unknown, but he was 9 feet long in 1975 and by his growth rate and tooth loss, we can estimate his age at over 80 years. While we knew this was inevitable,...

Morris the Movie Star: The Legendary Alligator from Horror Movie ‘Alligator’ Has Passed Away
Morris
The most famous movie alligator of all time has left us this week, with CBS News reporting that Morris, the 80+ year old star of 1980 horror film Alligator, has passed away.

Morris passed away at his longtime home, the Colorado Gator Farm. His exact age wasn’t known, but the farm estimates that he was somewhere between 80 and 100 years old.

Morris came to Hollywood in 1975 and appeared in many movies and shows through to 2006, when he retired from showbusiness and settled down at the Colorado Gator Farm.

In addition to playing the killer alligator in both Alligator and 1991 sequel Alligator II: The Mutation, Morris also memorably appeared in Happy Gilmore, with his impressive resume also including Interview with the Vampire, Blues Brothers 2000, Eraser and Dr. Doolittle 2.

“He started acting strange a week ago. He wasn’t looking at us and wasn’t taking food,” the Gator Farm’s Jay Young said...

How A Cancelled Jim Carrey Movie Earned One Fan $5,000 From Nintendo

Of all the cultural legacies that the 1990s have left us, one of the most dubious is the trend of offering contests and sweepstakes that either have no prize or were made to never be won. When the story surrounding the McMillions scandal broke in 2018, many a '90s kid was both nostalgic and insulted to discover that the Monopoly peel-and-win game presented by McDonald's restaurants had been a cleverly rigged scam. The story was potent enough to draw some attention from Hollywood, and while a proposed film version from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon has yet to materialize, the scandal was covered in an HBO docuseries, "McMillion$" in 2020.

Never mind board games; some of the most notorious no-prize contests came from the world of video games and cinema. A fair number of these weren't rigged scams like the Monopoly scandal, but rather victims of abandoned projects or bankrupt corporations.

John Travolta Stars in 'I Am Wrath' Streaming for Free on Tubi
Image
John Travolta has frequently strayed from one genre into another, switching from comedy roles in movies such as Look Who’s Talking, to bloody and violent action movies like Pulp Fiction with surprising ease. One of the latter varieties came in the 2016 vigilante movie, I Am Wrath, which saw Travolta on the trail of revenge and is currently finding renewed interest on free streaming despite its dismal critical reviews.

Directed by Chuck Russell, known for The Mask and Eraser, I Am Wrath wants to deliver some high-octane action with Travolta playing Stanley Hill, an ordinary man who snaps after witnessing his wife’s murder and then watching a corrupt system let her killers off the hook. Rather than sink into a maudlin cloud of depression and disillusionment, Hill rediscovers a deadly streak from his past and sets off on a destructive journey to eliminate each lowlife connected to the crime.

What Happened to Eraser?
Image
We all know Arnold Schwarzenegger terminated the 1980s as the premiere action movie star alongside Stallone, but what about the 90s? Beyond Total Recall, T-2: Judgment Day, and True Lies, what’s the best Arnie action flick released between 1990 and 1999? And when we mean best, we don’t mean box office success, we’re talking about old-school ass-kicking Schwarzenegger action hinting at the halcyon days that date back to Commando and Conan the Barbarian. Is it Last Action Hero? End of Days? Or is it Chuck Russell’s underrated 1996 conspiracy espionage thriller Eraser? If you said Junior, Jingle All the Way, or Batman & Robin, you may kindly show yourselves out the door this instant. Better yet, stick around, Eraser is about to wipe your memory and prove why it’s the last great Arnie action flick to blast the masses in the 1990s.

From the rocky relationship between producer and director,...

Underrated Arnold Schwarzenegger Action Thriller The Last Stand Is Free to Stream
Image
It's no secret Arnold Schwarzenegger defined an era of action cinema. From The Terminator (1984) until Eraser (1996), his cool one-liners, incomparable physique, and unique charm dominated the genre. But after over a decade of bangers and a stint as Governor of California, he starred in an unsung action gem that has become a hit on a Tubi. The Last Stand, which brought Arnold back to the big screen after a break from acting, is an unwinking celebration of the hits of his past that simultaneously acknowledges his age and abilities.

Arnie stars as Ray Owens, the sheriff of a quiet Arizona town who must stop an escaped drug kingpin from fleeing to Mexico in a 1000 horsepower supercar with only the help of a ragtag ne'er-do-well and three deputies, played by Johnny Knoxville and Luis Guzman, Jamie Alexander, and Rodrigo Santoro respectively. Elegant in its simplicity, the film never over-complicates what it's trying to do.

'Why Are They Laughing?': James Cameron Was Shocked by Audience Reaction to Iconic Terminator Phrase
Image
The Terminator's success spawned a series of games, graphic novels, TV shows, and six films to date. One line in the first film unintentionally became the franchise's catchphrase.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's deadpan delivery brought out the irony of The Terminator's script. In an interview with Empire, director James Cameron said the actor's tone created a droll character audiences could identify with. "Nothing was tailored for Arnold," he asserted. "We didn't change a word of the script for Arnold. It's just the entire tone inflected in that moment. It didn't lose its seriousness, it wasn't really played for humor, but there was some irony that emerged." This is best demonstrated in the iconic line that defined Schwarzenegger's career. Cameron admitted he thought nothing of the phrase "I'll be back" when he wrote it in the script, however.

Schwarzenegger's underrated movies, like Eraser and Twins, offer fun action scenes and engaging stunts worth a rewatch. The 6th Day delves into cloning and technology, with a balance of drama and dark humor that makes it an intriguing watch. Last Action Hero, an action genre parody film, offers a meta and funny premise, showcasing Schwarzenegger in a comedic role.

Throughout his remarkable career, Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in some underrated movies that deserve another look. Schwarzenegger is most famous for playing action movie characters, ranging from righteous heroes to robotic villains. In fact, Sylvester Stallone and Schwarzenegger are considered the best action stars of the 1980s. In addition, Schwarzenegger appeared in some comedies and an infamous Batman film in the 1990s.

At one time or another, everyone will feel the pressure of landing something extra special for a job or commitment. Depending on how desperate you are, you might find yourself stepping out of your comfort zone to make the dream come true and become the hero of your peers. For producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, he says that he felt the weight of the world on his shoulders when he was serving as a producer at Warner Bros. for the 1996 feature, Eraser. The Chuck Russell-helmed action flick was in need of a leading man and Di Bonaventura knew exactly who that person had to be - Arnold Schwarzenegger. What transpired next is a hilarious story of patience and willpower which the iconic producer shared with Colliders editor-in-chief Steve Weintraub while speaking at Colliders Producers on Producing panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

‘Witchboard’ Director Chuck Russell On His Return To Horror: “It’s Got To Be Scary — But We Have To Care About The Characters” – Fantasia Festival
Image
Exclusive: When we speak, Chuck Russell is in LA, getting ready for the world premiere of his new film Witchboard. It will be a homecoming in more ways than one; first, since — although it takes place in New Orleans — his supernatural horror was largely shot in Montreal, home to the Fantasia Festival, which is hosting the screening. But, more than that, Witchboard marks Russell’s return to the genre that introduced him in the late ’80s, initially with 1987’s A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors and then, a year later with his seriously gory take on camp ‘50s B-movie The Blob (tagline: “Terror has no shape!”).

Based very loosely on Kevin Tenney’s 1986 VHS hit of the same name, Witchboard stars Madison Iseman as Emily, a recovering drug addict who, with her fiancé Christian (Aaron Dominguez) and their group of friends,...

The Blair Witch Project | 25 years ago, a $60,000 movie changed horror for good
Image
Horror was in a bit of a funk in the late 90s. Then 25 years ago, in July 1999, The Blair Witch Project came along and changed everything.

In a 1996 article published in The Philadelphia Enquirer, film critic Desmond Ryan bemoaned the state of mainstream films. Citing such films as Independence Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Eraser, and that year’s hurricane thrillride Twister, Ryan argued that Hollywood had become more interested in special effects than logic or character.

“It all began,” Ryan wrote, “when Twister’s killer tornadoes sucked up everything in their path – tractors, cows, common sense, continuity, plausibility, and the quaint notion that movies should have characters you care about.”

By the end of the 1990s, the horror genre appeared to have descended into a creative funk of its own. Of the horror films released toward the end of the decade, many of the most high-profile examples were remakes or sequels in somewhat tired franchises.

Will Smith's Best Movie Could've Been Very Different – And Directed By Michael Bay
Image
Francis Lawrence's 2007 post-apocalyptic drama "I Am Legend" is based loosely on the celebrated 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. The original novel is set in the near future of 1976 when a destructive war has ravaged the Earth, and a horrible virus has infected the survivors. The virus transforms its victims into pale-skinned, nocturnal ghouls with an appetite for human blood, more or less making them vampires. The novel follows Robert Neville, seemingly the last human alive, as he tries to survive in a ravaged Los Angeles and study the virus during the daylight hours. The title comes from the novel's famous twist ending.

"I Am Legend" was adapted to film in 1964 as "The Last Man on Earth," and in 1971 as "The Omega Man," before Lawrence's 2007 version. Lawrence's version transposes the action to New York and makes Neville (Will Smith) into a surviving virologist attempting to come up with a cure for the vampire virus.

The Expendables Completely Wasted Arnold Schwarzenegger's Sequel Streak
Image
Schwarzenegger's reluctance to do sequels like Commando 2 or True Lies 2 is admirable, but perplexing compared to The Expendables. Despite skipping The Expendables 4, Arnold's loyalty to the franchise is commendable, even if it didn't showcase his talents well. Arnie's rejected Predator cameo might have been a better fit for his iconic status than The Expendables, despite the fun he had with friends.

The Expendables broke an unlikely sequel streak for Arnold Schwarzenegger, and not in a positive way. Following the success of the original Terminator, there was a run of incredible Arnold Schwarzenegger action movies. The star had a knack for picking projects with great hooks, and having them tailored to his unique star branding. From Commando to Predator and even the lesser-sung likes of Eraser, Arnie always had an eye for concepts that tempted audiences into the theater.

This can be seen in the number of...

Jingle All The Way: Revisiting Schwarzenegger’s Christmas Classic
Image
Back in 1996, movie titan Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most notable ventures away from laying waste to camouflaged aliens, gunning down police stations and impaling mad Aussies, was in the comedies Kindergarten Cop and Twins. They were both decent movies, but Twins in particular was an unusual and surprising move for the Austrian Oak. However, it did ultimately turn out to be a fairly good movie, mainly thanks to the unlikely chemistry between Arnie and the great Danny De Vito. Twins was a financial success but the relative critical bashing Arnie’s next movie would get, the admittedly decent Eraser from 1996, meant he was in need of career resurgence.

So, what better way to go about kickstarting his slightly stuttering career than to throw himself head first into very unfamiliar territory: the Christmas movie. On the face of it, it probably seemed like a good idea; after all, both Twins and Kindergarten Cop...

Why Patricia Arquette Ditched The Freddy Franchise After A Nightmare On Elm Street 3
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The "Nightmare on Elm Street" film series was a hotbed for emerging talent. Many of the directors in the franchise would go on to prolific or interesting careers. Chuck Russell, director of "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" would go on to make Hollywood blockbusters like "The Mask," "Eraser," and "The Scorpion King." Renny Harlin, who directed "A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master" would likewise enter the Hollywood mainstream with films like "Predator 2," "Die Hard 2," "Cliffhanger," and "Cutthroat Island." Jack Sholder, Stephen Hopkins, and Rachael Talalay also emerged from the series' directors pool.

One can also find a few rising actors at the start of their careers throughout the Freddy Krueger movies. Famously, a young Johnny Depp starred in Wes Craven's 1984 original, and, for "Dream Warriors," Patricia Arquette made her cinematic debut.

Cop Land: Is this Sylvester Stallone’s Best Performance?
Image
1996 was a dark year for The Italian Stallion. Sylvester Stallone had two pricey flops in 1995, with Judge Dredd and Assassins. His Christmas of 1996 disaster movie release, Daylight, was another box office bomb. Just a few years before, Stallone had made a significant comeback with Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, but now the whole industry was changing. Carolco, the company that financed some of the era’s biggest hits, had gone bankrupt, and action movies were getting smaller and smaller. Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the decline, with Eraser a smaller hit than usual. Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal were only a few years away from making direct-to-video movies. What was Sly to do? The result is one of his very best movies –Cop Land – as we explore in the episode of Sylvester Stallone Revisited.

In the 1990s, one of the biggest stars on the planet was Sylvester Stallone’s former protege,...

Breakout: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s new movie is a return to hardcore action
Image
This weekend sees the release of Expend4bles (read my review), and its director, Scott Waugh, is already planning a follow-up action movie. This time, instead of Sylvester Stallone, he’s tearing up with another action icon: Arnold Schwarzenegger. As previously reported, the film, Breakout, stars Arnold as “Terry Reynolds. When his stepson, Daniel, is framed and sentenced to 25 years in a foreign country, Reynolds makes a daring jailbreak to save him and must overcome an overzealous prison warden in a race against time to avoid capture and flee the country.”

Recently, we spoke to Waugh and asked him about making Arnold’s latest. While he admitted that the strikes have brought the film to a temporary stop, he seems excited about its possibilities: “I think Breakout’s gonna be a really cool movie for Arnold. It’s really gonna get back to real hard Arnold. There’s not much comedy...

Here's Where You Can Watch Every A Nightmare On Elm Street Movie
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Although Wes Craven's 1984 film "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is typically lumped in with slasher movies -- it came out right when the genre was cresting in popularity -- it doesn't quite follow the same structure as its contemporaries in the horror genre. The "Nightmare" movies, because they take place largely within dreams, are slightly more cerebral, bizarre, or imaginative than many of the stalk-n-stab movies that infested theaters at the time. The series also attracted interesting and notable directors who went on to other projects. Chuck Russell directed part 3. Renny Harlin director part 4. Stephen Hopkins directed part 5. And Rachel Talalay directed "The Final Nightmare."

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" marathons are common around Halloween, and steamrolling through all nine extant "Nightmare" films is an experience the series' fans have likely forced themselves through at least once. Having done it,...

††† (Crosses) — the band featuring singer Chino Moreno (Deftones) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Shaun Lopez — have announced their first full-length album in nine years. The LP, titled Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete., arrives October 13th, and features this just-released single “Invisible Hand.”

“When we started working on Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete., there was so much more light coming in my life, for numerous reasons,” said Moreno in a press release. “There’s a lot more optimism. Even the darker themes are more romanticized and not coming from a place of despair.”

While Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete. marks the proper full-length follow-up to Crosses’ self-titled 2014 debut album, the band has been active the past couple years, releasing a number of singles,...

Why The Sandlot Franchise Recast Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez In The 2007 Sequel
Image
Mike Vitar played the legendary Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez in the 1993 cult classic The Sandlot, but his role was recast in the movie's two direct-to-video sequels. While the first sequel, The Sandlot 2, focused on an entirely new cast of characters, the third movie in the franchise heavily featured the Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez character, who acted as the coach of the Sandlot team featured in the movie. Chauncey Leopardi, who played Michael "Squints" Palledorous, reprised his role in The Sandlot: Heading Home, but Vitar was replaced by actor Danny Nucci.

The Sandlot was generally well-received by critics, and has gained notoriety as a cult classic and coming-of-age movie. The direct-to-video sequels garnered much less favorable reviews, which isn't surprising given how far removed The Sandlot 2 was from the original. As a legacy sequel, some of the original characters returned for The Sandlot: Heading Home (and it did have a lot more potential). However,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger Reveals His Reaction To Last Action Hero's Failure After T2's Success
Image
Netflix's Arnold sees the screen legend open up about his heartbroken response to Last Action Hero's failure. The second episode of Arnold focuses on Schwarzenegger's action movie career, where he scored back-to-back hits with movies like The Terminator, Commando, Predator and many more. The documentary series also sees his former rival turned friend Sylvester Stallone open up about how bitter their box-office feud used to be, and how they always sought to outdo each other in terms of physique, explosions or bodycounts.

Stallone also admits Arnold won their box-office battle. Arnold explores the lows of Schwarzenegger's life and career too, including a notable turning point in his movie stardom. Last Action Hero was his follow-up to Terminator 2: Judgment Day and was naturally hyped to become a major blockbuster. However, the film had the misfortune to open next to Jurassic Park, which demolished it financially. Last Action Hero...

Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan in Creed. La leyenda de Rocky (2015)
What’s New on Amazon Prime Video in June 2023
Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan in Creed. La leyenda de Rocky (2015)
If you’re wondering what’s new on Amazon Prime Video in June, the answer is a lot. The streamer has a solid slate of movies heading into summer 2023. From the first two “Creed” films to “Love, Rosie,” “Yours, Mine & Ours” and other clever romantic comedies, the streamer has a range of options for viewers with different tastes. Newer theatrical releases arriving on the streamer in June include “TÁR,” “Armageddon Time,” and “M3GAN.”

TV premieres to look forward to include Boots Riley’s “I’m A Virgo” and the fourth and final season of John Krasinski’s “Jack Ryan.” “Crazy Rich Asians” arrives early in June, followed by “Interstellar” for all Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey lovers. Even though “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” doesn’t release in theaters until November, all four “Hunger Games” films land on Prime Video this June. Perfect timing — maybe even with a reread...

Amazon Prime Video New Releases: June 2023
Image
With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.

It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.

The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

The real fireworks this month come from a ludicrously deep bench of library TV and movie titles. Give them a look for yourself below but if we were to highlight just a few,...

What’s Coming to Prime Video in June 2023: ‘Jack Ryan’ Final Season, ‘Shiny Happy People,' ‘Deadloch’
Image
The fourth and final season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” arrives on Prime Video on June 30. It finds Ryan — now the new acting CIA director — unearthing internal corruption and suspicious black ops that leaves the United States vulnerable to attack. John Krasinski stars as the tough-as-nails Ryan.

Watch the “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” trailer:

“Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” is a new docuseries that reveals the truth behind the myth of the wholesome religious family and their involvement with the predatory Bill Gothard and The Institute in Basic Life Principles. The organization’s abusive practices — and the insidious long political game it plays — is revealed on June 2. The Duggars and their 19 “happy” kids are exposed as frauds, while also being manipulated by Gothard and enduring the scandal of Josh, their sexually abusive son.

Check out the “Shiny Happy People” trailer:

Witchboard remake: Madison Iseman and three more join cast of Chuck Russell film
Kevin Tenney
Drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs just showed writer/director Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 horror classic Witchboard (watch it Here) on his Shudder series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs this past Friday, so today seems like the perfect day for a Witchboard remake casting announcement. Deadline reports that Madison Iseman of the short-lived I Know What You Did Last Summer TV series, Aaron Dominguez (Only Murders in the Building), Antonia Desplat (Shantaram), and Charlie Tahan (Ozark) star in the film alongside the previously announced Jamie Campbell Bower, who caught a lot of attention last year for playing the villainous Vecna in season 4 of Stranger Things.

The Witchboard remake is currently filming in Montreal, despite being set in New Orleans.

According to Deadline, director Chuck Russell intends to go beyond the original Witchboard IP “with a deeper storyline, high intensity scares and imaginative visuals”. As such, the screenplay he has...

This Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic Marked the Death of '80s Action Movies
Image
Eraser, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this month, is a classic Arnold Schwarzenegger action flick. He plays U.S. Marshal John “The Eraser” Kruger, the guy who gets called in when a federal witness simply has way too many assassins crawling around them and needs to disappear in a hurry. But there’s a mole within the Marshals service, and Kruger has to go on the run from his former mentor with an extremely high-risk witness (Vanessa Williams) so she can testify against a defense contractor selling experimental weaponry on the black market.

Witchboard remake: Stranger Things’ Jamie Campbell Bower cast in Chuck Russell film
Image
Writer/director Kevin S. Tenney’s 1986 horror classic Witchboard (watch it Here) is one of my all-time favorites, and we’ve been hearing rumblings of a remake for a long time now. Going all the way back to the 2007, in fact. Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer director Mark Vadik was attached to write and direct the film in 2011, then in 2019 we heard that Chuck Russell – whose credits include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob (1988), The Mask, Eraser, and The Scorpion King – had signed on to direct the film. And it looks like the Witchboard remake is actually going to happen with Russell at the helm. Deadline reports that Russell has even found the first cast member for the project: Jamie Campbell Bower, who caught a lot of attention last year for playing the villainous Vecna (pictured below) in season 4 of Stranger Things.

Russell had this...

Magic Eraser now available on all Pixel phones
Image
San Francisco, March 5 (Ians) Google has announced that Magic Eraser is now available on all Pixel phones and for any Google One (cloud storage service) subscriber, including those on iOS.

Magic Eraser first appeared on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro in 2021, followed by the 6a and then the Pixel 7 series, according to 9to5Google.

The Magic Eraser tool detects distractions in the pictures, such as photo bombers or power lines, so that users can easily remove them.

Users can also circle or brush other things they want to erase and the tool will make them disappear.

In addition, Camouflage in Magic Eraser can change the colour of objects in photos to help them blend in naturally with the rest of the photo — putting the focus on what matters.

Magic Eraser can be found in the editor’s “Suggestions” or “Tools” tabs. Users can undo removals at any time.

Moreover, the report...

Pixel Bug Crashed Phones After Opening YouTube Clip Of Alien: What To Know
Image
Owners of Google Pixel smartphones found that playing a specific YouTube clip of the movie Alien in 4K Hdr made their smartphones crash — but what's really going on? This isn't the first time a photo or video has caused Android smartphones to crash. Notably, back in 2020, setting a specific photo as a smartphone's wallpaper would instantly crash select Android smartphones. While the bug was more prominent on Samsung smartphones, it was also found on some Pixel phones and other Android devices. In that circumstance, the issue wasn't limited to just one restart — setting the photo as a wallpaper would cause affected smartphones to endlessly boot loop.

The bug, first spotted by Android Authority, was documented by Pixel users in a Reddit thread on Feb. 25. The original Redditor, u/OGPixel5, first explained that watching this YouTube clip of Alien would instantly crash their device. In the following days, numerous Pixel owners...

9 New Features Coming To Your Android & Wear Os Devices
Image
At Mobile World Congress (Mwc) 2023 in Barcelona, Google announced a slew of new features coming to Android and Wear Os. The announcement came just days after the company revealed plans to bring the hitherto Pixel-exclusive Magic Eraser to Google One subscribers across all Android and iOS devices. Alongside Magic Eraser, Google Photos will also offer an Hdr effect feature that helps balance dark foregrounds and bright backgrounds (or vice versa). There will also be exclusive collage editor designs, and the ability for Google Photos users to apply styles to a single photo in the collage editor.

Google listed at least nine new features that will come to Android and Wear Os in the near future. The first one is an improvement to the company's Bluetooth connectivity feature, Fast Pair, that will soon allow users to connect Bluetooth headphones to Chromebooks with just one tap. If users have already set up headphones with their Android phone,...

Frank Darabont Has A Healthy Reaction To The Mist's Legacy [Exclusive]
Image
Frank Darabont knows about comeback stories. His adaptation of Stephen King's novella "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" was made for 25 million and released to theaters with little fanfare. Though Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gave the film their coveted two-thumbs-up seal of approval, some of their esteemed peers (e.g. The Los Angeles Times' Kenneth Turan and The Washington Post's Desson Thomson) were mixed to negative.

But the movie's biggest problem had nothing to do with reviews. It was a 141-minute prison movie about the unlikely friendship that develops between two male inmates (Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman) over 20 years. There was no romance or action to market. The Stephen King pedigree was downplayed because it wasn't a straight-up horror flick, and the studio's modest awards hopes for the movie might've been diminished due to its association with an author best known for pulp entertainments (even though Kathy Bates...

Interview: Chuck Russell on Paradise City, The Blob, Elm Street 3 and more!
Chuck Russell
Chuck Russell is a name action and horror fans revere. First bursting onto the scene with A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, his take on Freddy Krueger set the tone for what was to follow. His next movie, The Blob, was a notable failure in 1988 but has since been rediscovered as a genre classic, while his nineties movies, such as The Mask and Eraser, are iconic in their own right. Russell returns to the action genre with the indie flick Paradise City, which re-teams John Travolta and Bruce Willis for the first time since Pulp Fiction.

In our exclusive sit-down with Russell, he talks about making the film, admitting that while he knows Willis had some limitations, no one at the shoot knew about his Aphasia diagnosis as he was a total pro throughout. He also discusses his admiration for Travolta, who he worked with previously on I Am Wrath,...

‘Ticket to Paradise’ Is #3 in Theaters, but It’s #1 on PVOD
Image
“Ticket to Paradise” nearly swept the VOD charts this week, falling short only at Google Play. The Julia Roberts-George Clooney rom-com success, heading to a domestic theatrical gross of perhaps 75 million, hewed to the studio’s standard plan of home release after three weekends. It’s still thriving in theaters, taking #3 for the weekend, providing more evidence that theatrical play elevates films for home play. The increased marketing might even help theatrical.

Theatrical success also was key for Netflix’s new #1. “Where the Crawdads Sing.” Sony’s very successful adaptation of Delia Reese’s best seller opened mid-July with a domestic 90 million total. Theaters can’t live by comic book and other franchises alone; they need a resurgence of standalone successes in other genres. “Ticket” and “Crawdads” are also the kinds of projects that top streamers want to corral, with limited or no theatrical footprint.

“Crawdads” is another...

‘Paradise City’ Review: In a Junk Crime Flick, John Travolta Plays a Baddie and Bruce Willis Isn’t Bad
Image
“Paradise City” is a semi-under-the-radar junk crime thriller, but when a movie like this one stars actors like John Travolta, Bruce Willis, and Stephen Dorff it can sometimes mean two things: that the stars are slumming, but that you’ll have fun watching them. The same movie made with grade-z actors wouldn’t have the same frisson. (It would be a pain to sit through.) Chuck Russell, the director of “Paradise City,” is actually a semi-a-list veteran whose credits include “The Mask,” “The Scorpion King,” “Eraser,” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” (which some of us thought of as a rare ’80s slasher-movie standout). Who would have imagined that those credits, in the sage of Netflix, would now make Russell sound like some sort of low-grade genre renaissance man? In “Paradise City,” an underworld drama set on Maui, Russell knows that he’s making a grubby piece of product,...

Schwarzenegger Confirms He Tricked Stallone Into Taking Terrible Movie
Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger recently revealed that he tricked Sylvester Stallone into taking the lead role in Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. The seven-time Mr. Olympia winner struggled to find his footing in Hollywood in the 1970s until his cast as the lead in John Milius' 1982 sword and sorcery epic Conan the Barbarian. He continued scoring massive hits throughout the decade with The Terminator, Commando, Predator, and The Running Man.

In a recent interview with THR (via Uproxx), Schwarzenegger confirmed that he had tricked Stallone into taking Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. Stallone stars a Sergeant Joseph Bomowski, a tough cop who partners with his mother to solve a murder. The film was poorly received by critics and audiences and is considered one of the actor's worst films. Stallone previously revealed that he initially signed onto the role because he heard Schwarzenegger was interested in the part. Now, Schwarzenegger admits that he set Stallone up.

Crime Thriller 'Paradise City' Trailer with John Travolta & Bruce Willis
Image
"Are you dangerous?" "Not to my friends." Such bland dialogue. Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for a film titled Paradise City, an action crime thriller arriving in theaters this November. A new film from the director of such classics as A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, The Blob, The Mask, Eraser, and The Scorpion King - he's been laying low since that last one. Ryan Swan must carve his way through the Hawaiian crime world to wreak vengeance on the kingpin who murdered his father. After being threatened by a ruthless power broker, it appears Ryan and his team are all out of options — until an excursion to the closely guarded island community of Paradise City unites them with an unforeseen ally. The film stars John Travolta & Bruce Willis, along with Blake Jenner, Praya Lundberg, Lorenzo Antonucci, Amber Abara, and Stephen Dorff. This looks as derivative...
