This movie has a time jump of 12 years, but only four years pass in the novelization. In the novelization, Einon is noted as initially being 15 years old. Kara has dark brown eyes, and is said to be a year or two older than Einon, so she ages from 16 or 17 to 20 or 21. In this movie, Einon attempts to rape Kara, but in the novelization, he succeeds in doing so, and Kara reveals it to Bowen on the eve of the battle against Einon. After being raped, Kara attempts to commit suicide, before sharing an extended dialogue scene with Queen Aislinn and escaping.
