Crazy New Trailer For Donnie Yen's 1960s Gangster Film Chasing The Dragon
If you're a fan of Donnie Yen (IP Man, Rogue One), you're not going to want to miss this new movie that he stars in called Chasing The Dragon. The movie is a 1960's set Hong King gangster action thriller and it looks like it could be a pretty badass film.

Donnie Yen stars as infamous real-life drug kingpin Crippled Ho, who came to Hong Kong an illegal immigrant in 1963 and ruthlessly carved an empire from the chaotic underworld of drug dealers and corrupt police that ruled the city under notorious detective Lee Rock (Andy Lau).

This film is being marketed as Donnie Yen's first real non-martial-arts role in a film and I've heard that he does an awesome job in the role. Don't worry, though, it looks like he still sees a lot of action!

Chasing the Dragon will get a limited theatrical release on September 29th. Check...

Review - Chasing the Dragon (2017)
After his brief Hollywood Sojourn with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage (2017) , Donnie Yen returns to Hong Kong cinema screens with crime epic Chasing the Dragon (2017). A change of pace for Yen, with the film being more of a crime drama than his usual martial arts actioners, although there is still enough bone crunching violence to keep fans happy. Yen stars as Crippled Ho, an illegal immigrant from Mainland China who manages to work his way up the criminal ranks to become the number one drug lord in Hong Kong. He is assisted in his endeavours by corrupt cop Lee Rock (Andy Lau), with the two forming a close but tenuous bond. Crippled Ho...

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
It Returns to Top the Box Office with $17.3M
Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
The blockbuster Stephen King adaptation It returned to take the top spot this weekend, after being knocked off by Kingsman: The Golden Circle last weekend, winning with an estimated $17.3 million, followed closely behind by newcomer American Made in second with $17.01 million and last weekend's winner Kingsman: The Golden Circle with $17 million. With all newcomers expected to underperform at the box office this weekend, it was believed to be quite the close race, which turned out to be true, with the top three spots separated by just $300,000. Since these movies are so close together in today's estimates, it's possible, if not likely, that the top three movies may switch spots when the actual numbers are released tomorrow.

Box Office Mojo reports that the It remake dropped 90 theaters in its fourth frame at the box office, bringing its theater count down to 3,917, but it still earned a respectable $4,419 per-screen average, bringing its domestic total to $291.1 million,...

Hey Australia! Win Tickets to See Chasing The Dragon in Cinemas!
Chasing The Dragon is one of the most anticipated Chinese films of the year for the simple reason that it unites two superstars – Donnie Yen and Andy Lau. Yen plays notorious drug dealer ‘Crippled Ho’ (previously played by Ray Lui in To Be Number One) while Lau reprises the role of corrupt police chief Lee Rock (whom he played in Lee Rock 1 and 2 in 1991). Early reviews for the film are very positive and Donnie is earning praise for his acting. The rest of the cast includes Philip Keung, Philip Ng and Kent Cheng. Thanks to Magnum Films, we have Five double passes for the film to give away to our readers. For a chance to win, all...

Tom Cruise, Sarah Wright, and Alejandro Edda in Barry Seal: American Traffic (2017)
Will Tom Cruise's American Made Fly High at the Box Office?
Tom Cruise, Sarah Wright, and Alejandro Edda in Barry Seal: American Traffic (2017)
After New Line Cinema's It remake shook the box office out of its horrendous summer slump, it seems those glory days may be already over, with what looks to be a rather weak showing in theaters this weekend. Universal's American Made, Sony's Flatliners remake, PureFlix's A Question of Faith and Novus' Til Death Do Us Part will all be vying for the box office crown, along with an expanding Battle of the Sexes. But it seems like, despite a strong critical showing from American Made, Kingsman 2 will likely repeat atop the box office with a lukewarm $19.7 million, followed by American Made with $16.4 million.

Box Office Mojo reports that American Made will debut in roughly 3,000 theaters, while the Flatliners remake will only arrive in 2,200 theaters, although no theater count estimates were given for Til Death Do Us Part or A Question of Faith. Fox Searchlight's Battle Of the Sexes,...

Jing Wong
'Chasing the Dragon' ('Jui Lung'): Film Review
Jing Wong
As Hong Kong’s premier schlockmeister, Wong Jing has never been shy about mining his own legacy to depletion. This is the man, after all, who managed to drain whatever fun there was left in his own trademark gambling comedies with his recent From Vegas to Macau franchise. With Chasing the Dragon (Jui Lung), Wong and co-director Jason Kwan offer a pale reboot of the mobster-biopic genre Wong helped make a cornerstone of Hong Kong cinema in the 1990s. Revisiting the characters and stories from two classics of that era — Lawrence Ah Mon’s Lee Rock, which Wong himself produced, and Poon...

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
Kingsman 2 Beats It at the Box Office with $39M
Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
As expected, after two weekends of box office dominance, New Line Cinema's It remake was finally dethroned. While it came in far lower than most projections, 20th Century Fox's Kingsman: The Golden Circle took the top spot at the box office with $39 million. Also as expected, Kingsman 2 easily beat its fellow newcomers The Lego Ninjago Movie and Friend Request, although they both came in far lower than most projections.

Box Office Mojo reports that Kingsman 2 opened in 4,003 theaters for a solid $9,743 per-screen average. While some had projected it to open in the $50 million range, the Kingsman sequel still managed to out-gross its predecessor, which opened with $36.2 million en route to a $128.2 million domestic debut and $414.3 million worldwide from an $81 million budget. The sequel was produced under a $104 million budget, but with its $61.2 million foreign debut, for a worldwide tally of $100.2 million, it's already very close to breaking even.

Watch Donnie Yen Kick Ass in 60s Set Gangster Crime Thriller Chasing The Dragon
I'm a big fan of Donnie Yen and it's awesome to see him star in a new Hong Kong gangster crime action thriller called Chasing the Dragon. This seems like a different kind of role for him, but it looks like he still brutally kicks some ass in the movie! We've got a couple of trailers for you to watch that have been released for the film and it looks like a blast. It's definitely a flick that I'll be checking out! Here's the synopsis:

Donnie Yen stars as infamous real-life drug kingpin Crippled Ho, who came to Hong Kong an illegal immigrant in 1963 and ruthlessly carved an empire from the chaotic underworld of drug dealers and corrupt police that ruled the city under notorious detective Lee Rock (Andy Lau).

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
Can Kingsman 2 or Ninjago Take Down It at the Box Office?
Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Channing Tatum, and Taron Egerton in Kingsman : Le Cercle d'or (2017)
While the It had no trouble repeating atop the box office for a second straight frame in a row last weekend, it doesn't seem that it will be going for a three-peat, with three new movies vying for the crown in wide release, 20th Century Fox's action-packed sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Warner Bros.' Lego Movie spin-off The Lego Ninjago Movie and Entertainment Studios' horror-thriller Friend Request. While it very well could be a close race, we're predicting that Ninjago will come out on top with $55.6 million, while Kingsman 2 will follow just behind with $52.4 million.

Box Office Mojo reports that both Kingsman 2 and Ninjago will be released in roughly 3,900 theaters, with Friend Request opening in roughly 3,000 theaters. All of those movies will still fall short of the 4,138 theaters that the blockbuster It remake was playing in last weekend, but after a record-breaking opening weekend, and a normal second-weekend drop,...

Chasing The Dragon: Andy Lau Pursues Donnie Yen And His 1970's Hair In First Explosive Trailer
Hong Kong superstars Andy Lau and Donnie Yen face off in director Wong Jing's upcoming 1970's set crime thriller Chasing The Dragon. And, yes, if the trailer is to be believed then fans of both stars should be very, very happy with the results. A remake of 1991's To Be Number One the film stars Lau reprising his role as police officer Lee Rock, a role last taken on in a pair of films carrying the character's  name from 1991. As for Yen, he plays a gangster known as Crippled Ho - reportedly based on an actual figure - who arrives illegally from Mainland China and climbs to top position in the drug trade. The scale here is impressively large and the action looks glossy...

Flatliners Trailer #2 Makes Death Look Like a Blast
Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Kiefer Sutherland, and Oliver Platt in L'expérience interdite (1990)
Just like this group of medical students in this upcoming thriller, the Flatliners franchise has been brought back from the dead with a new movie hitting theaters later this month. To get fans ready for this "revival" that continues the story from the original 1990 movie, Sony Pictures has dropped a new trailer, that shows how these medical students' lives change drastically after an experiment where they're brought back from the dead. The trailer also reveals the sequel's new tagline, "You haven't lived until you've died."

In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on...

Dong Yu in Une vie simple (2011)
China’s Bona Film Group has unveiled an ambitious 26-picture slate to celebrate the company’s 15th anniversary, along with a strategic cooperation with Huaxia Film Distribution.

Bona Film Group founder and CEO Yu Dong said he expected the slate would gross a combined $1.6bn (RMB10bn) at the China box office. The slate announcement came just days after it emerged that Bona is trying to delist from the Nasdaq.

Speaking at the Siff Forum on Monday, Yu Dong said it wasn’t surprising that he wanted to take his company private again because “my audience and customers are in China – coming home is the wish of all our investors and partners.”

Bona, which floated on New York’s Nasdaq exchange in 2010, currently has investors including Studio 8 backer Fosun International and private equity company Sequoia.

The company’s new slate includes Ang Lee’s previously announced Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, which Bona is...

Close up: Tacita Dean mourns the death of film
British artist says Tate Modern Turbine Hall installation celebrates analogue film-making at a time when the 'beautiful medium is about to go'

The big story

Pallbearers at the ready, for film is checking out. The great medium of the 20th-century – officially born on December 28th 1895, when the Lumiere brothers laid on the first paid public screening – is now facing its final fade out, killed off by new technology and outpaced by digital. "This beautiful medium, which we invented 125 years ago, is about to go," laments the British artist Tacita Dean. "How long have we got? I hope we've got a year left. It's that critical."

Film, Dean's acclaimed Turbine Hall commission at the Tate Modern, is an elegy to the joys of 35mm and the language of old-school analogue film-making. Elsewhere, the artist describes her working process and explains how film and digital are "intrinsically different mediums". Digital technology has no personal appeal for Dean.

[DVD News] - "Blood The Last Vampire" Released on Blu-ray and DVD October 19
This year's coolest, bloodiest vampire movie, "Blood The Last Vampire" comes to Blu-ray DVD on Monday 19 October 2009. The film was directed and produced by the impressive combined talents of Chris Nahon ("Chasing The Dragon", "Kiss Of The Dragon") and William Kong ("Crouching Tiger", "Hero"), and is based on the hugely popular cult hit anime series of the same name. Starring Gianna Jun as Saya and Allison Miller ("Kings", "Desperate Housewives") as Alice McKee this samurai wielding fight-fest is not to be missed. Slick and highly stylised, this martial arts creation tells the story of Saya a young half-vampire, half-human, left to fight the demons that have invaded the earth. On the surface, Saya is a beautiful 16-year-old, but underneath that youthful exterior hides a...

Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Snipes Pleads To Be Allowed To Film Abroad
Wesley Snipes at an event for The Great Debaters (2007)
Troubled Hollywood star Wesley Snipes is begging a judge to let him leave the U.S. so he can shoot two movies in Britain and Thailand, while he is appealing his conviction for tax fraud.

The Blade star was handed a three-year prison sentence in April after officials found him guilty of failing to file taxes for five years.

The 45-year-old is currently free on appeal, and has filed paperwork requesting permission to shoot Gallowwalker in London and Chasing The Dragon in Bangkok, insisting the money he earns from the two projects will "satisfy his civil tax liabilities".

In court documents, filed on Wednesday, Snipes' lawyer Daniel Meachum insists the actor is not a flight risk because "were he to abscond under these circumstances, it would destroy his ability to earn a living for the rest of his life."

Meachum adds, "Mr.Snipes will, of course, voluntarily return after his work on this film - as he has done each time he has been granted permission by this court."

But Snipes' request may be hampered by the fact the movie star failed to return to America immediately after charges were brought against him in 2006 - he was filming Gallowwalker in Namibia.
