Cassidy Rae: Hot. Movie: Eh
jman_31623 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
I admit it, the ads before the movie seeing a hot blonde in lingerie got me to watch. The acting, well the acting was terrible. My friend's movies shot on a camcorder feature better acting, not to mention a better script. Girl's car hit by boy (well, actually much older man), man pays for girl's repairs, girls falls for man. Or something like that. Amy (Cassidy Rae) finds out her lover Derek Bradshaw (Vincent Irizarry) is married. Sadly, she believes he's really trying to end his marriage. Then Amy starts to feel someone is trying to get her. Her friend (who turns out to be her real stalker) tries to help, but deliberately steers her wrong. Turns out she's under Derek's evil spell too. Only good things about this movie are Rae and her towel/shower/sauna scenes. Average TV movie.

Contains "Spoiler"

Warning: Spoilers
This is a crappy movie. It's a good movie, kind of fun to watch, and well made, but it is a crappy movie. I think if you talk to the Cast, they will laugh, and nod their heads in agreement with me.

(Spoiler)- You have been warned -

The girl is tempted by an older man with money , a nice car, all the goodies, and a beach house. She "gets it on" with him and they like hanging out with each other in bed. Then, she kind of gets irritated that she seems to be his mistress , because she goes wherever he wants her to ...because he has the money, and therefore the power. She starts noticing stuff like the ring he gave her was actually for someone else first, and she finds out he has a family, wife kids and house. She says "enough" and wants to leave him, he wants to hang on, then stuff starts happening to her, she encounters dangerous situations and it gets almost deadly for her...

This film was shot with a bunch of people in a normal city town environment. An inexpensive way to shoot with everyday characters and a story of romance, love, and hate. This is a good project for a film student to look at for how to make an independent movie. You could make a film like this for 10, thousand dollars or less and it will come out in good quality. A Funny crappy cheap film that viewers get stuck on because its well made.

Not a bad Pedo Stalking movie
ta650421 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from the fact that the main character is a pedophile, (I'll get into that in a minute), this was actually a decent film, for its genre. The film was filled with cliche, after cliche, and unrealistic plot twists. However, what made this film watchable was the lead actress, Cassidy Rae. Not only was she absolutely stunning looking, but in addition gave a surprisingly strong performance. She literally carried every scene of the film to the point you had to keep watching.

Now back to the pedophile part. The film tried to get around the fact that the male lead, was interested in underage girls by pointing out that Cassidy's character was 18. Ok, but what about the fact that he he's hanging out at high school basketball games picking up on cheerleaders. Let's face it, the majority of them are underage, and he never once asked her her age to make sure he was pursuing a legal adult. In fact, the film ends with him back in the stands looking for another cheerleader to obsess over.

That said, the film despite being riddled with cliches, was mindlessly fun to watch. Great sound track too. How they could afford the rights to the Cranberries, 'Dreams" is a small mystery to me. But a pleasant surprise.

Decent film.

Unbelievably written
JGAS4 June 2000
I have rarely seen a movie so poorly written with cliched plot lines, illogical interactions, and ridiculous outcomes. Why did I watch, like others have said, Cassidy Rae was outstanding and she got better looking as the movie went on. The mothers weren't too bad either nor was the final villain. How often do you get a chance to watch some really good looking women, and one beauty I'd never heard of, without having to take the story seriously or even follow it? Tell me again why the athletic team bus stops at a truck stop with a maze of tractor trailers? Tell me again why the police fill her in on the progress of the investigation by calling her on a pay phone in the locker room? How many high school locker rooms have a sauna for cheerleaders to get locked into? How many times in a row can a girl who is in fear of her life go out of her way to get into situations where she is all alone? But she looked GREAT doing it!

just gotta love those cheesy teen flicks!
jadeno19 February 2005
This is just one of those teen movies(with actors actually in their 20's of course) that you love to hate. It's super cheesy but for some reason you watch it straight through to the end. It even comes equipped with the classic to-hot-sauna scene. How can you resist the brain-candy? I'm not sure I could think of much more to say about a movie like this. It's the kind of show you would (or should) never rent, nor go see in a theatre without asking for your money back. That would explain why it's a made-for-t.v. movie, I suppose! It's perfect for the veg-out, rainy-day Sunday groaner!

I wanna see you with your clothes off!
sol121811 November 2010
Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** Great cornball flick from the Lifetime Movie Network about this loved crazed guy, a big time lawyer no less, Derek Badshaw played to the hilt by Vincent Irizarry who's got this thing about making it with high-school cheerleaders. Derek checking out the horseflesh, Pom-Pom girls, at Franklin High notices cute blond and pretty Amy Miller, Cassidy Rea, doing her shake & bake act together with her fellow cheerleaders to spur on the home basketball in winning the big game.

As we and Amy soon find out the only game that Derek is interested in is getting Amy into the sack together with him in record barking time! Staging a car fender bender on Amy's, or really her mom's, car Derek gracefully offers to pay for the damages if Amy agrees to go out to dinner with him. Before you know it Derek starts to turn on the screws as well as his charm on Amy where she just can't resist his advances to the point that he hits pay-dirt, or scores, with her on their very first date!

It's at the hight of this big romance that Amy through an expensive bracelet that he bought her find out what a real two timing creep that Derek really is. The guy is happily married with a knockout looking wife Liz, Jamie Rose, and two young children! Confronted with this embarrassing fact sleaze-ball Derek tries to smooth things out with Amy by telling her that he's planning to leave Liz and marry her as soon as the divorce papers are finalized! The confused Amy stupidly falls for Derek's story only to find out that Liz has no intentions of leaving her rat fink of a husband Derek. That's unless she bleeds him dry of his very hefty bank account in both alimony and child support! Something that the high living flying and spending Derek is anything but willing to give up.

***SPOILERS*** What later comes to the surface is that the hot and horny Derek really has no intentions of not only leaving Liz but spending the rest of his life happily married to Amy! He likes 'em, his women, young and when Amy graduates from Franklin High he'll drop her like a hot potato for the newest cute little cheerleader that he'll scout out at the school's basketball and football games to replace Amy with! In fact it's one of Derek's previous affairs with a high-school cheerleader that put Amy's life in danger! Feeling that Amy stole her hunk of a man away from her Derek's former girlfriend plans to get even with Amy by murdering her!

Corny acting ridicules situations, especially the steam room sequence, and an ending that must have been conjured by someone high on hallucinogenic drugs makes "Laying Eyes" a masterpiece among bad movie lovers. there's also Amy's momma Mrs.Ruth Miller, Sherry Hursey, who in many scenes in the film tries so hard to keep a straight face that has her comes across as if she's about crack-up right in front of the camera before she can finally drum up enough composer to be able to finish her lines!

Typical Lifetime..with a twist!!
meghancmacivor8 March 2024
Listen, I unapologetically love Lifetime garbage movies. My sister and I used to watch them after school and laugh at how nuts they were. I have to say though, the twist in this one genuinely got me! I was not expecting it at all which is pretty rare for a Lifetime flick.

It's too bad that Cassidy Rae left acting because she was really good in this and would've had a great career. The drama is fun and Vincent Irizarry is perfect as manipulative sleazebag Derek. The acting and suspense were good enough that at times it didn't even feel like a straight-to-tv movie. The drama was super fun and worth a lazy Sunday watch.

Fun movie
miltonbhoorquez21 July 2010
I'm a movie Connoisseur. I mean I truly understand, appreciate, recognize, and respect good films (Sophie's Choice, The Color Purple, Forrest Gump, The God Father, etc.). This film posses none of the qualities that make these films great! The acting is pedestrian; I mean, it's not that it's bad acting, it's just, so, average. The plot, theme, and "twists" are very predictable. BUT, for some reason, this is a good, fun movie. Maybe it's so good for its simplicity, for its modesty, or for its innocence.

I came home on a Sunday evening with my girl friend, and as usual, she turned to the lifetime network and began to watch a typical Lifetime I-hate-men movie. I sat down next to her and began to observe (a rarity for me), but for some reason, I was hooked on the movie. I like this movie, and I would highly recommend it to anybody that just wants to sit back and enjoy a simple movie with an obvious protagonist and an obvious antagonist. This movie is intended to entertain you, not to get you to think. It's just a fun movie to watch, and it actually sends out a great message.

Routine stalking movie but through the eyes of it's protagonist Amy, bogging to a possible third party
jordondave-2808516 September 2023
(1996) Lying Eyes DRAMA THRILLER

The intro is like this, an older guy watching from the bleachers inside of a gymnasium a basketball game sees a cheerleader he likes, and upon her driving home, he purposely rear ends her from behind, for the purpose of meeting her. We find out that he is the 33 year old, Derek Bradshaw (Vincent Irizarry) who works in a law firm and she is 18 year old high schooler, Amy Miller (Cassidy Rae) who lives with her realtor estate, single mom, Ruth (Sherry Hursey). Derek tells her, if she wants her car fixed, to take it to his personal mechanic, and he gives her his card. On the following day, when Amy comes to grab her car, they didn't just fixed her rear end but they gave her the full treatment, with Derek coincidentally over there to greet her as well. Derek offers her dinner and when she accepts, he invites for her to come to his beach house. She comes and it appears someone is watching her through the window as Amy is making out with Derek. And it was at this point, Amy's continued relationship with Derek is affecting her studies, her cheerleading and her friends. During at one point, her best friend, just as they are getting ready to go cheerleading, Dana (Ashlee Levitch) grabs her wrist, accidentally breaks the tennis bracelet Derek had bought for her (one of many gifts), and goes to the jewelry store to get it fixed is when she finds out he an already married man with two young boys. When Amy tries to confront him about it, by visiting him in his law firm, Derek convinces her that he is planning to leave his wife over her. Except that by the time Amy bumps into Derek's wife by accident, and invites her to have dinner with them, we find out her name is Elizabeth (Jamie Rose) and that the reason Derek is able to work in law is the result of him working for her dad's law firm. Amy realizes, he had no intention of leaving her wife at all, and that she is nothing more but a mistress, so she cuts him out of her life in it's entirety. Except that, Derek can't take no for an answer, and he begins to stalking her as well. Besides receiving threatening letters, someone's also locked her in the sauna, trashed her locker, with Derek visits her best friend as well as become one of Amy's mother's clients. And if Amy does not want her mom to know about this, then she can't go to the police.

Both of Derek and his wife Elizabeth stalk her for different reasons, for it is obvious by now, Derek may have told his wife 'one' story, Elizabeth that Amy is obsessed with him. At the same time Derek tells Amy a different story that he is divorcing his wife, and that Elizabeth is able to accept that. All of this is the result of Amy not say anything to anybody about what Derek looks like, including her mom. Leaving with her a nightmarish kind of scenario that requires professional counseling and direction, for she needs to tell someone for it's just a matter of when.

I liked the first hour as some teenage girls do not want anyone to know about their rendezvous as it looked like a routine stalking movie. But as soon as it involves a third party is when it suddenly gears toward ridiculousness, that asks more questions than the movie is willing to answer.

A Caution Film: Lifetime Channel Material
FloatingOpera79 February 2005
Warning: Spoilers
"Lying Eyes" 1996 is a made for TV movie. It is suitable for Lifetime Television for Women, though there's nothing wrong with men or young guys watching this film as a caution film. It's based on actual events or at least modeled after something that could happen to anyone in real life. Derek Bradshaw (Vincent Irizarry) pursues Amy a high school cheerleader in her Senior Year (Cassidy Rae). Seduced and under the impression that he has genuine feelings for her, she unknowingly becomes his mistress. This is a plausible plot line. In today's world, we do see a lot of similar cases of older men with girls who are under 18. It's really quite sad because these girls don't have self esteem or enough maturity to realize that it's not always love that marks the relationship. In the case of Derek Bradshaw, he just wanted to have his cake and eat it too. The poor Amy however finds herself in big trouble. Apparently, someone who knows her is angry and jealous. She has received hate mail and her locker has been trashed. This adds mystery and suspense to the movie. A lot of the dialog is tacked on and not polished but the movie is still good to watch, especially to prove a point. There are sex scenes and some graphic material but this means that only mature teens can view this movie. You'd be surprised but Lifetime Original Movies are very graphic and show rape, violence against women and a lot of sex, although in the context of the story its to prove how wrong it is for men to victimize women, as well as serving as a tool of empowerment for women. But be warned. If you are sensitive and don't want to see such R rated content, don't watch.

At first, Amy believes Derek's wife is the perpetrator. But eventually we discover it's one of Amy's friends who was another mistress of the same jerk Derek. It's interesting to note how we see things through Amy's eyes. We think that Derek is a good guy, stuck in an unhappy marriage. But we soon learn that he is nothing more than a lying, cheating scumbag. He's had a long line of young teenage mistresses. At the end of the film, the pig is even seen back at the high school leering at the cheerleaders, picking out his next victim. This is a caution story. Teenage, high school girls must never never agree to a relationship with a married man, no matter how much he sweet-talks you. For the most part, they are just sexually bored and seek affairs. It's not only morally wrong it may be dangerous. When the truth comes out, the consequences can be nasty. Although the part of Amy fearing for her life, being nearly killed on two occasions, may be a little stretched but it was used to emphasize the big mistake she had made in consenting to a relationship with that jerk married guy in the first place.

Wonderful movie
sterlingsilver077 December 2002
For a TV movie, "Lying Eyes" had everything you can ask for. Cassidy Rae was wonderful to look at, as was Vincent Irizary. The story of a older attorny and highschool girl who have a affair which leads to the young girl being stalked by the older mans "wife". The ending is wonderful and suprising. Sure I've seen better acting, and better writing, but it was a wonderful plot and a good use of two hours. I'd definately recommend it again. The suspense was wonderful. "Lying Eyes" is one for the books.

Good movie, not perfect, but will keep you interested till the end
srknightjohn25 January 2014
The movie does a good job of keeping you interested till the end. The thrill factor is the best aspect of the movie. The story can benefit from more work. It has many holes and you can only completely make sense of it by saying it is a movie after all. For example, the villain seems to have the gift to be able to be every where just at the right time. The characters seemed too rushed on the romance part. There are many clichés too. Still, I find it very easy to watch and entertaining. The actors do a very good job and the filming is good too. Although it is not an Oscar winner, I recommend it. As it is does a good job of keeping you interested and trying to figure out who the villain is. It deserves a chance.

For TV film, pretty good
Jennings30 March 2003
My thoughts:

I recently caught this film on TV and it really isn't all that bad. It's no hollywood production, and you won't see computer graphics or visual effects, however it is a good movie. Sometimes I want to watch a drama with good charachter development with a decent plot, and this filled that rather nicely. If your looking for a 5 out of 10 movie or above, don't bother, but if you want a good tv movie and you promise yourself not to over-anaylise you won't be disapointed.

PLOT SUMMERY SPOLIERS CONTAINED:

Hot highschool senior blonde Amy Miller, played by Cassidy Rae (from countless tv-movies and short lived tv shows) falls in love with 30+ year old lawyer Derek Bradshaw, played by Vincent Irizarry (soap opera star). The catch is as the affair goes on, Amy is threatened by a stalker, and finds out that Derek is married. Amy, with the help of her friends Dana and Jen, tries to move past it.

Notes on ending:

Movie had a couple points. One was regard for human life (that Amy saved her attacker, even after all that was done to her). Two, you shouldn't be afraid to tell your parents anything (even if it contains sleeping with a married man with two kids). Three, 30-somethings dating 18 yearolds is very disturbing (the very end I'm sure got that point across). Lastly men are scum.

It was on Lifetime, what you expect? At least we had sex scenes and cheerleaders (easier to get the male viewers I guess).

At least Lujack was in it
vchimpanzee24 February 2005
We've all seen this a hundred times before. Though I find movies like this appealing. And I thought Cassidy Rae did a pretty good job as the 18-year-old cheerleader who finds herself dating a 33-year-old professional man who runs into her with his car. Though the primary appeal for me was seeing Lujack from 'The Guiding Light' all these years later in another role--one where he wasn't the bad boy (or maybe he was). I was addicted to that show during the years of Phillip, Mindy, Beth and Lujack.

But how could this girl possibly think she had a future with this man? One of three things is likely to happen: he's married and keeping his affair secret; he's abusive and has a history with young girls; or a jilted former lover will start stalking his latest girlfriend. Or maybe a combination of these. I won't say which, or whether they came up with a fresh approach in making this movie, but I did enjoy it. One thing I can say: chilling music and a weird camera angle frequently made it look like someone was watching.

Nothing groundbreaking, but not too bad either.

Watch Out For Your Daughters
whpratt13 February 2005
This film held my interest from beginning to end and it kept me spellbound as to just how the ending would turn out and I was quite surprised at the out come. Cassidy Roe, (Amy Miller),"Evolver",'95, was very beautiful and sexy as a young senior in high school who lived with her mom, who sold homes non-stop and did not really pay much attention to her daughter. Her mom trusted her completely, however, Amy ran into a very charming man who was captivated by her wonderful body and youth. This guy was Vincent Irizarry,(Derek Bradshaw),"Marie",'85, who did everything in the world for Amy and made every day Christmas Time. There is plenty of romance and lots of gals chatting among each other in an effort to solve each others problems. If you want to view a very interesting film, try to catch this film on TV.

Two Strong Women
lavatch30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
In "Lying Eyes," a friendship is broken up and a marriage is shattered. But one bond that becomes even stronger is the mother-daughter relationship of Mrs. Ruth Miller and her daughter Amy.

There was an important detail about Amy's father, a university professor who left Ruth after he started a relationship with a female psychology student. That plot strand is developed in counterpoint with the womanizing of Derek Brandshaw, and it tells us a great deal about the mother-daughter relationship of Ruth and Ann Miller.

Amy becomes involved romantically with Derek, a serial philanderer and married man with two children. There is a big buildup to the moment when Derek first walks into his home and announces, "Daddy's home." It is at that moment that the audience recognizes Derek as a liar. Shortly thereafter, Amy learns the truth for herself.

There was a defining moment in the film when Amy found the fortitude to tell her mother about her affair with Derek. Mrs. Miller does not hesitate in supporting her daughter. Indeed, she recalls the moment when Amy was seven and she confessed to her daughter that she was distraught about the break up with her husband. Amy replied, "I'm scared too, Mommy. But it will be better by being together."

"Lying Eyes" was a well-plotted film with an interesting twist about the stalker who is harassing Amy. It turned out that Derek's infidelities had reached to the inner circle of Amy with a jealous, jilted lover. Beyond the actions scenes and the plot twists, the most memorable relationship was that of a mother and a daughter, who were two very resilient women with an unshakable faith in one another.

Scary, Sexy and Entertaining
Saayman6 February 1999
Amy falls in love with Derek, starts dating him, and soon after is being harassed. Who can it be? Amy's jealous friend? Her friend's sister? Derek's wife???

Cassidy Rae, who plays Amy, is a fresh young talent who succeeds in playing her character as a strong, yet vulnerable young woman. Her co-stars are also quite competent. It's a slick and entertaining thriller with a lot of plot twists. It'll keep you guessing and at the same time entertain you. It also features a brilliant soundtrack.

So if you get the chance to see LYING EYES, go for it!

TYPICAL MALE REVIEWS SO FAR
star52-26 July 2000
Sure its innane but must we be subjected to the sexist leerings of men who only watch the lifetime channel for hot bods? How boring! Women have to put up with this on a daily basis without having to run into it masquerading as a "review." I enjoyed this movie precisely because of its shortcomings, predictability and improbability. ITS JUST A MOVIE AND AN ENTERTAINMENT!!!And it does represent a certain reality--that of a lying rat preying on an innocent. Watch it some day
