Amazing series
the-antichrist-is-near13 September 2022
Unlike Unit 13, I did not remember this series from my childhood; nonetheless the premise seemed intriguing enough to buy the DVD some day. And I am glad I did.

Tamar van den Dop is great as the lead; as other reviews said, very natural and convincing.

The writers did a good job at very slowly unfolding everything that is going on. A lot of small details from earlier episodes come back later on; sometimes to make sure there's no plot holes, other times in a more symbolic way. Furthermore, there are a lot of side-stories, or what seems to be side-stories, that also eventually culminate into filling up the holes in the main story.

Cinematography 4/5

Directing 4/5

Acting 5/5

Writing 5/5.

One of the greatest Dutch series ever!!
Bravoman-27 March 1999
Zwarte Sneeuw is in my opinion the best Dutch drama serie ever made. When Eva's father is hospitalised after getting into a coma, she goes out to investigate his life. She discovers that her father wasn't a real nice guy, he was involved in a Russian drug syndicate. The deeper she digs into his past, the more she finds out about her father's past and the deeper she gets into his trouble herself. In the end she is totally mixed up in the whole plot and has big trouble getting out. This serie is Tamar van den Dop's debut on the Dutch screen, she plays the character of a very self confident woman who isn't easily frightened. She is a very natural and convincing actress who is able to really be the character she is playing. After "Zwarte Sneeuw" she was casted as Lorna te George for "Character/Karakter" by Mike van Diem, this Dutch movie won the Oscar for best foreign movie in 1997 (Information can be found in the Internet Movie Database).

In Holland there is always one really good series at the time on television with the best actors Holland has to offer and the quality of these series is always very good. Names as "Pleidooi" and "Oud Geld" are wellknown in Holland and are often exported to neighbouring countries. Although "Zwarte Sneeuw" was a simular project, it was something totally different, it was darker, deeper and overall better than ever. If you get the chance you have to go see it!!

It just doesn't let you go

I saw these series on TV when I was about 12 and didn't get half of it, but even as a child it made a huge impact on me and I never forgot about Zwarte Sneeuw.

I recently purchased the DVD and I was so happy so watch the series again. The series are truly compelling. Not in the last place thanks to Tamar van den Dop who is fantastic in her part as Eva. She is so beautiful and such a great actress.

I also loved seeing Amsterdam (and the world) in the 90s. The whole series now have a nostalgic feel about them. A mystery and search such as those in the series wouldn't be possible these days anymore with mobile phones and the internet.
