Peter Aykroyd, the former cast member and writer on “Saturday Night Live” and brother to Dan Aykroyd, has died. He was believed to be 66. A cause of death has not been released.
Aykroyd’s passing was announced on Saturday’s Simu Liu-hosted episode of “Saturday Night Live.” The program aired a tribute to the late comic in the form of a short film that he had starred in titled “The Java Junkie.” The noir parody features Aykroyd as a buggy character darting around town to satiate his coffee addiction. The short ends with a title card in tribute to Aykroyd.

A.J. Cook is glad to be back where many fans feel she belongs.
After being let go from her role as FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit sleuth Jennifer "Jj" Jareau, the actress was brought back to CBS' long-running Wednesday crime drama "Criminal Minds" for its current season. With the show's seventh round nearing its end, and repeats shown regularly on both A&E Network and Ion, Cook feels as if she never left ... almost.
"Because of all that has happened in the past year, there's a huge sense of pride and accomplishment there," she reflects. "I'm happy to see the long way that Jj has come. I always think back to the first episode, and I don't even know who that character is anymore.
"She's grown so much, and we've watched her grow up on-screen in a way," Cook adds. "I feel like I've done a lot of growing up in...

Michael Moriarty, who starred in such classic films as Who’ll Stop the Rain and Pale Rider, exiled himself to Canada in 1995, following a nasty confrontation with U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno in a Washington, D.C. hotel room. Moriarty was invited along with network television executives and producers to hear Reno’s views on censorship of TV violence. Law and Order, one of the least violent shows on television, was cited as a major offender. Incensed by Reno's campaign to “forcibly end violence on television and trample on rights of free expression as guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution,” Moriarty quit the series and left the U.S. in protest. He has been a landed immigrant in Canada ever since. Why the fateful encounter with Reno led to a radical (and seemingly overnight) transformation of Moriarty’s...

Fans of the Canadian produced series, "Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal" can rejoice. The complete series is available on DVD from Alliance Home Entertainment. Each season can be bought individually or all in one full scoop.
Originally airing from 1996 to 2000, this fictional drama focused on a group of scientists working for the Office of Scientific Investigation and Research (O.S.I.R.), trying to validate claims of encounters with the unknown and dealing with government conspiracies. While "X-files" took off, "Psi Factor" fell behind due to scheduling conflicts and moderate ratings.
One problem stemmed from Dan Aykroyd's claims that these case files were based on actual case logs. There was no validity despite the well-known fact that Aykryod is enamored with the world of the supernatural. But his contribution is not just limited to himself. His father,...

From the vampire and werewolf clashes of The Twilight Saga to the disturbing events of Paranormal Activity, there appears to be no end in sight for the overwhelming popularity of stories in film and television that deal with the paranormal and supernatural.
Although a majority of these hair-raising creations are the product of Hollywood's imagination, like the old saying goes, "There is some truth to every story"; and in my quest to find some truth of this elusive world, I was amazed to discover a gold mine of it in a real-life explorer of the paranormal amidst the entertainment industry.
Christopher Chacon is a world adventurer and paranormal explorer who has investigated more real-life paranormal phenomena than any fictional TV series or movie can depict. And if you think this "calling" is unorthodox enough, it's actually the balancing of this extraordinary work and his creative endeavors in the entertainment industry...

Canadian actor Matt Frewer is probably best known for portraying that icon of 1980s computer animation and music videos, Max Headroom. Headroom's jerks and stutters are but a small sample of this talented and versatile actor's work, though.
On the big screen Frewer's credits go back to Franc Roddam's The Lords of Discipline (1983) and include such diverse material as Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Frankie and Alice (with Halle Barry), Uwe Boll's Darfur and two films for director Zack Snyder: Dawn of the Dead and Watchmen.
Frewer has also portrayed Sherlock Holmes in several television movies and appeared in a long list of TV series. He was a regular on Doctor, Doctor, CBC’s Intelligence and Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal (for which he also wrote a script). He has lent his distinctive voice to characters in animated adventures of The Incredible Hulk,...

When you think "Dan Aykroyd" what springs to mind? Ghostbusters? Obviously. Blues Brothers? Of course. His knockout performance as Britney Spears' father in Crossroads? Probably not. Psi Factor: Chronicles Of The Paranormal? If so, you're probably Canadian. Rosie O'Donnell dressed as a dominatrix? Somebody saw Exit To Eden. But after enduring the following 8-minute infomercial, your perception of Dan Aykroyd will be forever altered. No longer will he be ghostbuster, or blues brother, or Britney's dad, or paranormal-themed anthology show host, or undercover cop at a sex resort with Rosie O'Donnell. After you click play and absorb this infomercial, when you think "Dan Aykroyd" only one image will come to mind: A crystal skull filled with vodka. (via Bwe) Wow. If there was an award for Hardest Vodka Sell (Novelty Bottle Category), Dan Aykroyd would definitely win. I didn't know that...
