- Starring Joanna Kerns and John Shea. Jane Ravenson cannot remember anything about her life, including why she is wearing a blood-soaked dress with $10,000 stuffed in the pocket.
- Jane Ravenson (Joanna Kerns) is at a supermarket but feels confused. She doesn't even know who she is. She suddenly knows that she's married. In the ugly brown coat she's wearing, she finds a stack of notes. She pays in cash, but the hotel clerk tells him that she needs a credit card. She insists and the clerk (Michael Mitz) lets her in. Once in her room, she realises that she's only wearing a nightdress and underwear under her coat, and both are soaked in blood - not her blood as she isn't hurt. In her pockets, she finds a lot of cash money and an appointment written in paper, with Pat Rutherford, 12:30 Tues. Rm. 20. She reads the newspaper to no avail. She buys some tailored clothes for herself and the warm saleslady (Leslie Ackerman) mentions that she hasn't seen cash money in years. Now presentable, Jane puts her old underwear at a locker. Dr. Melloff (Kurt Fuller) checks on her and tries to make sense of her recollections. She doesn't mention the blood under her trench-coat. She can only remember her own name. Melloff thinks that he's running away from some traumatizing event. Suddenly, the nurse (Julia Flood) interrupts them. A man who she can't recognise enters, and it's her husband, Dr. Michael Ravenson (John Shea), who drives her home, and tells her about her previous life. He had called the police because of her disappearance. She finds him and her mansion attractive, so she says "At least, I used to have good taste."
She's got one brother, no sister; her late father is dead; her late mother died in a car accident last year. Her neighbour Carole Garson (Lee Garlington) is watering her plants and greets both of them. She sees her own portrait and doesn't like it. She's got a 7-year-old daughter, Amy (Tiffany Taubman), who is at grandparents'. Michael offers to sleep at the couch for a couple of days while she doesn't remember anything. He gives her mild tranquilizers. Sarah Tanner (Blaire Baron) should be considered her best friend. Her husband doesn't know any "Pat", the name written at that handwritten note. Michael insists in her taking a pill and relaxing. Once closer, Jane notices a wound on his scalp and forehead.
Paula Marinelli (Katy Boyer) introduces herself and offers to make breakfast for her. She is a kind of maid. She got the job while her daughter was at hospital with an aneurysm. Michael operated on Paula's mother against everybody's advise. Jane immediately realises that Paula is in love with Michael. Paula gives another pill to Jane, who remembers herself on a night out with a girlfriend, shouting to a guy who was driving in the middle of the night with the lights off. The plate number is 2MMG686. The asshole tries to run over both ladies.
Jane wakes up and falls from her bed. The phone is ringing but it's Paula who answers and tells Sarah that Jane's visiting her brother. She tells the car incident to Michael, but he tells her that it never happened. She complains to Michael about the secondary effects of the medication. The doctor tells he not to worry about anything.
The following day Michael talks to Carole - she can't remember her or how she likes coffee. Her son (Robert Mailhouse) ignores her orders and leaves saying that he's in a hurry. Carole complains about her non-stop stay-at-home job. She asks her is she remembers Daniel Garson (Cliff Potts), her husband. They used to job together. Carole tells Jane that she's married to the perfect man. Paula arrives to tell her off. Jane decides to come back home and go to sleep. She dreams of a time when she tried to run after Amy, who was panicking on the phone, and she drives to pick her where she's - wither her father. She drives like a maniac and honks to a van driver. A man is on the back seat with her, and then another car crashes onto hers. Jane wakes up and sees Paula's child, and confuses her with her own daughter. She trembles and tries to talk to Dr Meloff in LA, but the operator says there's only a Malcolm. Michael tries to calm her down and says he'll have Paula look for Jane's address book. Jane starts wondering if she needs a psychiatrist. Michael and Jane make love.
In another dream, Tom pushes Amy, and Jane beats him. Michael calms her down until Paula wakes her up to take her medication. The phone rings and Jane doesn't take her medication, hiding it in one of her shoes. Paula is driving and Jane tells her to stop at a school. She realises it's Amy's school. She goes to tell Michael at his pediatric clinic. One of the girls there is afraid of Jane's mad look. She tells Michael that she hasn't taken the pill, and he says he'll consult with the doctor. Jane sees that Daniel has left Carole and she says that both Carole and Michael knew that she was having an affair with Michael. Paula runs after her, but Jane wants to leave. She finds all her ID cards in a shoe box. Michael and Paula appear and give an injection to her. When she wakes up, she notices Michael and Paula talking.
Michael phones friend Ellie (Denise Dowse) talking about a conspiracy. Michael interrupts the conversation. A chemists tells Jane that her pills are given as a last measure for psychosis; she is taking paraffin and it'll cause severe damage (eg Parkinson disease) to her. Finally, Jane talks to Michael, who says that she was involved in a car accident caused by herself and that she truly had a lover. Sarah and Peter (Tom Henschel) visit her; he advises to put her in hospital, but it's worsening instead of improving. When she's about to be institutionalized, she meets the mother (Nataalia Rey) of one of Amy's friends. Then she dreams about Amy not talking to her and trying to get a refund for the blood-stained clothes after six months. Jane doesn't take her pills again while Paula watches her as a hawk. Jane pretends to be about to throw up and locks Paula in the bathroom. Then she throws up and leaves.
She sees a photo of Amy in the classroom with a new teacher. Jane asks Daniel if they ever had an affair in front of Carole, and he laughs it off. Michael told Jane that she was driving when the car accident which killed Amy and Jane's mother happened. Michael is hiding Amy from Jane. Carole doesn't know what to believe anymore. Paula hits Jane to control her. Jane remembers her life and Amy until the day when Jane had an appointment with Pat, Amy's teacher. Pat thinks that Amy has been sexually abused; Jane doesn't want to believe it, so they have a conversation at school. Jane thinks about Andrew (Benjamin Kimball Smith) was the one who touched her, but it was not him; it was daddy.
Jane wants to leave. She accuses Michael face-to-face. In the row, Jane hits Michael and she is the one who gave him the scar. Right afterwards it's when she felt disoriented and lost her memory. Nor Paula or Carole seem to believe her. Jane takes Carole's car- there is a moment of anxiety but finally the police is running after somebody else. Jane visits Michael's cottage. She finds Amy's teddy bear with her grandparents. Jane tells Amy to keep quiet. She takes her daughter away from Doris (Bonnie Bartlett), who's Michael's mother.
The parents of Celine, Amy's friend, don't want to testify. The mother, Mrs Klinger (Laura Innes) says she's sorry, but she won't change her mind. Sarah tries to help her, but Jane is afraid she'll lose the case. Jane wants to run away with Amy forever. Paula phones Jane to talk to her, but she hangs up.
Michael and Jane talk without any solicitor because hers is late. Michael says that she didn't molest Amy, that it was she who entered the bathroom and asked questions, and blames Jane because she tried to direct her life and sex life.
Michael is sure that no judge will send him to jail because it'll be her word against his. However, charges are pressed because Paula speaks up. She is Christine's mother, the girl who was at hospital and was also molested by Michael. Paula is grateful to Jane - if she hadn't listened to Jane she wouldn't have put two and two together.
Michael is declared guilty. Jane and Amy hug when Michael is being taken away. Paula leaves with them both. They are happy.
