Despite Marvel Cinematic Universe’s success through the decades, the franchise is currently facing issues regarding “superhero fatigue” and is failing to hold onto viewership. Amid such tumultuous times, the MCU started witnessing another major problem with actors quitting their films, even before production.

Tim Blake Nelson is excited about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time since 2008 when he played Samuel Sterns / The Leader in The Incredible Hulk. The Leader returns to the MCU in Captain America: Brave New World, which sees Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson picking up the shield after Steve Rogers passed the torch. The Incredible Hulk ended with Sterns undergoing his transformation into The Leader, and Nelson says his look in the new film could be more comics-accurate.
After an accident at a chemical plant exposed Sterns to high levels of radiation, his skin turned green, and his head became enlarged alongside his brain. After dying and returning to life several times, the Leader becomes obsessed with the afterlife and an object called the Green Door, “a metaphysical barrier that connects the Below-Place, the bottom layer of the Multiverse, even below the deepest layer of Hell,...

Actor Sam Elliott is regarded as one of the most talented actors in the industry who is also known for his full mustache and deep & sonorous voice. The actor appeared in the Western drama miniseries 1883 created by Taylor Sheridan. The miniseries serves as the first of several prequels of Sheridan’s Yellowstone and goes into detail of how Duttons came to own the land which is now known as Yellowstone Ranch.
The ten-episode long limited series was released in December 2021 and to introduce the prequel to the audience of Yellowstone viewers, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill appeared on Yellowstone. The stars appeared as James and Margaret Dutton in a flashback scene. 1883 followed the story of the post-Civil War generation of the Dutton family and their journey to Fort Worth, Texas before settling in Montana. Sam Elliott starred as Shea Brennan and had a very surprising opinion when it came to Yellowstone.

Way back when, during the production of the first “Star Wars,” Harrison Ford once joked to director George Lucas, “George, you can type this shit, but you can’t say it!”’
“Of course, that’s the year he gets nominated for an Oscar for Best Screenplay [for ‘Star Wars’ itself]. What do I know, right?” Ford said during an AFI tribute to Lucas in 2005.
For Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Julius Onah, the writers currently credited on “Captain America: Brave New World,” they can only hope history repeats itself.
During an interview with Inverse, “Captain America” star Anthony Mackie relayed an amusing anecdote about working with Ford on the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. In the new film, due out in July 2024, Ford steps in to play Thunderbolt Ross following the offscreen death of original Thunderbolt actor William Hurt. Electric Dragon 80.000 V’s opening narration, delivered by Masakatsu Funaki, informs us that dragons are not mythical creatures, they exist with the bodies of men. That’s followed by scenes of a young boy climbing an electrical pylon only to get a massive shock from the high-tension wires.
This does something to the part of his brain that “we inherited unchanged from lizards” and results in Dragon Eye Morrison frequently getting in trouble for fighting. Attempts to cure it with electric shock therapy only make it worse, turning him into a walking battery. Now an adult he collects lizards and plays guitar to work out his aggression. As the narrator puts it “what saved him from ruin was…The Electric Guitar” as we watch him play.
But ruin in the form of Thunderbolt Buddha has come looking for him.

Phase 5 of the MCU starts Friday with “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.” But five more movies come after “Quantumania”, with “Thunderbolts” being one of the most hotly anticipated. Jake Schreier‘s film sees a whole bunch of Marvel characters connected to Captain America, like Sebastian Stan‘s Bucky Barnes and Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Boleva, team up under the tutelage of Harrison Ford‘s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Surviving the pressure cooker that is the kitchen environment of The Bear is surely preparation enough for the challenges of the MCU. At least, that's what Ayo Edebiri will be hoping, as she's joining the cast of Thunderbolts.
Jake Schreier is directing the movie, with a script by Black Widow's Eric Pearson. Thunderbolts will team the likes of Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, David Harbour's Red Guardian and Wyatt Russell's US Agent for an unconventional team completing missions for the government.
Also involved? Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the returning Val and Harrison Ford, who steps into the role of Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, taking over from the late William Hurt. Edebiri's role is, you'll no doubt be shocked to learn, is a mystery for now.
Confirmed at last year's D23 event, Thunderbolts will be in cinemas on 26 July next year.

Barcelona-based indie studio Filmax is hailing into Content Americas selling the semi-autobiographical series “Selftape,” made by members of a new generation of women TV writers and directors now building in Spain.
Described as fiction with autobiographical overtones, the series revolves around the real-life Spanish actresses and sisters, Joana Vilapuig and Mireia Vilapuig who, in a personal touch, found fame as teen actresses in “The Red Band Society,” one of Filmax’s most successful TV productions ever. A decade on, now 27 and 25, they are now figuring out how to move their careers forward and trying to find their place in the film-tv industry and life in a present which is far from certain. That sums up the malaise of much of their generation.
The sisters co-wrote the series with Ivan Mercadé, Carlos Robisco (“Lucky Strike”) and Clara Esparrach (“Three Days of Christmas”).

Fortunetelling is a great trick, but it only works if you know how to cold read -- absorbing everything in front of you and dropping some meaty guesses about what's on others' minds. Figuring out what's next for one of the biggest media franchises in the world is similar. Only President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige (and those under NDAs) know what's next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, we can take the hints they're leaving and deliver some fun ideas about what's coming next.
We're about to present twelve educated guesses about the next era of the MCU. Based on what the franchise has already shown us, hints from events like 2022's San Diego Comic-Con, well-sourced filming rumors, and (a lot of) speculation drawn from Marvel's extensive comic book history, we predict what's next for Marvel Studios. Michael Cimino could have done worse for his first directing gig — a big Clint Eastwood-Jeff Bridges buddy picture with guaranteed major attention. It’s a simple crime caper for simple audiences, and he pulls it off in style. The Sunday movie supplements celebrated Cimino as a great new talent. His picture still looks handsome and it runs like a Swiss watch — the writer-director even has his vulgar comedy down pat, giving bad guy George Kennedy a few memorable choice bits to play.

2008’s The Incredible Hulk has been largely forgotten in the grand scale of things, presumably because it features Edward Norton rather than Mark Ruffalo in the lead role. However, minor elements from it have been popping up ever since. Most prominent is William Hurt’s General “Thunderbolt” Ross, but the film also featured our first look at a form of the super-soldier serum and a tease at how Bruce Banner would become able to summon the Hulk at will in The Avengers.
But now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted another element nestled away in Thor: Ragnarok that directly references The Incredible Hulk. Reddit user u/Zeophore saw a mysterious scar on the Hulk’s left pec and given that the hero is pretty much invincible, he hasn’t had many opportunities to pick up scars. However, in the climactic fight against the Abomination in The Incredible Hulk, he’s injured by...

Black Widow hits cinemas in May 2020, but insider reports combined with leaks from the set mean that we now have a fairly good idea of what the film’s post-credit sequence will be.
Word is that the breakout character from the pic will be Florence Pugh’s Yelena. She’s the next bearer of the Black Widow codename and went through the same super-spy training as Natasha, but never strayed from the sinister black ops path laid down for her in the Red Room. Apparently, Pugh is knocking the part out of the park and there are big plans for her to continue in the McU.
In fact, we’re now hearing that Black Widow’s post-credits scene will set up her next appearance. We recently got news that William Hurt’s General “Thunderbolt” Ross was spotted on set filming something with Pugh. A couple insiders on Twitter reported that...

The last few months of the year are known as Oscar season because it is the time in which studios release the films they intend to have contend for the Academy Awards. But just because you release your film during this time doesn’t automatically make it good enough to compete. Here are some infamous examples.
Just because you have a good story, an esteemed actor, or a knowledgeable director doesn’t mean you’ll end up with a good film. A good film is ultimately a collaborative effort, and the end result relies on many different factors that may or may not be controllable. I like to believe that the Oscars try to celebrate those moments in film where the pieces came together just right. Of course, some films think they can take shortcuts in order to reach the level of esteem that would be rewarded by the Academy.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “Avengers: Infinity War,” in theaters now.]
“Avengers: Infinity War” continues to dominate at the box office, taking the number one domestic spot for the third week in a row, and grossing $1.6 billion worldwide making it the fifth highest-grossing film of all-time. To put it more simply, Thanos rules. But his shakeup of the McU we’ve grown to know and love over the past ten years has a lot of people asking, just what exactly happened to the characters who were off-screen during “Infinity War”?
While directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been tight-lipped about the plot details of “Avengers 4,” they have been candid about who survived Thanos’ snap, which wiped out a bevy of beloved characters, including Black Panther, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Drax, and many more. In a recent interview with IndieWire’s Kate Erbland, the filmmaking brothers admitted that the decision wasn’t an easy one, but that it needed to be done.

With Avengers: Infinity War coming out this week, Screen Junkies decided to do an honest trailer for Edward Norton's The Incredible Hulk. This was the Marvel movie that came out right after Iron Man and before Marvel Studios knew where they were headed. The movie is part of the McU, but in a way it also feels like the one movie that just doesn't belong because the events of it don't really matter in the McU. The one thing that it really did was introduce William Hurt's General 'Thunderbolt' Ross to the McU. Regardless of the mess that it turned out to be, I still actually enjoyed the film for what it was.
As you might imagine the guys at Screen Junkies had a lot of fun tearing into this movie in their latest episode of Honest Trailers. What did you think of The Incredible Hulk when it was first released?...

Followers of this column are about to do a double take. They will question my sanity, my constitution, and whether I’m now a pod-person. But, heed my words, for they are true.
I traveled a long and hard road from my suburban home 45 minutes north to a different suburb so that I could make a transaction I’d honestly figured I wouldn’t make for years to come. After giving up mainstream comics (and weekly comic purchases) for two years, I handed over three bucks and picked up DC Universe Rebirth.
And I loved it.
Stop laughing at me.
In all the lead up to the big epic oh my Rao event I may have said a few … ahem… embittered words over the whole announcement. And to be fair, a lot of my points will remain valid in spite of my newfound like of Geoff Johns’ epic apology for...

Sammo Hung is regarded as one of the greatest Kung Fu performers of his generation. His high tempo, hard htting fight sequences have captured audiences all over the world. Future generations will look back and watch in amazement, witnessing one of the very best in world cinema.
Peking Opera Days
The Peking Opera school was run from a small theatre by Master Yu Jim Yuen, this was where Sammo Hung would begin his journey. In them days, the stundents would normally enroll for around 10 years, each day performing gruelling tasks for up to 18 hours a day which included training in the Martial Arts, weapons training, acrobatics, acting and singing. The Peking opera of course brought together Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Wah, Corey Yuen, Yuen Tak and Yuen Mo, who would eventually be known as the 7 Little Fortunes. (1981-1989 – The Three Dragons)
After the early 1980’s, Golden Harvest started to branch out into the modern-day world leaving behind the Kung Fu cinema age and progressing into something massive. From 1981 onwards, Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao (The Three Dragons) were about to embark on a sensational journey, progressing from there Kung Fu genre into modern-day Martial Arts and stunt work, something Shaw Brothers were left behind and Golden Harvest was to be the new global company.
Jackie Chan back then headed to the United states to try to break into the international market, but the movies he appeared in didn’t really take off and Jackie was also disappointed with the filming of The Big Brawl. Golden Harvest started in 1970, after Raymond Chow had left Shaw Brothers studios along with producer Leonard Ho and decided to start there own company and go up against the dominance of Shaw Brothers.
Shaw Brothers had been the leading studio for many years, showcasing legendary Directors, Actors and Marital Artists. Raymond Chow and Leonard Ho knew they had to come with something big and make a huge noise in the world of cinema and indeed they did just that. They made a few movies in 1971 such as The Angry River, Lady Whirlwind and One Armed Boxer. But one Actor stood out over the rest, showcasing his incredible talent for the first time in a big movie and his name was Bruce Lee. When the Big Boss premiered in Hong Kong, the audience cheered and mobbed Bruce after the movie had ended.

Looking back at 2012 on what films moved and impressed us, it is clear that watching old films is a crucial part of making new films meaningful. Thus, the annual tradition of our end of year poll, which calls upon our writers to pick both a new and an old film: they were challenged to choose a new film they saw in 2012—in theaters or at a festival—and creatively pair it with an old film they also saw in 2012 to create a unique double feature.
All the contributors were asked to write a paragraph explaining their 2012 fantasy double feature. What's more, each writer was given the option to list more pairings, with or without explanation, as further imaginative film programming we'd be lucky to catch in that perfect world we know doesn't exist but can keep dreaming of every time we go to the movies.

Those of you who are still on the fence about “Fist of Legend” and “Thunderbolt” director Gordon Chan’s potentially mind-blowing martial arts epic “The Four” are strongly encouraged to immediately investigate the trailer embedded below. Not only does it boast some seriously eye-popping visuals, it also features glimpses of a few strikingly sharp action sequences. The sucker’s only 45 seconds long, and, the last time I checked, you had 45 seconds to spare. Don’t act like you don’t, because, deep down, you know you do. Let me entice you with the following synopsis: An undercover agent is assigned by his corrupt chief to infiltrate a rival department and sabotage their investigation of counterfeit currency. What he discovers is the counterfeiter’s real plan. To overthrow the capital. Not by flooding it with funny money, but with an army of undead. “The Four” stars Colin Chou, Anthony Wong, Crystal Liu,...

The King Of Fighters

Based on the Snk Video game series and directed by Gordon Chan (Jackie Chan’s Thunderbolt, Fist of Legend), The King of Fighters is a (relatively) lowbudget independent flick that has little in common with the game from which it takes its name. When I say little in common I mean that the film uses little more than the names of the characters we know and love from the game, and referencing the Orochi, which made up a key part of the story in the early years of the video game franchise (King Of Fighters ’95 – ’97) and has since played a part in subsequent installments – and nothing much else.
