Great story and a funny movie
OJT23 November 2000
Two brothers living an ordinary life together with all their routines. Every day is just like the other, where they live in a rural Small comments, where all they see is the postman and the snow ploughing lorry passing by. Rutine, sole, boring, but it seem not to bother the brothers. Every day is the same, that is until the unknown disabled son of one of them appears. The son is a character which likes eggs. Keeping eggs, not eating them... hence the title...

This film has a lot to offer. Great acting, great story, slow but intense dramatical feel, good humor which makes it pleasant and great fun to watch. Great film of this Norwegian debut-director Bent Hamer!

19 years later: The above was written just after I saw the film on a cinema in Oslo, Norway. Sine then, Bent Hamer has released several important Norwegian films. All are Based around great storytelling, quirky humor, and lonesome protagonists. Going to one of Bent Hamer's films is one of the best treats you can Give yourself as a film enthusiast. I simply look so much forward to every new film from Hamer, that I would recommend any of his films to anybody. Seek them out!

see it two times. notice how you can use as much time as possible on daily routines, find the hidden story, use your brain. This movie may seem strange to people who never have been sitting in the same room for a week, but some people actually live like this, believe it or not.

the actors are excellent, dialogue is "kjempebra"....

hard to describe, just see it, dammit!
