Epix is signed up to British fantasy drama Britannia. The MGM-owned cable network is coming on board as a co-production partner for season three of the Sky series.
This comes after Deadline revealed earlier this year that British pay-tv broadcaster Sky had renewed the show for a third season but Amazon, which was involved in the first season, would no longer be involved.
Epix will also launch the first season of the show on August 2, followed by the second season on October 4 and will be the exclusive home for season three.
Production on season three of the big-budget historical drama, which was written by playwright Jez Butterworth, was shutdown in March as a result of Covid-19.
Britannia stars David Morrissey, Mackenzie Crook, Annabel Scholey and Eleanor Worthington-Cox and was created by Jez Butterworth, Tom Butterworth and James Richardson.

Onetime aspiring actress Dawn Dunning testified Wednesday morning that Harvey Weinstein sexually penetrated her without her consent in 2004 and pressed her for a threesome with his assistant, screaming at her that it was “how the industry worked” when she protested.
Dunning is one of the four prior bad acts witnesses testifying against Weinstein in his criminal case, a group that includes Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra, who told her story last Thursday.

For a while, many were hoping and/or predicting “The Americans” would pull a “Friday Night Lights” at the Emmys: win Best Drama Writing for its series finale and Best Drama Actor in its final go-around just like “Fnl” did in 2011. It came true Monday night, when “Start,” written by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, won the former and Matthew Rhys took home the latter. That one-two punch, however, isn’t the only way their final Emmy runs were eerily alike.
The critically adored, criminally under-rewarded shows were up for the same four awards in their final seasons: Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor, Best Drama Actress and Best Drama Writing (“Always” by “Fnl” executive producer Jason Katims). That’s not breaking news, and yeah, they lost the same awards, which quite a few people predicted as well. But to whom they lost those prizes is notable.

Writer-director Andrew Fleming is one of the best and most underrated makers of comedies today, and his new film “Ideal Home” is delightful in spite of a premise that sounds un-promising.
Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd play Erasmus and Paul, a gay couple who are saddled with Erasmus’s grandson after Erasmus’ ne’er-do-well son Beau is arrested. Trying to evade the police in the first scene, Beau gets stuck in a window, and Fleming lingers on a shot of his behind in tighty-whities in a way that somehow feels more kindly than lecherous; certainly there are worse ways to enliven a basically expository sequence.
Erasmus is a popular and snobby TV food show host based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Paul is his producer; they have been together for ten years and they bicker near-constantly. “Part of me wants to stick around just to watch him die,” Paul tells one of their crew,...

“Ideal Home,” a featherweight big-screen sitcom in which Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd play testy romantic partners who wind up as parental caretakers of a 10-year-old boy, is the perfect example of how a movie can be progressive and retrograde at the same time. It’s supposed to feel cutting edge that Coogan and Rudd, who are both terrific actors, adopt a no-big-deal posture toward portraying a gay couple. If only the movie itself were as nonchalant about it! Written and directed by Andrew Fleming, who has had a fluky, hit-or-miss career but built a good comic pedestal for Coogan a decade ago with the dementedly funny “Hamlet 2,” “Ideal Home” is never not painfully aware that its two main characters are gay. It’s a cozy duet of tit-for-tat bitchery that, at times, carries the nagging whisper of a liberal minstrel show.

Sony Pictures Classics has picked up U.S. rights to Oscar winner Denys Arcand’s upcoming The Fall of the American Empire. This is a follow-up of sorts to the Canadian helmer’s 1986 Oscar nominee The Decline Of The American Empire. Spc has also acquired all rights in Latin America, Australia and New Zealand.
The film explores the predominance of capitalism in a society where all other values seem to have crumbled. It centers on Pierre-Paul, a 36-year-old intellectual with a PhD in philosophy who is forced to work as a deliveryman to earn a decent living. One day, while delivering a parcel, he gets caught in a hold-up gone terribly wrong. With two dead and millions in money bags laying on the ground, Pierre-Paul is confronted with a dilemma: leave empty-handed, or take the money and run?

Despite the devastating mudslides that overwhelmed the Santa Barbara, California community of Montecito last week — resulting in at least 20 deaths and the destruction of 100-plus homes — the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (Sbiff) will go on as usual. A reason to celebrate is “needed now more than ever,” wrote Sbiff director Roger Durling in a letter soon to be shared with festival-goers. He continued, “It is an opportunity for people to gather – reflect – experience – feel – and process,” noting that cinema attendance was strong during the Great Depression.
Launched in 1986, this year’s Sbiff will include films from 58 countries. Numbered among its 45 world premieres is opening night film “the public,” the first feature written and directed by Emilio Estevez since 2010’s “The Way.” Set at a Cincinnati public library, the film follows its homeless and marginalized patrons during a dangerous cold spell. Actress-singer Alexis Arquette, whose TV work included guest stints on Roseanne, Friends and Californication, died Sunday morning in the presence of her family and friends, TMZ is reporting.
Arquette’s resume also included the films Threesome (1994) and The Wedding Singer (1998), the latter of which found her playing a Boy George impersonator, as well as Season 6 of VH1’s reality show The Surreal Life.

The menage-a-trois has a long and storied history. I’m assuming that’s the case, anyway, because few historians have bothered to write down when and where people first started doing R-rated things to each other in threes rather than twos. There are surprisingly few cave paintings on the matter. But we do know that by the fifth century, the idea of three people romantically entangled was not entirely unheard of, to the point where three-way situations were a small but recognizable part of pop culture (on the ancient Greek equivalent of the E! network). And by the 1700s, three-way sex was all the rage with upper crust Europeans in powdered wigs (wig powder, naturally, is a potent aphrodisiac). Famed Italian loverboy Giacomo Casanova first lost his virginity in such an arrangement. Various dukes (William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire) and Counts (Adolf Frederik Munck) are also famous for committing this salacious act. And...

Apparently prosaic, these grids hide portals to the underworld. Follow us down into the sewers of a cinematic obsession
On the face of it, a manhole cover isn't particularly romantic. It keeps a lid on the sewer and a floor on the road. The only time you notice them is when there's steam pouring out around them … or when they're simply not there at all and you fall into the hole one was covering. They're not as interesting as what's above or below, or what happens going between the two.
Pause for just a moment, though, and the cover becomes something far less prosaic. It's covering up a slim, mysterious passage that's already been opened up. Either someone needs access to the sombre underbelly of the street or to preserve an exit route from it. The cover itself means you have to make the decision to get in or out...

So in last Sunday’s much-discussed episode of Brothers & Sisters, Kevin and Scotty considered having a threeway with Kevin’s oh-so-forward ex, Chad.
I didn’t mind that Kevin and Scotty ultimately decided not to go through with it – that seems to fit their characters, after all.
But I was shocked that the writers managed to do a whole storyline about a gay couple considering whether or not to have a threeway … without ever saying a single interesting thing about a gay couple considering whether or not to have a threeway!
No matter. It’s still enough of an excuse to declare this the “Threeway Edition” of B.G.W.E!
Incest, “Fun Buddies,” And Teabagging, Oh My!
Along with Brothers & Sisters’ potential threeway, the big news last week was when easily-manipulated Fox viewers decided to protest the fact that President Obama has already cut taxes for most taxpayers (while...

Josh Charles started out strong, but sure fizzled, didn't he? I mean, he started his career with Hairspray, before heading to the Dead Poets Society, Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead, and soon after, the sexually dysfunctional Threesome. But now he's cameo guy, and there's a new one on the way.
The Hollywood Reporter posts that Charles and Justin Long are joining the Christina Ricci and Liam Neeson-starring After.Life. Long will play the boyfriend of a woman caught between life and death (Ricci), while Charles plays his friend. (Poor guy, relegated to token roles.) This is that long-in-gestation feature that once starred Kate Bosworth, and even had a poster released waaaay back in February of 2007. But it finally seems to be moving forward.

{sidebar id=1}"The hit, the very palpable hit" of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, Hamlet 2 is an irreverent comedy centering on one teacher's overzealous quest to mount a high school musical. The film is directed by Andrew Fleming (Dick, Threesome) from an original screenplay he wrote with Pam Brady (South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut, Team America: World Police); the stars are Steve Coogan (Night at the Museum), Catherine Keener (The 40-Year-Old Virgin), David Arquette (the Scream movies), Amy Poehler (Saturday Night Live), and Academy Award nominee Elisabeth Shue as herself.
Mr. Coogan portrays Dana Marschz; the last name is pronounced...oh, any attempt is close enough, really. Dana is a failed actor-turned-high school drama teacher. Shortchanged...

Andrew Fleming has been tapped to write with an eye to direct Her Guy Friday, a re-imagining of His Girl Friday, for Warner Bros. Pictures. Kimberly di Bonaventura and Deborah Newmyer are producing through their Double Down Prods. shingle, along with the studio. His Girl Friday, which starred Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, in turn was a loose remake of The Front Page, the film version of Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's play. The romantic comedy centers on a macho war correspondent who is forced to take a desk job in the big city. However, he finds that working for his editor, the queen of mean, is harder than working on the front lines, and an office battle of the sexes ensues. Fleming has a history of directing the projects he writes, with Dick, The Craft and Threesome on his resume. He most recently helmed The In-Laws, Franchise Pictures' remake for Warners. He also is attached to direct the comedy Faith Buffalo for Castle Rock Entertainment. Kevin McCormick is overseeing the project for the studio. Fleming is repped by UTA.
