Don't Shoot I'm Just a Violinist (1994) is a comedy directed by Herman Yau and starring Teresa Mo and Sean Lau. Ms. Mo stars as a no-nonsense cop who's in charge of protecting a violinist (Sean Lau Ching-Wan) from a gang of killers. Herman Yau keeps the movie flowing at a smooth pace whilst Teresa Mo gives her usual funny performance. She's (in my humble opinion) one of the most underrated actresses in the Hong Kong Movie Industry. Her comic timing is excellent and she makes the perfect foil. Sean Lau is also good as the naive violinist who pushes Teresa to the brink of insanity.
I found this hidden gem at my local video store. Made during the peak of creativity in the Hong Kong film industry, this funny comedy is highly recommended (if you can find a copy). You'll get more than a few laughs from this one. Herman Yau is also another film-maker who underrated. I can see why Anthony Wong Chau-Sang likes to work with him whenever he can.
Strongly recommended.
