I don't know who it is that thinks having folk/country singers star in movies is a good idea, but it never seems to work (Dolly Parton gets a partial pass here). The clunkers are all out there; Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack, Songwriter, Pure Country, Country Strong, Radical Jack, and the worst offender, Masked and Anonymous. Masked and Anonymous had a bucket-load of REAL movie stars and other talent but could not be saved because Bob Dylan sunk it. Just a worthless waste of film.

These are horrible movies because the singers they have starring in them simply could not act their way out of a paper bag. I guess they are working on the premise that fans of the music will watch the singer no matter how awful it looks. And I suppose that is true, to a point. If they only spend a few dollars making it, they'll probably make their money back from die-hard fans that don't care how bad it is.

Rogers made two of these MacShayne TV movies in 1994. He was trying for a TV series, I guess, and these were pilot movies. They are both filled with clichés and well worn story lines. I won't even bother to tell you about the plot. You've seen this a hundred times before. You'll know the ending LONG before the movie is over.

On the plus side, this was made before Rogers had his botched facelift, so at least he still looks human. Other than that, don't look for anything interesting here.
