Storyline
Plot Summary |
When the owner of the Minnesota Twins dies suddenly, his will bequeaths the team to his grandson, Billy, a devotee of baseball who, although he's only 12, has devoured voluminous lore, knows them intimately, and has shown an uncanny sixth sense of what they need to improve. They hate their manager, so Billy quickly fires the SOB, winning their instant approval. However, this turns to dismay when he announces their new manager: Billy. How will he convince a gang of proud, tough men to stick around and take orders from a kid? On the other hand, what's to lose-- they have nowhere to go but up.

Did You Know?
Trivia | Scott Patterson, who played Twins pitcher Mike McGrevey, had actually been a professional baseball player, pitching on the Minor League level in four Major League organizations during the 1980s prior to becoming an actor. See more » |
Goofs | At the beginning of the film when Billy's three teammates are on third base, the umpire calls everyone out and then is corrected by Billy. However, none of the runners were tagged by the defense so at that time, no one was out. The runner who was standing on the base could have run back to second base and the batter-runner could have run back to first base (touching second) on the way. In essence, all three runners could have been safe at the end of the play if they had returned to other bases. See more » |

Crazy Credits | After the end credits, there's a quick scene with one of the players looking at the chalkboard with all the work concerning Billy's confusing word problem, saying he still likes 8, his guess as to the answer. See more » |
Quotes |
Billy Heywood:
If Joe can paint a house in three hours and Sam can paint the same house in five hours, how long will it take to paint it together? Mac: Now wait a minute, you never said this was a word problem. See more » |
