Better Than It Has Any Right To Be
This film is about a general in a village where he is pretty much hated. To add to this, his wife won't give him relations, preferring the company of her exotic pets, like snakes, rats etc. Realizing he is hated, he disguises himself as Hero Plum and goes out into the village solely to do good. The movie picks up greatly when Anthony Wong plays Plum, the film is more slapstick and there are pretty good scenes of martial arts. Its a comedy first and foremost and, while not laugh out loud, is somewhat amusing. Its inessential nonsense but it has some charm. I would recommend it if you like comedy with slapstick and can check your intellect at the door. Sometimes these kind of films are what we need.
