Vijayendra Ghatge: Inspector Kishore Kadam

Quotes

  • Inspector Kadam : [Cornering Meenakshi Sheshadri]  That's it Damini, better give up. Come quietly right now to the police station or I'll have to use force.

Govind : [Walking on to the scene and taunting Vijayendra Ghatge]  Great job Kadam. You showed a hell lot of agility.

[Meenakshi Sheshadri runs over to him]

Govind : So you've finally been promoted. Department has handed manhandling of women to you.

Inspector Kadam : [Smiling in irritation]  Forgotten the law just coz you've left practicing Govind ? I've an arrest warrant for this woman.

Govind : I too have a piece of government paperwork, called STAY ORDER

[Hands over the papers to Vijayendra Ghatge]

Govind : . Now till the next hearing, Damini isn't going anywhere. So, go report the ones on whose duty you're currently upto and think of a better scheme.

Inspector Kadam : [In a grudging tone handing the Stay Order back to Sunny Deol]  I'll see you again Govind.

Govind : [Sarcastically]  Whenever you wish to, wherever you wish to. Just send a couple of constables over and I'll be available.

[Teasing Vijayendra Ghatge on watching him slip]

Govind : Watch your step Kadam, this case is a bit complicated. If you aren't careful, you'll go rolling over to nowhere.

    [Consoling a crying Meenakshi Sheshadri]

Govind : No Damini, now it's their turn to weep. Common, smile.

  • Damini Gupta : [Screaming after seeing Prajakta Kulkarni's corpse]  Urmi, what happened to her ? All of a sudden ?

Inspector Kadam : Urmi couldn't bear the trauma of this case. She contemplated to suicide for this very reason. Here's her suicide note, we've just done the postmortem.

Damini Gupta : [Crying]  It can't be, I don't believe this.

Inspector Kadam : What's unbelievable about it. The truth is right here in the letter.

Damini Gupta : [Sunny Deol arrives on the scene drunk]  Govind Ji, look what's just happened.

Govind : Damini, read out Kadam Sir's truth on this matter.

Damini Gupta : [Reading the suicide note]  "I can't tolerate this humiliation anymore. The pain is only increasing with each passing day. So I am giving up my life on my own will".

    [Realising the discrepancies]

Damini Gupta : This is a complete lie. This helpless girl didn't even know how to write.

Inspector Kadam : What nonsense are you saying ? This letter was found in Urmi's hand and that's a fact.

Govind : [Replying to Vijayendra Ghatge]  It's you who's speaking nonsense, uttermost. Urmi's hands have a pool of blood on them and this "TRUTH" of yours doesn't even have a bloodstain. Such similar questions will be asked in the court, lots of them. And then I'll ensure you too write this same letter for yourself.

Inspector Kadam : [Snatching the suicide note in a harsh tone]  Govind, you're accusing a duty bound police official. You know the consequences of messing with the police department ?

Govind : [Sarcastically]  Of course I do, in regards to you as well as your police lockup, where several "courageous" warriors display their strength on a guy whose hand and legs are gagged. Tell me Kadam, have you ever gone to a zoo ?

Inspector Kadam : [Irritated and confused]  What ?

Govind : Zoo, a place where even kids throw peanuts upon a caged lion. That's a different thing. If you'll dare faceoff with a lion in open ground, the false notion of your manhood would be gone once and for all.

Inspector Kadam : [Raging]  Govind... ..

Govind : [In a calm voice]  Don't be too loud, preserve this heavy voice of yours for the courtroom, you've to answer a hell lot of questions over there.

[Just as Vijayendra Ghatge is leaving]

Govind : And listen up, go tell Chaddha that Govind is making a comeback to the judiciary.

  • Govind : [Cross examining Viju Khote in the witness box]  So Mangesh, Mr. Gupta has been your employer for the past 5 years.

    Mangesh : Yes.

Govind : And he entrusts you with the repairs and maintenance of all the cars in his household ?

    Mangesh : Absolutely.

Govind : So on the eve of Holi, when one of the cars went missing, Mr. Gupta must've been desperately searching for you isn't it.

Mangesh : [In a slip of tongue]  No Sir, the keys of the gypsy aren't with me.

Govind : [Catching him speak the truth]  How did you know the car was the gypsy ?

Mangesh : [Looking at Amrish Puri and unable to think]  I came to know about it later that the gypsy was missing.

Govind : You mean you came to know that Rakesh used the gypsy later on, correct ?

[as Viju Khote is still unable to answer]

Govind : Ok Mangesh, you can go.

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : [Chastising Viju Khote in a lowered voice]  Bloody fool.

Govind : [Noticing Amrish Puri]  Hold it Mangesh, it seems Mr. Chadda wants to say something. Mr. Chadda ?

Indrajit Chaddha (Scheming Lawyer) : No nothing.

[Scene cuts to Vijayendra Ghatge in the witness box]

Govind : [Cross examining Vijayendra Ghatge in a mocking manner]  Inspector Kadam, is it possible that Urmi cut her throat with the suicide note in her hands ?

Inspector Kadam : [Caught lying on his previous testimony]  I... .I... ..

    Govind : [In a funny manner]  Inspector Kadam I don't understand this I, I, I stuttering language.

    [Turns to Amrish Puri]

Govind : Mr. Chadda are you able to comprehend what Inspector Kadam is saying ? Ohh I forgot, you don't even understand common sensible things.

    [Turns to the judge]

Govind : Your Honor, Urmi's ration card had her thumbprint not her signature. Unfortunately her assassins failed to take a note of this, in the same manner as Mr. Chadda over here doesn't understand common sense.
