Mike Myers and Dana Carvey in Wayne's World: ¡Qué desparrame! (1992)

Tia Carrere Says That ‘Wayne’s World’ Fans Confuse Her With Alice Cooper
Image
Tia Carrere voiced Lilo’s sister in Lilo & Stitch, went on Indiana Jones-like adventures for the show Relic Hunter and acted as Larry David’s “bathroom monitor” on Curb Your Enthusiasm…

…but for many of us, she will always be Crucial Taunt frontwoman Cassandra Wong from Wayne’s World, the beloved comedy/third best Terminator movie.

Carrere’s performance is unquestionably a key ingredient in what makes Wayne’s World work so well. She’s funny, but also finds a way to ground the frequently goofy movie, giving the Wayne-Cassandra relationship a feeling of realism. And obviously the entire climax of the movie hinges on her impressive musical talents. Even in the Scooby-Doo ending.

During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Carrere revealed that she actually turned down a role in TV’s Baywatch after reading the Wayne’s World script. “I thought, ‘It will be mine, oh yes. It will be mine,...

Mike Myers Explains Origins of Recent Canadian Political Activism
Image
As Mike Myers has returned to Saturday Night Live in recent weeks to play Elon Musk, the Canadian comedian has also used his time on the NBC sketch comedy show to support his native country, particularly as President Trump has imposed tariffs and expressed a desire to make Canada America’s 51st state.

At the end of the March 1 episode, Myers proudly showed off his “Canada Is Not for Sale” T-shirt and mouthed “Elbows up” into the camera, twice. In a subsequent appearance, he sported a “Canadian Tire” shirt during the “goodnights” segment at the end of the episode.

The initial act of sartorial diplomacy, Myers said, came as he “got angrier and angrier” thinking about Trump’s comments and tariffs and acted from his heart.

“What happened came from my ankles and from my brain and from my heart, and it was not about me — it was about my country,...

Saturday Night Live's 15 Most Controversial Sketches And Moments So Far
Image
"Saturday Night Live" has been a comedy institution since 1975. It's helped launch the careers of some of the biggest names in the entertainment business, from Bill Murray to Adam Sandler, and brought quotable lines like "Schwing!" and "We are two wild and crazy guys!" to the modern pop culture lexicon. Even if you don't watch regularly, there's a good chance "SNL" has influenced your life in one way or another, and plenty of folks likely have fond memories of watching the show growing up.

But as is the case with anything that's been around for several decades, not everything from "SNL" has aged so well. The late night sketch series has its share of moments it'd probably want you to forget, many of which were hilariously eulogized during the "SNL 50" anniversary celebration. Whether it's jokes that have aged poorly or gags that should have been instantly questionable, to the point...

Roy Thomas Baker Dies: Producer On ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ & Other Classics Was 78
Image
Roy Thomas Baker, the prolific producer who worked with the likes of Queen, The Cars, David Bowie, Devo, Journey and The Smashing Pumpkins, has died according to The New York Times. He was 78.

Baker is best known for his work on one of rock’s greatest and most enduring anthems: Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The sprawling operatic song proved a challenge to record, especially given the technology of the time. Baker and the band had to transfer the tune’s many overlapping tracks across eight generations of 24-track tape, which required close to 200 tracks for overdubs.

“We had to record it in three separate units,” Baker later recalled. “We did the whole beginning bit, then the whole middle bit and then the whole end. It was complete madness. The middle part started off being just a couple of seconds, but Freddie kept coming in with more ‘Galileos’ and we kept...

Exclusive Interview: Director Richard Burgin and Writer/Creator Sean Sullivan Discuss ‘The Slaughter Brothers Dime Circus’
Image
Director Richard Burgin recently stunned audiences with his debut feature, Fang, with the film earning numerous awards throughout its festival run before arriving on Amazon Prime. His next feature project will be The Slaughter Brothers Dime Circus, which is now raising funds on Indiegogo. The fantasy horror film will focus on a mysterious traveling carnival, with the talented performers hiding dark secrets which will ultimately refuse to remain hidden under the surface.

The Slaughter Brothers Dime Circus will serve as an adaptation of a stage production of the same name, which needed to be closed down due to the pandemic, before it was turned into a radio play. Richard Burgin will direct the film, and the screenplay was primarily written by Sean Sullivan, with contributions from Eris Thomas, Stefne Mercedes, and Burgin himself. Thomas was the director of the original play, and Sullivan was the play’s writer and creator,...

Was Chris Farley Almost The Original Voice Of Shrek?
Image
Did Chris Farley almost voice Shrek? (Photo Credit – Wikipedia/Prime Video)

Can you imagine Shrek with Farley’s signature, boisterous energy? The green ogre would’ve been a whole different beast. Instead, we got Mike Myers, who definitely knocked it out of the park, but Farley’s Shrek could have been iconic in its own right.

Farley had already nailed about 80 to 90 percent of his lines before he passed away in 1997. If fate had played out differently, we could have had Farley’s voice leading the charge in the Shrek franchise, possibly even through a sequel (via Cheatsheet). But after his death, DreamWorks had to pivot fast, bringing in Myers to save the day. Farley’s Tommy Boy banter with Spade inspired Shrek and Donkey’s vibe – loud, goofy, and totally Farley-style fun.

But after the actor’s passing, DreamWorks rewrote the character to be a bit grumpier and more seasoned.

Canada Film Day Celebrates Homegrown Movies and Offers a Symbolic “Elbows Up” to America
Image
National Canadian Film Day, a local and global celebration of homegrown movies set for April 16, has received a burst of support from an unlikely source: Donald Trump. The U.S. president’s escalating tariff war and talk of turning Canada into the “51st state” is driving a surge in grassroots support for the annual celebration of Canuck cinema.

The event began in 2014 and now finds itself part of the defiant “Elbows Up, Canada!” campaign. The movement, which takes its name from a defiant ice hockey gesture made famous by Canadian NHL legend Gordie Howe, has seen its slogan become a rallying cry nationwide against the U.S. President’s trade war and threats of annexation.

“Suddenly, we’re in a place where we can say, we have our elbows up. Come join us. Stand up for Canada by sitting down to a great Canadian film,” says Jack Blum, co-founder of Canadian Film Day,...

Saturday Night Live (1975)
What Happened to the 90s Saturday Night Live Cast?
Saturday Night Live (1975)
It seems like every generation of Saturday Night Live mints a whole slew of new comedy superstars. Despite the eighties being rather slow in that regard, in the nineties, SNL once again recaptured the zeitgeist. For the first time since its seventies heyday, the stars of Saturday Night Live were becoming big screen superstars, often in movies produced by SNL’s master impresario, Lorne Michaels, such as Wayne’s World, Tommy Boy, and a few others. This era gave us Mike Myers, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, and so many others.

However, the 90s era of SNL was also rocked by the untimely death of two charter members, Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. Chris Farley always idolized the original cast, particularly John Belushi. Still, in his efforts to live up to his idol, he dove head-first into a food, drug and alcohol addiction that would kill him before the decade was out,...

Mike Myers Boosts “Good Guys” Canada As Election Kicks Off; Endorses Pm Mark Carney, Praises CBC
Image
Skating even deeper into Canadian politics, Wayne’s World star Mike Myers today officially endorsed incumbent Prime Minister Mark Carney, bodychecked Conservative Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre & robustly flew the Maple Leaf flag in the face of Donald Trump.

In the second campaign ad in just over as many days with a Team Canada hockey jersey wearing Myers and Carney patriotically chatting rink side, the longtime US resident told the new Pm how much he hates “bullies.”

Without mentioning the tariff imposing and sovereignty threatening Donald Trump by name, Myers goes on to say” “This is what I can’t stand in the world, and we’re the country that stands up to bullies.’ After a “yeah” from former Bank of Canada and former Bank of England boss Carney, the ex-SNL cast member adds: “I hope, and I know that you will, but I hope we continue to be the good guys.

Dana Carvey Does His Trump, Elon Musk Impressions to Bill Maher Ahead of ‘Real Time’ Host’s White House Visit
Image
Dana Carvey did leave his impressions at home when he went on Real Time With Bill Maher Friday night.

When Carvey sat down with Bill Maher, he did his impressions of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. However, he noted how he’s still “working on” nailing his Musk one.

“So, Trump’s there, and he’s got the tie, and then Elon is up there talking, right? And I don’t really do it yet, but I’m working on it,” the Saturday Night Live alum said, referencing when Musk called out his impression on the sketch comedy show in November.

“We got to go to Mars, because we can’t sustain life on planet Earth. We gotta go to Mars, it’s just gonna be really cool, he continued in his Musk mumbled voice.

Carvey then shifted to his Trump voice, responding to what he thinks he’d say,...

Just Hear Me Out — ‘Wayne’s World 2’ Is Better Than the Original
Image
Making a truly great comedy sequel is very challenging, as humor is an aspect of cinema that can be very hard to replicate. Although not every comedy sequel is an all-time disaster in the vein of Caddyshack II, Beverly Hills Cop III, Airplane II,or Zoolander 2, they often don’t do enough to differentiate themselves from their predecessors. Wayne’s Worldwas itself a surprise success, as it proved to be the best film inspired by a Saturday Night Live sketch since The Blues Brothers was released over a decade prior. While Wayne’s World was a tremendous exception of an unorthodox premise, Wayne’s World 2 is a hilariously madcap adventure that brings out the best in Mike Myers and Dana Carvey.

Dana Carvey Explains the Secret to ‘Wayne’s World’s Success
Image
Most of the youth-oriented buddy comedies that came out in the ‘90s aren’t fondly remembered today. Like, nobody seems to be going to bat for movies like Meet the Deedles, Dead Man on Campus, or Bio-Dome, the film that dared to pair Pauly Shore with one of the Baldwins.

But at least one movie starring two Gen X slackers has stood the test of time: Wayne’s World. Also, to some extent, Wayne’s World 2.

Why are Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar still beloved by 21st century audiences when so many other hugely popular pop-culture characters from the early ‘90s have totally fallen by the wayside? On the most recent episode of the Fly on the Wall podcast’s spin-off Superfly, Dana Carvey offered up a theory.

After discussing an AI-generated Tommy Boy video that he saw online, David Spade proposed that someone could take the same approach with Wayne’s World.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Highlights: Shane Gillis Hosts an Episode That Feels Like It Was Out of the ’80s or ’90s
Image
Look…I know Shane Gillis sells out stadiums, has appeared in Super Bowl commercials, and has leveraged his popularity into a popular Netflix comedy series. I know people dig his jokes and all-around “regular guy” vibe and I really can’t speak as to whether his humor is a reflection of his actual values or just an act that he knows appeals to a certain block of the population. He clearly has pretty good timing and presence, but I am simply not buying what he is interested in selling and based on the in-house audience’s reaction to much of the evening’s offerings of sketches, neither were they.

The evening took off on a rocky note from the jump, with a cobbled together cold open that tried to satirize the off-the-rails Oval Office meeting that took place on Friday between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio,...

Mike Myers Returns to ‘SNL’ With Impression That Dana Carvey Did Better
Image
It’s not the first time Mike Myers has swiped an impression from Dana Carvey.

Myers’ Austin Powers baddie Dr. Evil was a stolen version of — er, a loving homage to? — Carvey’s impression of Lorne Michaels, complete with pinkie finger extended to the corner of his malevolent grin. The unauthorized copy caused the two Wayne’s World stars to be estranged for years, though all comics will reconcile if they get enough cash from Uber Eats.

So it wasn’t a complete surprise when Myers, returning to SNL for the first time since 2015, snuck into Saturday night’s cold open to appear as Elon Musk, a character that Carvey performed in another sketch less than 10 episodes ago. Carvey gets the flu, can’t travel for SNL field trips and this is how his old buddy Myers treats him?

‘SNL’ Highlights: Mike Myers Returns to Play a Glitchy Elon Musk & More (Video)
Image
The deluge of Saturday Night Live Season 50 cameos continued on Saturday, March 1, with former cast member Mike Myers appearing in his first sketch on the show in nearly a decade. Myers took on the role of Elon Musk, an impression his Wayne’s World costar Dana Carvey tried out earlier this season. Here are that sketch and other big moments from Saturday’s episode. Mike Myers returns to play Elon Musk Saturday’s cold open satirized the contentious Oval Office meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with James Austin Johnson and Mikey Day playing the American and Ukrainian presidents, respectively. Midway through the sketch, a hyperactive, glitchy Musk crashes the party, with Myers playing the billionaire businessman. “Donald, what are you doing in my office?” Myers’ Musk says. “You know I’m the president now. I’m kidding! I’m kidding. Ok. Maybe not, maybe not.” “I’m so comfortable with all of that,...

“It’s going to be so boring”: Sofia Vergara Had a Legitimate Fear in ‘Modern Family’ About 1 Co-Star Who Spectacularly Proved Her Wrong

Sofia Vergara became the breakout star of Modern Family. The ABC sitcom saw her play Gloria Pritchett, a Colombian immigrant who marries Ed O’Neill’s Jay and becomes part of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Delgado-Tucker family. Her performance as the loud-mouthed and hilarious Gloria gave her several Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

While the actress was reportedly grateful that she got the role after struggling in LA for seven years, Vergara mentioned that she was afraid of one thing before going on the sets of Modern Family. She mentioned that she was afraid her pairing with Ed O’Neill would make the whole experience boring.

15 Worst Comedy Movies of the 1990s, Ranked
Image
The 1990s are often ranked among the very best decades for film, including for comedies. This was the era of Office Space, Happy Gilmore, and Groundhog Day, among many others. However, even a cinematic decade as storied as the '90s had more than its fair share of duds. Plenty of comedies missed the mark, eliciting groans and eye rolls rather than laughs. For every Wayne's World, there was a Ghost Dad (or three).

What is Lorne Michaels' net worth in 2025?
Image
Saturday Night Live celebrates 50 years on the air in 2025. It also means that creator Lorne Michaels has spent half a century amassing an eye-popping net worth.

SNL's anniversary celebration culminates with a three-hour primetime special on February 16. Michaels will be joined by A-list celebrities, music legends, and countless cast members he helped discover and propel to the top of the comedy world.

Along the way, Michaels has made quite the fortune for himself through SNL and his production company. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Michaels net worth is an estimated $500 million in 2025. To put that in context, that is much higher than Robert Downey Jr.'s estimated $300 million net worth.

Of course, creating and producing Saturday Night Live is responsible for a large part of Michaels' lifetime earnings. But the 80-year-old has also created a media empire that extends beyond the halls of Studio 8H.

Film and television productions have increased Michaels' net worth.

‘SNL 50’ May Not Feature the Show’s Newly-Crowned Favorite Character
Image
While this weekend’s SNL 50: The Anniversary Special has been scheduled for a while now, it wasn’t until very recently that we started to learn exactly which big-name guests would actually be performing.

Last week, NBC announced that the special would feature celebrity laugh riots Steve Martin, John Mulaney and Kim Kardashian. And this week, we finally found out which previous cast members would be returning to Studio 8H on Sunday, via a video in which giant SNL index cards appear to be hung throughout New York City. It kind of looked like Inception, if Inception took place inside of Lorne Michaels’ brain.

The special’s roster of ex-SNLers includes Molly Shannon, Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler, Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Kate McKinnon, Laraine Newman, Chris Rock, Andy Samberg and even Chevy Chase, just to name a few.

Oddly, Kenan Thompson is also listed as a returning SNL alumnus,...

‘Saturday Night Live’ Has a Rough Track Record of Turning Sketches Into Movies. That Doesn’t Mean It Should Stop Trying
Image
We’re celebrating 50 years of “Saturday Night Live”! All this week, we’re digging into the late-night comedy institution with new stories, including lists, essays, interviews, and more.

When “The Blues Brothers” hit theaters in 1980, it opened a Pandora’s Box that would eventually gift Hollywood films like “Wayne’s World” and curse it with abominations like “It’s Pat” and “Coneheads.” John Landis’ ultra-cool film about two brothers on a mission from God to get the band back together was bursting with Chicago blues performances, epic car chases, and enough celebrity cameos to fill a season of “Saturday Night Live.” Grossing over $100 million on a $27 million budget, it proved to many that characters who originated on Lorne Michaels’ NBC variety show were more than capable of carrying their own feature film.

In theory, that was true. With “SNL” exploding in popularity and Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi wading into movie stardom,...

Image
It's hard to believe, but this year, Saturday Night Live turns 50 years old. And now, as its 50th anniversary special approaches, NBC has released a partial list of major A-list actors, musicians, and celebrities who will appear.

SNL50: The Anniversary Special will feature a who's who of major celebrities, per Variety. They include Sir Paul McCartney, Tom Hanks, Kim Kardashian, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Scarlett Johansson, Dave Chappelle, Miley Cyrus, Paul Simon, Robert De Niro, Sabrina Carpenter, Pedro Pascal, Bad Bunny, Quinta Brunson, Peyton Manning, Woody Harrelson, Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, and John Mulaney. 20 Best PG-13 Comedy Movies, Ranked
Image
PG-13 movies are a sweet spot for movie-going audiences and producers alike. Striking a balance between mature themes and kid-friendly entertainment makes movies fun for the whole family. They often also line movie producers' pockets with all the money they can dream of. When it comes to comedy films, PG-13 movies offer everything from slapstick humor to witty one-liners and everything in between.

Just don't expect much in the way of graphic language, sexuality, and nudity. While that might make some audiences concerned that the jokes in these films have been watered down, the truth is that constraint is sometimes the mother of all invention. From Will Ferrell's Anchormanto Mike Myers' Austin Powers, these zany PG-13 comedies hold up.

Updated on February 1, 2025, by Robert Vaux: ThePG-13 rating tends to strike the right balance for comedy movies, where they can take real risks while remaining accessible to a wider audience.

How Did Questlove Make His New ‘SNL’ Doc? Step One: Watch 900 Episodes
Image
Questlove can still remember seeing Billy Preston perform on the first Saturday Night Live on Oct. 11, 1975. Technically, he wasn’t allowed to watch TV, but his parents were Soul Train devotees who wanted their son, then four, to absorb “anything musical,” he says. To get him ready for its 1 a.m. start time, they’d wake him up at 12:30… as Lorne Michaels’ brand-new sketch show was airing. “Back then, Weekend Update was a two-part thing, and then the musical guest would do two songs after, and then [again] right before 1 a.

SNL Cast Members' Movie Becomes Surprise Streaming Success 2 Years After Release
Image
A comedy movie starring and written by multiple Saturday Night Live cast members has suddenly become a streaming success over a year after its release. Since its debut in 1975, NBC's long-running sketch comedy show has served as the springboard for 11 feature-length films based on some of the show's most popular sketches and characters, which have seen mixed success. Their first foray into film came in 1980 with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi's The Blues Brothers, which earned over $115 million at the box office against its $27 million budget.

The success of Wayne's World in 1992, starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, encouraged Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michael to produce more film adaptations featuring popular characters. He brought back 1970s characters for Coneheads in 1993, followed by It's Pat, Stuart Saves His Family, A Night at the Roxbury, Superstar, and The Ladies Man. However, most of these movies struggled both critically and commercially,...

For 50 years, Saturday Night Live has been the launchpad for every aspiring comedian to leap from the stage to the big screen, from Chevy Chase to Pete Davidson. Yet, when one of SNL’s earliest hit sketches with Coneheads attempted to make big screen glory 18 years after they debuted, audiences were not consuming mass quantities.

Lorne Michaels Donates Career Archive to University of Texas
Image
Lorne Michaels has donated a collection of his work on Saturday Night Live and more to the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas.

The collection spans 50 years and includes rehearsal notes for SNL, sketches, annotated scripts, personal correspondence and more. The archive covers Michaels’s early writing on shows such as Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In and The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show through Saturday Night Live, as well as on shows such as The Kids in the Hall and films such as Wayne’s World, Mean Girls and Coneheads.

“Lorne Michaels has kept us up late and laughing for 50 years, and I’m confident for years to come his archive will be studied by students and researchers looking for insight into the social, political, and cultural history of our time. We are deeply grateful to him for entrusting this rich legacy to us,” said Ransom Center Director Stephen Enniss.

Lorne Michaels Gives Personal Archives to University of Texas

Lorne Michaels has given his personal archives — which provide a behind-the-scenes history of Saturday Night Live, as well as the producer’s other shows — to the University of Texas.

The Harry Ransom Center announced the acquisition of “The Lorne Michaels Collection” Wednesday, noting that it spans from Michaels’ early writing work on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In to the feature films he produced (like Wayne’s World and Mean Girls) to his nearly half-century of running SNL, including a never-before-seen look at some of the show’s iconic sketches.

Quick Links What is They Came Together About? They Came Together Has Countless Cameos Fans Were Wrong About They Came Together

With Saturday Night Live's 50th season well underway, many fans are revisiting movies, TV shows, and digital content made by SNL cast members and alums. There are, of course, the films personally produced by Lorne Michaels and SNL, such as The Blues Brothers, Wayne's World, and most recently, 2010's MacGruber, but the impact of SNL alumni extends far beyond this shortlist. NBC's longest-running sketch comedy show has produced some bonafide stars that have a stranglehold on the industry. The talent ranges from Will Ferrell to Adam Sandler to Eddie Murphy all the way to the oft-forgotten Academy Award-winning Robert Downey Jr., but the less famous cast members often still go on to have amazing careers. Whether they go on to star in sitcoms, Broadway shows, or films,...

Why Terminator Genisys Recast The T-1000 With Lee Byung-hun
Image
Terminator Genisys recast the franchise's iconic T-1000 with Lee Byung-hun, but why didn't Robert Patrick return for the role? Outside of Arnold Schwarzenegger's titular cyborg, the T-1000 is the most iconic character of The Terminator movie franchise. Robert Patrick played the role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day and went on to reprise the machine in comedic cameos in Last Action Hero and Wayne's World. The only issue with the T-1000 is that it was such a perfect villain that the series struggled to top it in the sequels that followed.

Despite all their various gimmicks, none of the other Terminator models that came after matched Patrick's T-1000 in terms of sheer menace. Terminator Genisys was intended as a soft reboot of the saga that would take it in new directions, and play with established lore. Outside of Arnold himself, none of the other actors from the series reprised their roles,...

Inside the Immaculate Conception of Dana Carvey’s The Church Lady
Image
Before he pumped us up as one half of Hans and Franz, before he sang about chopping broccoli and before he orbited “Wayne’s World,” Dana Carvey was the Church Lady.

The perpetually pious Enid Strict debuted on the Season 12 premiere of Saturday Night Live — which, amazingly, also doubled as Carvey’s first episode ever — as the host of a cable access show called Church Chat where Carvey, dressed as a good Christian woman in her Sunday best, brought on a cadre of celebrity guests, both real and impersonated, and chided them for their improper behavior.

While the Church Lady was an imitation of a churchgoer Carvey knew growing up, he didn’t shape the character alone, someone else had a hand in it, too. Could it be… Satan?

Nope, it was veteran SNL writer Rosie Shuster who, after being there for SNL’s original run, returned to the writing staff...

Mike Myers Was Intimidated by 'SNL' Castmates: "I Was Scared S—tless!"
Image
Mike Myers was a mainstay on Saturday Night Live from 1989 to 1995, creating such memorable characters as Dieter, host of the avant-garde German variety show Sprockets, the mundane superhero Middle Aged Man, and, of course, Wayne Campbell, whose public-access show Wayne's World became a sensation, spawning the catchphrase "party on!" and two theatrical films in the 1990s. Myers's stint on SNL led to a long career in comedy, with the actor appearing in the Austin Powers and Shrek movies, to name just a couple of his achievements. With so much comedic gold to offer viewers, it may come as a surprise that Myers wasn't always so sure of himself.

In an appearance on Vulture's Good One podcast (via Entertainment Weekly), Myers revealed that when he first arrived at SNL, he was completely blown away by the talent surrounding him.

"When I got to Saturday Night Live and saw how f---ing good these guys were,...

'I Was Scared S—less': Mike Myers Reveals First Reaction to SNL Co-Stars
Image
Mike Myers has admitted he was “scared s***less” when he first met his Saturday Night Live co-stars. The Wayne’s World actor was a cast member on SNL from 1989 to 1995.

Myers may have become one of the most successful comedians to come out of SNL, but he came from humble beginnings in the Second City comedy troupe’s touring company. He has reflected on moving from the smaller-scale Canadian improv scene to a starring role at 30 Rock in an interview with the Good One podcast. “When I got to Saturday Night Live and saw how f***ing good these guys were, I was scared s***less. I had an anxiety attack,” he remembered.

Bowens chopped at the Learning Tree with big right hands. Bowens went to town with a punch-elbow combo. Jericho poked Bowens in the eyes, followed up by a running lariat. Jericho hit a big back suplex on Bowens. Jericho unleashed a flurry of chops on Bowens. Jericho went for a bulldog, but Bowens countered, launching Jericho into the turnbuckles. 'Well, Not This Time': Home Alone Director Explains Passing on Chris Farley After Audition
Image
Watched annually every Christmas season by millions across the world, Home Alone has long been one of cinema history's most celebrated films. Its cast has garnered great praise for their work on the film, though legendary funnyman Chris Farley missed out on being a part of it.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Home Alone director Chris Columbus confirmed the rumor that Farley had auditioned for a role in the classic Christmas movie. When the movie was in the casting process, Farley had not yet found great fame as a part of the cast of Saturday Night Live in the 90s, so he was still a young actor on the rise when he read for the role of the movie's Santa Claus impersonator. Columbus recalls Farley's audition being a bit rough after a night on the town in Chicago, and while that led to rejecting the funnyman for the film,...

Why Judd Nelson Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
Beginning in the late 1960s and spreading into the 1970s, American cinema was revolutionized by the New Hollywood movement. At the forefront of this movement was a crew of directors from different entertainment disciplines who spoke to the exploding youth counterculture with classics like "Bonnie and Clyde," "The Graduate," and "M*A*S*H." The world felt like it was going mad, but the movies were somehow helping us make sense of this descent. Before moviegoers could adjust to this newfangled mode of motion picture art, the film brats arrived. Francis Ford Coppola, Brian De Palma, Martin Scorsese, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg rattled the industry's cage in wildly different ways. It was a glorious time. Then studios, with the perhaps unwitting assistance of Lucas and Spielberg, locked in on a formula: They could make hundreds of millions of dollars off a single movie if they hit the right commercial buttons.

Why Twin Peaks Star Lara Flynn Boyle Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
During the early '90s, there were few TV actresses hotter in Hollywood than Lara Flynn Boyle. After a handful of supporting credits in the late '80s in movies like "Poltergeist III" and shows like "Amerika," Boyle landed a main cast role as Donna Hayward on David Lynch and Mark Frost's genre-bending supernatural mystery series "Twin Peaks." When the show quickly became a pop culture sensation, Boyle was launched to stardom, and she got plenty of opportunities to show off her talents in the show's first season, where Donna is particularly central to the plot.

In the wake of her "Twin Peaks" fame, Boyle appeared in a number of prominent movies through the early '90s, playing Stacy in "Wayne's World" and co-starring in the 1992 Matthew Modine film "Equinox," among others. She was also a prominent face in celebrity news through the decade, dating other stars like "Twin Peaks" castmate Kyle MacLachlan,...

Mike Myers Regrets Making ‘Wayne’s World 2’: “I Had an Entirely Different Idea”
Image
Austin Powers and Shrek star Mike Myers has revealed that he never wanted to make a sequel to one of his best-loved comedies. No, he’s not talking about Austin Powers in Goldmember or Shrek the Third, but the 1993 comedy follow-up Wayne's World 2. Discussing the development of the sequel with Vulture recently, Myers said that he did not want to make the second installment in the two-movie saga about rock fans and public-access TV hosts Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar.

"I didn’t want to do a second one. I didn’t think it necessitated a sequel. I spent a tremendous amount of time with Austin Powers determining why we wanted the audience to come back. We wanted to honor them for having seen the first one and then the first two. … I didn’t know why ‘Wayne’s World’ needed to come back.”

Comparing Wayne’s World 2 to the Austin Powers sequel,...
