Robert Caso in The Naked Truth (1992)

The Naked Truth

3/10

Made for one purpose only (which it achieves)

To show hot women in varying states of undress (the hottest is Courtney Gibbs; the second hottest is bodybuilder Spice Williams, who Spices Up her lingerie in the film's single best scene). The comedy is moronic at worst, below kindergarten level at best, and 90% of the many B-list yet familiar names that Nico Mastorakis miraculously managed to procure for the film appear in one-sequence, take-the-money-and-run-before-they-recognize-me cameos (Brian Thomson has the most substantial screen time). The film practically ended Mastorakis' international cinematic career (he has made only one other film since then, a decade later), and no one who sits through it will ever wonder why. * out of 4.

But I thought Erik Estrada would NEVER be in a bad movie...

You know a film is a flop when its sole selling point is the inclusion of cameos by several C-list actors. It's the last resort when a movie maker knows they have a stinker on their hands with nothing resembling an actual plot or humor. That's the naked truth folks.

This piece of celluloid is what you get when you take "Bosom Buddies" and "The Naked Gun" and have them stripped of everything funny. This is the type of film where a character says "Black Russian" to a bartender and the white bartender responds saying that he's just "really tan". Was that ever funny...ever? This is the type of film where two gentlemen are in side-by-side helicopters and one guy asks the other if he has some Grey Poupon. This is the type of film where some guy ignores a bunch of good-looking women in skimpy swimsuits and instead gets all hot and bothered by some dude in drag.

In short, this is the type of film that doesn't have even a shred of originality and would be destroyed if we lived in a civilized society. I can understand the likes of Bubba Smith, Lou Ferrigno and Zsa Zsa Gabor showing up in junk like this. The saddest moment for me, however, was seeing the wonderfully talented Yvonne De Carlo make an appearance. She deserved to be given more roles in the '90s but not in trash such as "The Naked Truth". 1/10

Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!

(cries) Oh, man! This is just one funny movie; in fact, this is probably the funniest I have ever seen! Ahahahaha!!!

(sighs) Okay, here's why it's so hilarious: "The Naked Truth" is, despite it's name, a very funny comedy flick. Now here's the reasons why this movie is so bad, it's good:

  • First off, the DVD cover. It reminds me of "The Jeffersons" or something.

  • Second, the plot. Someone's bag gets lost at the airport and it just turns into a big deal (Remember that movie that used to be the worst on the Bottom 100 list and impossible to get up about several months ago? Kind of like that.)

  • Third, it has Erik Estrada in it; you know him from "CHiPs," right? Yeah, I thought so.

"The Naked Truth" is arguably one of the best bad comedies right next to "Car 54, Where Are You?" (See my reviews for more.)
