A bummed out HK drama.

Warning: Spoilers
Here's a Hong Kong drama action film about class differences in modern Hong Kong society. Jacky Cheung plays a guy named Peter, struggling with money, and ends up joining a triad organization that his friend Maddy (Lam Ching Wan) is part of. Of course, things don't go well and Peter ends up putting his family and friends in danger. His dad, Ho Ka-Chai (Bill Tung), is the sole provider of the family.

There are some touching family moments and Bill Tung, Jacky Cheung and female lead Maggie Cheung serve up quite some touching drama. Tung and Cheung make a nice father-son team, with Maggie being a mediator and friend. But, the movie does progresses into over-the-top violence and action scenes once the bad triad stuff gets its way, which puts the story into a spin. It's too bad any redeeming qualities in the movie get drown out by the excessive dark and violent scenes.

***spoiler*** The climax was too sad with a bummer ending, I thought. ***spoiler ends***
