There’s no news when we say that the whole world is literally obsessed with some American sitcoms, like Friends, The Office, Parks and Rec, and many more. These shows are on almost everybody’s rewatch: all of us just choose a number 1 series and turn them into a comfort show we watch on every occasion.
However, after Schitt's Creek just arrived, it was clear that Canadian TV has a lot to offer as well. The show is so hilarious and well-written it makes you wonder what else there is in the national store.
So here we have 5 best Canadian sitcoms to check out after you are done (for a while) with Schitt's Creek.
1. Trailer Park Boys (2001-2018)
Well, we couldn't start with anything less iconic, so the choice for the first series in the list was pretty obvious. Trailer Park Boys is a follow-up show that was created after...

Free streaming platforms like LG Channels seemingly add new channels all the time. There are more than 1,500 free ad-supported TV (Fast) channels available in the United States alone, and the amount of time consumers spent watching these channels increased in April, despite it normally being a period where TV watching decreases across the industry.
One thing Fast platforms don’t normally offer, however, are a lot of is live sports. But users of the free streaming service LG Channels will see that change this month, as the service is adding several live events to the schedule on the NCAA Championships Channel (channel 100), including tennis, lacrosse, and track and field events from both the NCAA’s Division II and Division III.
The live sporting events coming to the NCAA Championships Channel starting May 17 include:
Date Time (Et) Event Wednesday, May 17 12 noon Diii Women’s Team Tennis Finals Sunday, May 21 2 p.m.

Gordon Pinsent, the adored Canadian actor whose career hit its peak well into his 70s with an award-winning performance as the heartbroken husband in “Away From Her”, has died.
Pinset died on Saturday evening at age 92, his friend actor Mark Critch confirmed.
The Newfoundland native, a household name in Canada for decades after his many appearances on stage and screen, became known internationally after his Genie Award-winning turn as Grant in Sarah Polley’s acclaimed directorial debut.
His dignified portrayal so impressed Daniel Day-Lewis, who went on to win the best actor Oscar in 2008 for “There Will Be Blood,” that he sent an email to Polley praising Pinsent’s performance as one of the most “astonishing” he’d ever seen.

Murdoch Mysteries is one of the best gems to come out of Canadian television in quite a while, and the fourth season is now available on Blu-Ray. Whether you’re a fan already, or new to the show, I have a great giveaway to go along with this release. The first season and the fourth season on Blu-Ray.
The show takes place in Toronto in 1895, and features William Murdoch as a detective/scientist who is keen on incorporating the latest techniques (including the “finger marks” he is so fond of) into his investigations.
Season 4 kicks off with Murdoch butting heads with the new pathologist who has taken Dr. Ogden’s place. A body has been dismembered, and Murdoch has to find some answers using only a couple of pieces of a body which have been encased in cement. It starts off the season well, and gives us the opportunity to miss Dr.

Kim Cattrall will make a return to Broadway in the upcoming production of Private Lives. The Sex and the City actress previously starred in last year's London staging of Private Lives, which was written by Noël Coward in 1930. Canadian actor Paul Gross, best known for his work in Due South and The Red Green Show, will star opposite Cattrall. Private Lives is the comedic tale of a formerly married couple who accidentally meet up at a resort while honeymooning with new partners. Hereafter (Warner Bros.) Clint Eastwood’s spiritual thriller follows a trio of characters whose seemingly disparate paths converge: Matt Damon as a blue collar Joe who tries to fight against his psychic powers that see “the other side,” Cecile de France as a journalist who somehow survives the tsunami that crushed Indonesia, and a London schoolboy (Frankie and George McLaren) who seeks answers after losing his twin brother. Like all of Eastwood’s films, the narrative construction is tight as a drum, with solid work by all involved. That said, “solid” would have to be the operative word to describe the proceedings here, as well as “unremarkable” and “uninvolving” on an emotional level. Perhaps we expect too much when we see Clint’s name on a film these days, but that’s the flip side of being one of the best. Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

Public Enemies (Universal) Johnny Depp portrays legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger in co- writer/director Michael Mann’s take on America’s first “Public Enemy Number One.” Like many big studio releases today, Public Enemies has it all: A-list talent before and behind the camera, but lacks a heart or soul that allows its audience to connect with it. Film plays out like a “true crime” TV show with re-enactments of famous events cast with top actors and shot by the best technicians in the business, with little, if any, character or story development to hold it together in between. A real disappointment from one of our finest filmmakers and finest actors. The lone standout: the great character actor Stephen Lang as a hard-eyed lawman who’s seen a lot, but manages to retain a tiny piece of his heart. For a better take on the same subject,...

CTF faces indies' wrath
TORONTO -- Canadian independent producers are set to gather today in Toronto to protest the Canadian Television Fund's rejection of a record 64% of applications for TV program subsidies because of reduced government support. The CTF, the main source of subsidies for independent producers seeking to get their TV series on primetime schedules here, said Monday that its license-fee program would subsidize 73 homegrown productions to the tune of CAN$75 million ($50 million) during the 2003 TV season. At the same time, the TV fund said another 129 productions, representing about 64% of the applications, will go unfunded. Last year, the CTF rejected 30% of applications relating to the license-fee program. During the late 1990s, all producers who applied for subsidies received some funding. Among those expected to gather today are producers, writers, directors, broadcasters and actors from TV series that were turned down by the CTF on Monday, including The Red Green Show, The Eleventh Hour and This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
