Lee Chang-dong set Cannes ablaze in 2018 with the uneasily beautiful “Burning,” a loose Haruki Murakami adaptation about the folie à troix between an alienated delivery man (Ah-in Yoo), the wily young woman (Jong-seo Jun) he covets, and the handsome charisma machine who blows them apart. The South Korean director’s sixth film made history as Korea’s first to make the International Feature Oscar shortlist (it wasn’t nominated) but is perhaps best remembered for two scenes: the woman, Haemi (Jun), dancing topless for them to the tune of Miles Davis’ “Elevator to the Gallows” soundtrack, and for its abruptly violent ending involving murder and arson in the nude. Then, there’s a missing cat that may have never existed — pure Murakami.
“Burning” remains a new classic of the 2010s, an elusive portrait of loneliness and desire that never spills on its narrative secrets. It grossed an impressive $718,000 at the U.

There are two Harrison Fords in Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny: a digitally de-aged adventurer battling Nazis over plundered artifacts in 1944, and a retiring college professor reluctantly called back into the high-speed chase life in 1969. The one who gets the movie’s shirtless scene? That would be 1969 Indy, played by the contemporary Ford, now 80, who is shown waking up in boxers and walking across Indy’s New York apartment.
The scene is not played for cheap, age-joke laughs, nor does it look like Ford spent months injecting growth hormones or recovering from invasive aesthetic treatments to prepare. No, this Indy looks like his handsome self, just older, like life has kicked him around a bit, the way it does if any of us are lucky enough to make it to 70 and beyond. And this image of a movie star we’ve watched since his beautiful youth being allowed to...

In 1973, the killer of Welsh teenagers Sandra Newton, Pauline Flynn and Gwendoline Hughes was not caught, despite a high-profile and widespread investigation by South Wales Police. The girls’ families spent the next three decades not knowing who was responsible for brutally taking the lives of their loved ones, or whether he still lived alongside them in the local Neath and Port Talbot communities.
In 2002, a development in forensics changed everything. The cold case was reopened with much pared-down resources, and crime scene DNA was successfully used to identify Wales’ first recorded serial killer. Steeltown Murders is the story of the loss, guilt and suspicion that followed the 1970s murders, and of the perseverance of the officers who were eventually able to provide the victims’ families with the answers they’d been denied years before.
Here are the actors making up the cast behind Steeltown Murders‘ dramatisation of real-life figures and events.

This post contains spoilers for the series finale of "Star Trek: Picard."
The final episode of "Star Trek: Picard" -- called "The Last Generation" -- begins in the middle of an action-movie-style crisis. Starfleet has been infiltrated by a Borg brain virus that had assimilated thousands of young people at the same time. Now compromised, hundreds of Federation vessels have their weapons trained on an enormous starbase, ready to kill everyone. Meanwhile, the cast of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" have gathered on a reconstructed Enterprise-d and charge out to Jupiter where a secret Borg base is hiding. Only once they are able to explode the Borg base, very much the way one might a Death Star, can the brain virus be erased and the assault ended. Also, they would save Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), the son of Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), and finally slay the evil Borg Queen (voice...

In the time it takes you to reach the end of this paragraph, 15 million emails will have been sent. Thirty-thousand tweets will have been published. Three million Facebook updates will have been made. Meanwhile, tens of thousands of blogs, Instagram posts and news articles will have been added to a running total measured in billions. During the biblical flood, the world was supposedly overflowing with water; today we are drowning in gigabytes.
Technology has transformed every facet of our life – and there are few places where that is more evident than how we watch and consume TV.
Our entertainment landscape is unrecognisable from even a decade ago. Today, figures from the UK media regulator Ofcom showed that young adults spend more time scrolling on TikTok than watching broadcast television. Instead, young people have flocked to streaming services – with deep-pocketed giants like Apple TV +, Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video providing an all-you-can-eat television service.

While classic artists like The Rolling Stones had busy schedules of writing, recording, and touring, many made time to cover Irish music. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, here are four classic artists who have covered Irish songs.
Mick Jagger | Evening Standard/Getty Images The Rolling Stones
In 1995, The Rolling Stones teamed up with The Chieftains, a traditional Irish folk band from Dublin, to cover “Rocky Road to Dublin” on the album Long Black Veil. The song, which is originally from the 19th century, is about the adventures and challenges a man faces while on the road.

Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains sings the song, but the Stones back him. The cover features traditional Irish instruments, but The Rolling Stones’ influence is evident, particularly toward the end of the song. Mick Jagger also appears on the album and sings the titular song.

Don Johnson is a personal hero of mine. One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed copy of his 1987 album, “Heartbeat”, which I have hanging on my living room wall. Being a child of the eighties, I always thought he was the coolest of the cool. As a youngster, I got into Miami Vice in a big way through re-runs, and I loved him in action flicks like 1989’s Dead-Bang, and 1991’s Best Movie You Never Saw fave Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Plus, there was Nash Bridges!

When the history books are written to include modern world cinema, one name that is sure to be mentioned as a titan not just of Korean or Asian cinema, but cinema in general, will undoubtedly be that of South Korean maestro Lee Chang-dong. In a career spanning more than 25 years now, starting in the early days of the Korean New Wave all the way till the modern day, Lee has made a mere six feature films, almost all of which are generally considered among the finest. Artist Jim Shaw’s studio is a dream factory. It’s where images and ideas combine in unnatural and often surreal ways, conjuring visual puns like the smiling visage of Esther Williams superimposed with an image of her lover, actor Jeff Chandler, wearing a gown. A matching piece shows Chandler with a hermaphroditic image of Williams in the pose of Botticelli’s Venus de Milo. Both pieces were inspired by rumors that Williams ended their affair upon learning Chandler was a transvestite.

By all accounts, "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" exists as a tribute to Chadwick Boseman. Pretty much everyone involved with the film, from writer-director Ryan Coogler to star Letitia Wright, has expressed their feeling that they on some level made the movie for the late, great actor who embodied the hero in 2018. That feeling, apparently, continues through to the film's soundtrack, which will feature the first new music from Rihanna since 2017. One song, "Lift Me Up," has already debuted, and it's a sweet, emotional ballad infused with care.
/Film's Bill Bria attended a virtual press conference with Coogler, and the filmmaker spoke about how Rihanna returned from seeming retirement for the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" soundtrack. It's a story that features several big-name stars, music made across three continents, and, at its heart, love for Boseman and his legacy.

Starring Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Scoot McNairy, and Winslow Fegley, Lyle presents a new take on mixing animation with live action. And speaking of animated, you’ll also find Shawn Mendes as the musical voice behind Lyly the Crocodile. He doesn’t ever talk, but he can sure sing. And many of Mr. Mendes’s fanbase will likely be thrilled to hear his vocal talents on display. Co-directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, let’s see what all this croc action has in store.
This adaptation begins with showman Hector P.

The classic computer game The Oregon Trail is currently being adapted into a musical from the same team who are bringing “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” to the big screen.
Filmmakers Will Speck and Josh Gordon revealed that they’ve been working with their “Lyle, Lyle” songwriting team Pasek and Paul (Benj Pasek and Justin Paul) to create a dark comedy musical version of the original 1974 video game.
A studio has yet to be attached to the project however, in an interview with Collider, the group shared that it’s in “active development” as they’ve gained rights to The Oregon Trail.
“People are very protective of their IP as they should be,” Speck told the outlet. “These guys have so far been great partners in allowing us to take it and run with it. Also, we’ve made them producing partners, basically.”
