Road House 2: Everything We Know About The Jake Gyllenhaal Sequel
Image
Rowdy Herrington's barroom brain-stomper "Road House" has had an interesting pop cultural journey. When it hit theaters 36 years ago, the improbable tale of Dalton (Patrick Swayze), a highly sought-after bouncer (with an NYU philosophy degree) who gets recruited to clean up a once-successful Missouri saloon that's become "the kind of place where they sweep up eyeballs after closing," received the kind of reviews you'd expect. Roger Ebert understood it (though lacked the courage to declare it the masterpiece I believe he knew in his heart it was), but his colleagues tore the film to shreds for being just about everything that makes it great: silly, boisterous and gratuitously violent. If they hadn't walked in expecting to have their intelligence insulted, they would've noticed that it was punchily written by Hilary Henkin and David Lee Henry and ferociously well directed.

Decades later, people possessed of supreme discernment now recognize that...

Road House 2: Guy Ritchie in talks to direct sequel for Amazon MGM
Image
In recent years, Guy Ritchie has become one hell of a prolific filmmaker, and he’s set to add yet another project to his upcoming slate. According to Puck and World of Reel, Guy Ritchie is in talks to helm Road House 2 for Amazon MGM.

The Road House remake was a huge hit for Prime Video, attracting over 50 million global viewers in its first two weeks of release. Despite the mixed reviews, it was a no-brainer to get the ball rolling on a sequel. It’s clear why Doug Liman isn’t returning for the sequel, as the director was particularly vocal about his battles with Amazon over the company’s choice not to release the film in theaters.

Liman even decided to boycott Road House’s premiere at SXSW. “When Road House opens the SXSW film festival, I won’t be attending. The movie is fantastic, maybe my best,...

The Best Patrick Swayze Movies: Five of Our Favorites
Image
Patrick Swayze was one of a kind. He’s the only actor I can think of who was as comfortable cutting a rug on the dance floor as demolishing a room full of bad guys with his fists of fury. When he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2009, we lost an icon who was never really recognized as the legend he is in his time. In the years since many Patrick Swayze movies have become cult favourites, and with a Road House remake recently a hit, we decided now would be a good time to pick the five best Patrick Swayze movies.

Red Dawn (1984)

John Millius’s cold war “what if” thriller goes down in the history books as the first-ever PG-13 movie. It was also Patrick Swayze’s first major leading role, with him best known up to this point for a supporting role in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Outsiders.

'Road House 2' Reportedly Eyeing Guy Ritchie To Direct
Image
The “cooler” will return, as a hot new rumor finally offers an update on the highly anticipated action movie sequel, Road House 2. While Amazon did not release anything about the project during CinemaCon, a new report claims that none other than Snatch and The Gentlemen director Guy Ritchie is now in talks to helm the movie, taking over from the first outing's Doug Liman, with Will Beall penning the script. Coming courtesy of Puck News, this would see Ritchie reunite with both Prime Video and Road House star Jake Gyllenhaal following the 2023 war movie, The Covenant.

Released last year and directed by Doug Liman from a screenplay written by Anthony Bagarozzi (The Nice Guys) and Charles Mondry (Doc Savage), Road House stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Elwood Dalton alongside UFC champion fighter Conor McGregor, Billy Magnussen (The Many Saints of Newark), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own...

“You’ll hate me at the end of this thing”: Taylor Sheridan Warned Sam Elliott Before ‘1883’ and I’m Glad It Never Got a Season 2
Image
Look, I know I’m about to ruffle some cowboy hats, but hear me out — 1883 never needed a second season, and I’ll die on this dusty prairie of an opinion. Taylor Sheridan warned Sam Elliott, “You’ll hate me at the end of this thing,” and that’s Exactly why it worked.

Rugged, harrowing, and perfectly self-contained, why mess with that, no? Some shows deserve a ride off into the sunset, not a dragged-out sequel that overstays its welcome. So yeah, I’m glad it ended where it did. And if that makes me the villain, do hand me the black hat, and let’s ride.

Zack Snyder, the mastermind behind 300 and Rebel Moon, is stepping into a whole new ring, literally! But Brawler isn’t just another sports movie. With UFC President Dana White involved and filming set to take place in some of the most high-stakes environments, this project is shaping up to be a game-changer for Mma fans and cinephiles alike. While details on casting and plot remain under wraps, early buzz suggests this could be one of Snyder’s most grounded and intense films yet.

Brawler | Zack Snyder is making a mixed martial arts film next
Zack Snyder at an event for Sucker Punch (2011)
Director Zack Snyder is turning his hand to mixed martial arts with Brawler, the story of a fighter who “gets a shot at a UFC championship”.

Following the grimdark space opera of his Rebel Moon movies, director Zack Snyder has announced his next project: Brawler. It’s set in the sinewy, bruising world of mixed martial arts, and will be made in conjunction with Ultimate Fighting Championship and Saudi Arabia’s Government Entertainment Authority department.

According to TheWrap, Brawler will see Snyder reunite with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten, who co-wrote the Rebel Moon films with him. It’s a markedly different project for the trio, though, given how special effects heavy those sci-fi action films were. A brief synopsis reads:

Rising from the rough streets of Los Angeles, a young fighter gets a shot at a UFC championship, battling his inner demons as he fights for redemption.

'1923' Star Robert Patrick Hits Back at Fat Jibes About his Taylor Sheridan Show Character
Image
1923 star Robert Patrick has been sharing some candid comments for those who have made comments about his role in the popular Taylor Sheridan show. The former Terminator 2 actor plays Sheriff William McDowell in the Yellowstone prequel, but his appearance on the show has led to some people asking if he has been wearing a “fat suit” for the role. In a blunt response, Patrick explained why he is not the slimmed-down man many people are used to seeing.

In a video on TikTok, Patrick responded to several rude and, as it turns out, insensitive comments about his weight. In the video the actor said:

“Some people have made some comments about my appearance on 1923. They've actually asked me to my face 'Are you wearing a fat suit.' I said, ‘No, actually, I’m not wearing a fat suit. That’s me. That’s Robert Patrick.' So I...

Amazon's Top-Dollar James Bond Deal Reportedly Cost This Studio Head Her Job
Image
The name’s Bond — and apparently, the price tag on the franchise may have just shaken (and stirred) the executive ranks at Amazon MGM Studios. In a new industry report, it’s being widely speculated that Jennifer Salke, the former head of Amazon MGM Studios, was quietly pushed out of her role — and the final straw may have been her frosty relationship with the gatekeepers of the James Bond franchise, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

Deadline is reporting that Salke's exit — which was spun as a transition to a production deal — was more akin to a firing following a series of misfires at the executive level and friction with key figures involved in the Bond franchise. The removal also comes just a few weeks after Amazon MGM reportedly shelled out an additional $1 billion for creative control over the 007 IP.

The writing may have been on the wall when Amy Pascal...

Amazon MGM | Jennifer Salke steps down as studio head
Jennifer Salke
Jennifer Salke is no longer the head of Amazon MGM, as the TV veteran leaves to set up her own production company.

After seven years in the role, Jennifer Salke is stepping down as the head of Amazon MGM, it’s been announced. The veteran of TV – she was previously president of NBC – is instead setting up her own production company, which will have a first-look deal with her old employer.

Salke joined Amazon in 2018, right as the era of peak streaming began; only a year earlier, the company had acquired the rights to The Lord Of The Rings from the Tolkien Estate for a deal thought to be north of $1bn. Amazon then bought up Hollywood studio MGM in 2021, and Salke became the overseer of the newly-minted Amazon MGM’s film and TV output.

During her tenure, Amazon MGM’s output included the likes of Saltburn and Road House,...

Conor McGregor is Done With Fighting: We Have Higher Chances of Seeing Conor in Hollywood Than in UFC
Image
It’s been a long time since Conor McGregor entered the ring, and now it seems like he’s no longer willing to return either. After his leg injury in 2021, once McGregor took a break from UFC, he seemingly never returned for another fight. He certainly made his Hollywood appearance in the Road House remake, but his Mma career seems done for.

On a more recent note, with a run for the Irish presidency, Conor McGregor seemingly hinted that his career may be moving towards being finished. Speaking at a Bkfc media event, he claimed to be satisfied with what he has done and everything that he has achieved so far, but he noted that “something else” has drawn him.

Jennifer Salke Exits Amazon MGM Studios to Produce
Image
Jennifer Salke is stepping down as the head of Amazon MGM studios. The announcement was made in an internal email to staff by Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins.

She is exiting the company with plans to start a production outfit that already has an overall first-look deal across both film and TV at the studio. Amazon MGM will not be replacing Salke, instead having head of film Courtenay Valenti and head of TV Vernon Sanders handle their separate arms, both reporting in to Hokins.

Salke joined Amazon in 2018, after a hard-fought executive search Roy Price, as the tech giant turned entertainment company was scaling up its original productions. Prior to Amazon, she served as the president of entertainment at NBC and, before that, had a long career in television with stints at 20th Century Fox and Aaron Spelling Productions. Her credits included megahits like This Is Us and Glee.

Speculation has increased in recent months regarding the status of Salke at Amazon, which she first joined in 2018 after a lengthy stint at NBC. Both Hopkins and Salke said it was ultimately her decision to make the change. As part of Salke’s exit, she plans to launch her new shingle via a first-look TV and film deal at Amazon MGM Studios.

Jack Black Promises New ‘Anaconda’ Movie Won’t Forget the Scares
Jack Black
So far, the marketing behind Sony’s upcoming Anaconda has been a confusing one, signaling an adventure comedy that forgets the horror. But one of the film’s stars, Jack Black, has recently revealed that the new film hasn’t forgotten the scares after all.

Black stars alongside Paul Rudd (Death of a Unicorn) in Anaconda, arriving in theaters December 25, 2025.

“It’s a lot funnier than the original,” Black told EW, “but it does have a lot of the original vibes in terms of the scary parts. It’s a horror film for real, but it’s also got some clownin’ for sure.”

While the “clownin'” part of the equation has been evident from the beginning, it’s reassuring to hear the actor confirm that Anaconda will capture the original film’s tone and horror in some way. Just how much remains to be seen, of course, but the film is taking a meta approach.

Conor McGregor Earned More Money in 1 Night Than What Brad Pitt and Will Smith Earned in 2024 From Their Movies

Conor McGregor has been biding his time for a comeback to the UFC ever since he took a hiatus to recover from his injury. Since then, he has starred in a film and has been feuding with Logan and Jake Paul, challenging them to a match which might never happen. He has also been making some wild statements on his social media accounts.

McGregor recently received backlash for comparing his salary to the entire Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev boxing fight. The Notorious claimed that he had earned more money through purse and pay-per-view in his 2021 match against Dustin Poirier than the entire Bivol-Beterbiev fight card combined.

James Bond and the Mad Dash for Franchise IP

The day after she gave up control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon, Barbara Broccoli spent the evening with a Bond Girl, a Bond Girl who helped the MI6 agent defeat a billionaire technology and media mogul seeking global domination.

On Feb. 21, Broccoli attended a Film Academy screening of The Accidental Getaway Driver, the Sing J. Lee film on which she serves as an executive producer. Clad in a maroon velvet pantsuit and sneakers, Broccoli was joined at the hip that evening by the Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, who played the Chinese secret agent and Bond love interest Wai Lin in Tomorrow Never Dies.

In the 1997 film Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan) partners with Wai Lin to battle the tycoon Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce), seeking to leverage his corporate empire to control the world.

Star Wars: Did Jar-Jar Binks Really Die in the Destruction of Alderaan?
Image
Movie Legend: George Lucas once claimed that Jar-Jar Binks was on Alderaan when the planet was destroyed by the Death Star.

Few characters in the history of the Star Wars franchise have gotten quite as much negative attention as Ahmed Best's Jar-Jar Binks, a major supporting character introduced in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, who was intended by writer/director George Lucas to be the comic relief character in the film. Things got so bad that Best later revealed that he considered dying by suicide at the time, posting on social media in 2018 at the bridge he considered jumping from with his young son, noting, "20 years next year I faced a media backlash that still affects my career today. This was the place I almost ended my life. It's still hard to talk about. I survived and now this little guy is my gift for survival.

Amazon Seizing Creative Control of James Bond Sparks Fandom Fears
Image
For the last four years, James Bond fans have been hunting for any sign that a new Bond movie was gaining momentum following the exit of lead Daniel Craig. Thursday’s news that Amazon had struck a deal with Bond rights holders Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to seize creative control of the franchise means the longtime boggy stalemate between the two parties is over, and the new Bond will assuredly move forward.

So why are so many acting like Amazon just beat the living daylights out of 007?

Best-selling author Don Winslow wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Absolutely heartbreaking. The End of an era.” FilmSpeak critic Griffin Schiller opined, “This is quite possibly the Worst thing to happen to this franchise…. It’ll be milked dry.” Predicted another, “Amazon is going to scrape the barrel here and be as shameless as possible.” Plenty of others have written: “Rip James Bond.

‘As The World Turns’ Alum Billy Magnussen To Topline Untitled Jonathan Glatzer Series
Image
“As The World Turns” alum Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes), will topline the currently untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series for AMC and AMC+. Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) was the first to be cast in the project.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the AMC Studios produced drama series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who is engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.

Along with Glatzer, the series will be executive produced by Gina Mingacci (“Killing Eve”) and is one of many high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas put in development, but the first to receive a series order. A writer on such shows as “Succession” and “Better Call Saul,” among others,...

Stephen King's Misery Starring Kathy Bates and James Caan Is a Free Streaming Hit
Image
Stephen King's Misery has become a free streaming hit after dropping on Tubi a few weeks ago. Users of the free streaming service are finding the 1990 adaptation to be a worthy psychological horror thriller that just has to be revisited. At the time of writing, Misery sits in third spot on Tubi's list of most popular films. Other titles currently vying for attention on the platform include the Wesley Snipes thriller, Murder at 1600, Patrick Swayze's 80s hit, Road House, and the demonically delightful Megan Fox horror movie, Jennifer's Body.

Written by American playwright William Goldman, and directed by Rob Reiner, Misery is based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The story follows a writer named Paul Sheldon, who's returning from his retreat where he wrote the end of a successful series of romantic novels centering around the fictional character Misery Chastain. Patrick Swayze's 'Road House' Charts on Tubi as a Free to Stream Hit
Image
Classic Patrick Swayze action movie Road House is kicking butt in the Tubi Top 10. While the film recently received the obligatory remake, with Jake Gyllenhaal stepping into the role previously occupied by the beloved actor, the 1989 original is proving that despite its harsh reviews from critics, the masculine movie can still draw in an audience.

This cult favorite is directed by Rowdy Herrington, and saw Swayze at his charismatic best as bouncer James Dalton, who takes his job at the refurbished Double Deuce roadside bar seriously enough to expand his reach to protecting the small town of Jasper, Missouri against the corrupt businessman Frank Tilghman. With plenty of brutal brawls, sub-plots of redemption, and Swayze’s swagger at an all-time high, the film has continued to be a presence in pop culture for decades - even becoming a running joke in Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy. Ben Affleck Is Gonna Balance Your Books and Beat Your Ass in ‘The Accountant 2’ Trailer — Watch
Image
It’s tax season, and this year that means means two things: creepy H&r Block-mascot commercials and Ben Affleck’s “The Accountant 2.” That H&r Block mascot head, by the way, is a sniper’s dream, not that Christian Wolff needs much assistance with a rifle and scope.

In “The Accountant” franchise, Wolff (Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. In “The Accountant 2,” when an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to “find the accountant,” Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Wolff is on the autism spectrum, which is alluded to in the trailer (posted below).

“Realizing more extreme measures are necessary,” as the logline reads, Wolff enlists his estranged and just-as-deadly brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help. “In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of...

Billy Magnussen To Headline AMC’s Silicon Valley Drama Series From Jonathan Glatzer
Image
Exclusive: Billy Magnussen has been tapped as the lead in AMC and AMC+’s untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series. He joins previously cast Sarah Goldberg.

The drama, produced by AMC Studios, is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Billy Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who are engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.

Magnussen’s Duncan is the co-founder of a Silicon Valley data-mining company.

Glatzer and Gina Mingacci executive produce the series, one of several high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas that were put into development over the last year or so and the first to get a green light.

Magnussen most recently starred in HBO’s superhero movie satire series The Franchise from Sam Mendes and Armando Iannucci.

Prime Video's 'Road House 2' Still in Development, Confirms Lukas Gage
Image
Prime Video's Road House reboot was a major success for the streaming platform, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, a retired UFC fighter who becomes a bouncer in the Florida Keys. The 2024 film was Prime Video's most-watched movie debut to date, as audiences were obsessed with the new take on the Patrick Swayze-led action cult classic. Thanks to its tremendous success, a sequel was quickly greenlit and Road House 2 has finally gotten an update, thanks to one of its (potentially) returning stars.

During an interview with Variety, Lukas Gage revealed that development has begun on Road House 2. Gage played Billy in Road House, who worked at the Floridian roadhouse that employed Dalton, and the pair quickly became friends. Gage isn't confirmed to star in the sequel — only Jake Gyllenhaal has been officially cast so far — but the actor hopes he will return. As for Road House 2's lack of updates,...

Need More 'Road House' After Jake Gyllenhaal's Remake? Now You Can Watch the Original for Free
Image
Pain don't hurt, and watching 1989's Road House won't hurt your wallet, either. Patrick Swayze stars as a philosophical, throat-ripping bouncer in this cult classic action flick. Road House is now streaming for free on Tubi. Directed by Rowdy Herrington (Striking Distance) and written by R. Lance Hill (Out for Justice), Road House was released by United Artists in the summer of 1989. It was produced by action maven Joel Silver; its soundtrack extensively features Canadian blues guitarist Jeff Healey, who also acts in the film as Cody, the bandleader at the titular road house.

Jake Gyllenhaal Fans Will Be Dealt a Crushing Blow on February 20
Image
Jake Gyllenhaal fans have been eating good of late; the Oscar-nominated actor starred in Road House and Presumed Innocent in 2024, the former being a remake of the classic Patrick Swayze action film, and the latter being a legal thriller/procedural series that has already been renewed for a second season. Gyllenhaal is booked and busy in 2025 as he's been confirmed to star in The Bride, the upcoming horror film written and directed by his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal that also stars Christian Bale, and he'll team up with Guy Ritchie for In the Grey, the action thriller starring Henry Cavill. Gyllenhaal has a load of movies available to watch on various streaming services, but the biggest one of all is set to deliver a major blow to Gyllenhaal's fan base in just a few weeks.

Roger Ebert Called Patrick Swayze's Only Western Movie a "Warm-Blooded" Adventure
Image
With as large a body of work as Patrick Swayze had to his name, it's sort of surprising that he wasn't in many Westerns. In fact, he wasn't in any Westerns at all, save for one: a long-forgotten Disney movie called Tall Tale. Though some may consider Road House a modern Western of sorts, as far as traditional horse operas go, only this Disney fantasy flick fits the bill — Pecos Bill, that is. In this 1995 adventure, Swayze plays none other than Pecos Bill, a legendary cowboy who comes to the aid of a young boy named Daniel Hackett (played by a young Nick Stahl). Is Pecos Bill real or imagined? Well, Tall Tale (sometimes called Tall Tale: The Unbelievable Adventures of Pecos Bill) offers few clear answers, but they don't matter much anyway. Patrick Swayze played a cowboy here, and the truth is that we wished he'd played a few more.

Where Was Jake Gyllenhaal's Road House Filmed? Every Major Location, Explained
Image
Of all the legacy sequels and remakes to spring up in the age where IP is king, the "Road House" remake was one of the most underwhelming. Jake Gyllenhaal was really the only reason to watch the anemic remake of "Road House," which arrived on Amazon's Prime Video service back in March 21, 2024 following its South by Southwest premiere earlier in the month. The film left much to be desired, adding yet another facet to the argument against Hollywood's obsession with regurgitating and repackaging existing material.

In comparison to the original, the "Road House" remake took a lot of creative liberties that separate it from the 1989 film, and not necessarily in a good way. For starters, the story plays out in the Florida Keys rather than Missouri. And instead of Patrick Swayze's New York City bouncer, Gyllenhaal plays a UFC fighter who's lured to the titular bar by owner Frankie...

M. Night Shyamalan working on a new movie and book with Nicholas Sparks
Image
M. Night Shyamalan is already hard at work on his next film after the success of the Josh Hartnett-led Trap from last year, which grossed over $82 million at the box office last year. Next, Shyamalan will switch gears toward the romance genre with assistance from best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, yes that Nicholas Sparks, who wrote The Notebook and countless other romance tales.

According to a Deadline exclusive, Shyamalan and Sparks are co-writing a screenplay and a novel together about the same original story featuring the same characters and concept. It is being described as a "supernatural romantic thriller." Little else is known about the actual plot details but the outlet also shares that Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the film.

While Shyamalan is no stranger to supernatural thrillers, he hasn't dabbled much in the romance genre, and Sparks isn't known for writing thrillers, so it is an interesting collaboration,...

Jake Gyllenhaal to Lead M. Night Shyamalan's Next Movie
Image
Director M. Night Shyamalan is working on a new film alongside novelist Nicholas Sparks. The mysterious project is reportedly set to star Jake Gyllenhaal.

Per Deadline, Gyllenhaal is set to star in Shyamalan's upcoming supernatural romantic thriller. Shyamalan and Sparks co-created the story and penned a screenplay along with a novel of the same story featuring the same plot line and characters. Shyamalan announced that he was working on a new film last year. However, not much else is known about the film outside its genre and creators. The film will be produced by Shyamalan's own studio, Blinding Edge Pictures, and will feature Sparks as the project's executive producer.

M. Night Shyamalan and Jake Gyllenhaal's Supernatural Romantic Thriller Features an Unexpected Writer
Image
M. Night Shyamalan is preparing his latest film and inviting high-profile talent to help him do it. Jake Gyllenhaal is being considered to lead the latest mystery movie, but the true twist for fans will be who is actually helping to develop the film.

Per Deadline, Gyllenhaal will star in Shyamalan's next film, which is being described as a supernatural romantic thriller. The big twist here is that the film is based on an original story that Shyamalan co-created with author Nicholas Sparks. Yes, the same Nicholas Sparks behind the novels A Walk to Remember and The Notebook, both of which were turned into hit films. On paper, this sounds like a strange union, but it's a bit more intriguing once you dig deeper.

Shyamalan will work independently on his screenplay while Sparks will do the same with his novel, but it's based on the same original story and will feature the same characters.

Jake Gyllenhaal to Lead M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie, Based on Nicholas Sparks Romantic Thriller
Image
Jake Gyllenhaal is making the visit to M. Night Shyamalan for the writer-director’s next feature, which will share a story with a new original romance novel by Nicholas Sparks. The original narrative is a collaboration between Sparks and Shyamalan, with the former writing a book and the latter writing a screenplay independently.

The film marks Shyamalan’s second time making a feature from literary material, after adapting Paul Tremblay’s horror novel “The Cabin at the End of the World” into the 2023 apocalyptic thriller “Knock at the Cabin.” Whether or not this new project technically qualifies as an adaptation is a bit up in the air, since Sparks and Shyamalan are tailoring the same story to their respective mediums in parallel efforts.

Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan are producing the film through their Blinding Edge Pictures. Sparks’ regular producers Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock are also on board. Sparks serves as executive producer.

Jake Gyllenhaal to star in new movie from M. Night Shyamalan and an unlikely collaborator
Image
Per Deadline and The InSneider, Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the next project from M. Night Shyamalan, which is being billed as a supernatural romantic thriller. Additionally, Shyamalan is working with an unlikely collaborator: Nicholas Sparks, the man behind The Notebook. I can’t say I saw that coming either.

The untitled film is based on an original story co-created by Shyamalan and Sparks. Shyamalan will write a screenplay, and Sparks will write a novel. Both will be based on the same concept and set of characters but designed for their individual mediums. Interesting.

Jake Gyllenhaal In Talks To Lead M. Night Shyamalan & Nicholas Sparks Supernatural Romantic Thriller
Image
Here's one of those bits of movie news that has you leaning further and further forward the more you read Deadline are reporting that Nightcrawler star Jake Gyllenhaal is being lined up to lead M. Night Shyamalan's next movie. And as if that isn't enough to already grab our collective attention, said film is reportedly an original supernatural romantic thriller, co-created by Shyamalan alongside The Notebook author Nicholas Sparks.

Now, you might've picked up on the fact that we say this superrommer (as nobody will ever call it) has been co-created by Shyamalan and Sparks as opposed to co-written by, but that's not an error. Rather, in a similar vein to Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke's parallel, multimedia collaboration on 2001: A Space Odyssey, the filmmaker and author have conceived this creative project together, but will be writing the story in their preferred mediums separately. Both versions...

Black Mirror season 7 image shows Cristin Milioti in the USS Callister sequel
Image
A seventh season of the anthology series Black Mirror will be making its way to the Netflix streaming service sometime in 2025, and it has been previously revealed that Black Mirror season 7 will consist of six episodes, one of which will be a sequel to the popular season 4 episode USS Callister. Now, an image has made its way online that shows returning USS Callister cast member Cristin Milioti (who was recently seen in The Penguin) in the new episode. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.

Created and written by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in...

We Don’t Believe Jake Paul is Fighting Logan Paul But The Official Poster Has a Secret Meaning

Jake Paul. Logan Paul. The younger fights the older, but bluntly speaking, it doesn’t make sense at all. Although fans refused to believe that this bout was about to take place, a poster has been released.

Image
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni‘s legal battle is going to continue and a judge has been assigned to the case.

Lewis J. Liman has been assigned to oversee both Blake and Justin‘s lawsuits that they filed against each other in Federal Court in New York.

An initial hearing has been set for February 3, but the actual trial won’t happen for a long time.

Keep reading to find out more…

At the hearing, Blake‘s team is expected to ask the judge to stop Justin‘s team from continuing a PR war in this case.

Variety reports that the judge has set the trial date for March 9, 2026. This will give both parties time to prepare their cases, or possibly reach a settlement that could cancel the planned trial date.

The judge’s brother happens to be director Doug Liman, best known for directing films such as The Bourne Identity,...

Tom Holland’s 'Chaos Walking' Was an Unfortunate Box Office Bomb
Image
Quick Links 'Chaos Walking' Has an Interesting Premise, But That's It Audiences and Critics Surprisingly Disagree on 'Chaos Walking'

The guy from Spider-Man and the girl from Star Wars in a dystopian thriller? Sounds like the perfect recipe for box office success. Believe it or not, this was a reality for a very short while in 2021. The movie in question was based on British American author Patrick Ness’ series of three science fiction books that were released 13 years prior. While the novels were all award winners in their own right (mostly from the teen category), the much anticipated big-screen adaptation was anything but. Rumor has it that Lionsgate Films, the distributor, wrote the film off during its opening week! With a budget of over $100 million (but only making a measly one-tenth of that back in US gross), Chaos Walking had a lot of promise in its concept and characters but,...

Patrick Swayze's 'Road House' Will Stream on Tubi in February
Image
There's no doubt that the action genre reigned supreme in the 1980s, and helped make stars out of folks like Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Swarzengger. Franchises like Rocky, Rambo, and Conan were all the rage as the decade gave birth to new ones such as Terminator and Predator. Flying under the radar of all of these was Patrick Swayze, who was carving out his own niche as a versatile actor that was more than just muscle. The Outsiders and Dirty Dancing showed he could do more than just fight, and aside from Ghost, it's perhaps the 1989 film Road House that he's most remembered for, and now, after being unavailable to stream for a minute, you can relive all the action for free next month.

Per Tubi, director Rowdy Herrington's Road House will premiere on the free streaming service on Feb. 1, giving you the chance to see one of Swayze...

‘Wolfs’ Director Jon Watts Tells Apple: No Sequel, I Don’t Trust You
Image
Jon Watts revealed in an interview with Collider that his planned sequel to the George Clooney and Brad Pitt-starring caper “Wolfs” would not go forward. Now he’s doubled down, telling Deadline in a statement that while he loved working with Brad Pitt and George Clooney he “no longer trusted [Apple] as a creative partner.”

“I loved working with Brad and George (and Amy and Austin and Poorna and Zlatko) and would happily do it again,” said Watts. “But the truth is that Apple didn’t cancel the ‘Wolfs’ sequel, I did, because I no longer trusted them as a creative partner.”

According to Watts, Apple was pleased by his cut of “Wolfs” and commissioned a sequel. And then: Instead of a wide release, Apple decided that “Wolfs” would spend one week in a limited number of theaters.

“I showed Apple my final cut of ‘Wolfs’ early this year,...

Doug Liman Is Still Mad About Amazon’s Treatment of ‘Road House’: ‘Nobody Got Compensated’
Image
Earlier this year, Doug Liman’s relationship with streaming wasn’t looking too bright. The director behind hit films like “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and “Edge of Tomorrow,” Liman was brought aboard MGM’s remake of the Patrick Swayze-starring cult action movie, “Road House,” in 2021, according to an announcement in Variety, with production commencing in 2022.

This new vision of “Road House” would be headlined by Jake Gyllenhaal and double-down on the intensity of the fighting seen in the original, with Liman crafting it as an event piece for theaters. However, in the midst of development on the film, MGM was acquired by Amazon, who reportedly gave Liman and the rest of the team a choice: a $60 million budget for theatrical or an $85 million budget if it went straight to streaming.

Reports say the production happily took the extra money, but public comments made by Liman in Deadline painted a different picture.
