Even if I wanted to hate this movie, I wouldn't be able to, as it used to be one of my favourite films during my childhood. Even when I watch today, I find it incredibly entertaining. Yes, the movie overdoes a bit the cruelty of the villain and his gang, and the corruptness of his father, but it is still very effective and interesting. Then also, the best part in it is the romance between Aamir and Juhi, which is very well done. The first half of the movie is therefore much stronger, as the second turns into a rather typical action fare of impossible love which has lots of mindless action and dishum dishum. Love Love Love is very youthful, and it captures the social and cultural atmosphere of those times very well, whether it's the music, the costumes or just the overall mood. Aamir Khan is wonderful in this role. Those were the days when his simplicity was his best quality, and which is so missing today. Juhi is the perfect film heroine, who is pretty and bubbly. There are other aspects in the film which I find memorable. The relationship between Aamir and his father is just amazing. Dalip Tahil for once plays a positive role and he does it with utmost conviction. Even the relationship he has with his stepmother is devoid of stereotypes. She may be loud, grumbling and a complete griper who's at times a pain in the behind, but then she is like a real mother, and in one scene towards the end we see that she really treats him like her own son. Bappi Lahiri's music is reflective of the era, and so in particular is the number "We are in Love". Asha Bhosle's rendition of a Pet Shop Boys remake is also great. Nice, innocent and very enjoyable film is this one.
