Hot on the heels of Rajukumar Hirani and Aamir Khan's clever, if not altogether original, takedown of the guru industry in India, Pk, comes what is perhaps the most insanely ballsy Guru vanity project in history, Msg: Messenger of God.Msg is the brainchild of (and pardon me if I bungle this, it's kind of a beast) Saint Gurmeet Ram Raheem Ji Insan, one of India's most flamboyant "saints". The trailer was actually released on the day that Pk hit theaters in a bit of inverse synergy that would make any marketing pro proud. The trailer is as crazy as it is completely incomprehensible. Lots of action, Sgrrji (for short) posing in plenty of beefcake shots, made all the more disturbing by his outstanding hirsuteness, and...

Ek Villain is a tale of love and loss. Umm…… no! It is a thriller about a murderous psycopath. No, strike that. It is a revenge drama with loads of action thrown in. Confused? So it seems were director Mohit Suri and his team of writers. They created some interesting characters but then couldn’t figure out what to do with them.
A cold blooded murderer Guru (Sidharth Malhotra) falls in love with Aisha (Shraddha Kapoor) and decides to change his ways. Their lovingly created paradise is shattered when Aisha is brutally murdered for no apparent reason (this is not a spoiler). The murderer could be a timid middle-class man Rakesh (Riteish Deshmukh) who may also just be your friendly neighbourhood psychopath.
Aisha is murdered a few minutes into the film. The curiosity is aroused. And then the film goes into a cutesy flashback of how the lovers met and fell in love.

Mumbai, Dec 14: Ustad Amjad Ali Khan fondly called late Pandit Ravi Shankar 'Dada', an elder brother. The sarod maestro is saddened by Ravi Shankar's death and says he was a miracle man filled with humility and grace.
"So 12.12.12 has done its damage! And what a loss! I just landed in Mumbai for the release of my book on my father and I heard this tragic news. Another great classical musician Pandit Manas Chakraborty also passed away on 12.12.12. Both were from Bengal," said Khan.
"I used to affectionately call Pandit Ravi Shankar 'Dada', an elder brother. He was like my Guru Bhai. My wife Subhalakshmi and Panditji's.

I love the art of animation, and it's amazing to see how far things have come and advanced over the years. The industry is changing in terms of technology, but what it all really comes down to is telling good stories. There's been a lot of great animated movies this year, and many of them are up for several awards at the 40th Annual Annie Awards.
Some of the movies nomainated include Brave, Frankenweenie, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman, Rise of the Guardians, The Pirates! Band of Misfits, and Wreck-It Ralph. Out of those films my favorite is a toss up between Wreck-It Ralph and ParaNorman, those were two pretty incredible films. I think ParaNorman has the edge though.
Some of the other animated properties nominated are Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, Disney Tron: Uprising, Justice League: Doom, Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special', South Park ‘Raising the Bar’, and several others.

Back in May of 2011, when the YouTube Original Channels Initiative was still just fancy-sounding mumbo jumbo, 25 innovative YouTube Partners won the first ever NextUp competition, securing $35k to fund their content. Over the next year, with Original Channels now forming the sturdy backbone of the site's creative base, YouTube decided to zero in a little, and targeted chefs and foodies for a specific NextUp contest as well as particularly funny men and women during YouTube Next Comic. Now, YouTube has zeroed in on a new category of Creators to throw money at. Having exhausted everyone who can make you laugh, they've decided to target the people who tended to suck the humor out of our collective adolescence. That's right, they're targeting teachers. YouTube has announced the Next Edu Guru contest in conjunction with Khan Academy, the YouTube channel that would've made high school bio a lot easier if I had known about it back then.

What I’m about to tell you may seem shocking, given that you all must think my entire week is taken up by laboring over each of my beautiful, wonderful, perfectly polished and amazingly insightful columns (really, they’re good enough for framing, every one), and that’s 100% true. But I’m an excellent multi-tasker (it’s one of my secret superheroine powers, along with the Gift of Ocd), and so at the same time as I am cogitating about, compiling, and composing said columns, I’m also magically working a regular 9-5 – or sometimes 10-6, Odin and all his Asgardians bless flex-time.
So, like some of you other folks out there who are concerned with paying the bills and all that nonsense and thus have desk jobs, I sometimes spend my lunch time stuck in front of my office computer with just a few free minutes to obtain sustenance...

Turning a movie into the latest theme park ride is perhaps one of the ultimate Hollywood back-slaps. Nothing expresses a lasting cinematic legacy quite like a three-hour queue and a novelty roller coaster carriage culminating in a 30-second nausea-inducing thrill ride sometimes amped up with glorious digital 3D. A lot of the time it’s just plain fun.
It seems there’s a gap in the market for more restrained cinema rides. Transformers: The Ride-3D recently opened at Universal Studios Hollywood and no doubt captures the in-your-face visual bombast of the Transformers films, while even the visceral horror of the Saw franchise has its own ride at Thorpe Park in the UK. But perhaps there’s room for a new generation of theme park rides that skew older by celebrating the movies that make us argue all the way home from the cinema and inspire us to furiously debate the big questions in life.

New York — Lyrically, Nas has been at a higher altitude than his peers since the beginning of his career. His verbal achievements have become legendary. While admittedly, Nas sometimes has questionable beat selections, the Queensbridge native's words have been so piercing that the guy can frankly get away with rapping over anything. And he has.
Last year when Esco announced that he would be following up his album Untitled with a duet LP with a star outside of genre, Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, some of his fans didn't know what to think. But if there is anyone who could actually pull it off, it's Nas. Certainly there would be way more public pushback if, say, a Jay-z, Eminem, T.I. or Young Jeezy would have set out on such an audacious musical venture. But with Nas,...
