Demi Moore is one of the most celebrated actresses in Hollywood. Ever since her debut with the 1981 movie Choices, Moore has had a glorious filmography with acclaimed and commercially successful films like Parasite, About Last Night, The Seventh Sign, We’re No Angels, Ghost, Indecent Proposal, Disclosure, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Bobby, Mr Books, Flawless, Margin Call and Songbird. Her career saw a stupendous resurgence with the 2024 film The Substance. The movie won her a tremendous critical acclaim, including an Oscar nomination. However, she lost the Best Actress award to Mikey Madison (Anora). But her rich legacy when it comes to her filmography remains untouched. Here’s looking at her stellar net worth and assets.

Revisiting Demi Moore’s “Tales from the Crypt” Episode ‘Dead Right’
Image
Star gazing is unavoidable whenever watching Tales from the Crypt. In this beloved anthology series, you typically find actors who were in the early days of their career, but there were also occasions where even more established celebs were dying to work with the Cryptkeeper. One notable instance of the latter was in Season Two’s opener “Dead Right” — this macabre delivery of just deserts featured Demi Moore after she starred in Ghost, the top-grossing film of 1990, and it was shortly before she would go on to become the highest-paid actress of the decade.

Unlike other actors who sought out their spots in Tales from the Crypt, Moore was directly asked to star in an episode. “We were looking for the perfect person, and it occurred to us that the role [of Cathy Marno] was tailor-made for Demi Moore,” recalled Crypt producer William Teitler. And as luck would have it, Moore was a friend of co-producer Joel Silver.

Wolf Creek Director Sets Sights on Biblical Horror Film The First Exorcist
Image
The director of the hit Australian horror movie Wolf Creek, Greg McLean, has his sights set on his next project: a possession thriller titled The First Exorcist. McLean directed Wolf Creek back in 2005, as well as its sequel in 2013, and the television spinoff series of the same name in 2016. Hes also responsible for the underrated horror gem The Belko Experiment, which centers around a group of office workers trapped inside a building who are given explicit instructions to kill one another, lest they be killed themselves.

Per Deadline, McLean will team with producer Mark Fennessy to deliver The First Exorcist, which is expected to begin shooting in Australia next year. Called a "spellbinding fusion of religious and supernatural events set in Biblical times," the film follows a mothers quest to rid her daughter of demons, and while no casting announcements have been made just yet, the plot sheds some light...

Demi Moore Almost Quit Acting Before Her Role in The Substance
Image
Demi Moore's role in The Substance saved her from considering leaving Hollywood for good. The film has received critical acclaim, with a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes among 44 critics. Moore's decision to take on the challenging role shows her desire to push boundaries and explore new themes.

Demi Moore, the star of the upcoming critically-acclaimed horror movie The Substance, has revealed that she was considering a permanent exit from Hollywood before her role in the new body horror film came along. Moore appears alongside Dennis Quaid and Margaret Qualley in The Substance as Elisabeth Sparkle, the aging star of an aerobic show who is unceremoniously fired from her job, and goes to extreme measures in order to restore her body to its youthful appearance. Helmed by Revenge director Coralie Fargeat, The Substance competed for the prestigious Palme d'Or at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and will debut on...

The Demi Moore Comeback Is Here with ‘The Substance’: ‘This Was a Part of Waking Myself Up’
Image
We know the drill: When Hollywood actresses hit a certain age, they’re pushed off the industry conveyor belt. Some find a few roles, or perhaps a gig as a brand ambassador, spokesperson, or fitness guru. That’s the world of Elisabeth Sparkle, as played by Demi Moore, in Coralie Fargeat’s body-horror industry satire “The Substance.” However, this film represents the best role in the 61-year-old Moore’s career.

In the mid-1990s, Moore was a star after “St. Elmo’s Fire,” “Ghost,” “A Few Good Men,” “Indecent Proposal,” “Disclosure.” She hit her financial peak with the 1996 “Striptease” — $12 million, which inspired snarky asides of “Gimme Moore” — but the reviews were bad and the box office not much better. Her career shifted into smaller movies and smaller roles (including a standout turn in 2011’s “Margin Call”), many of which didn’t deserve her presence and, well, sparkle.

This year Moore had...

Film Review: Fetus (2020) by Ook Budiyono
Image
While hardly a new topic within the genre, the horror of pregnancy has been tackled from major Hollywood productions “Rosemary’s Baby” and “The Seventh Sign” to indie fare like “Devil’s Due” and “Prevenge.” Even efforts from around the world, like the French “Inside” or Australian “The Clinic” have tackled the issue, which opens the door for Indonesia to go head-long into the subject matter with first-timer Ook Budiyono’s new feature “Fetus.”

In the early stages of pregnancy, young mother Dinar (Jill Gladys) and her husband Randu (Reuben Elishama Hadju) are ecstatic to learn all’s going well and to carry on with their lives as the day approaches. As she begins to get stressed out, thinking something’s wrong with her, he decides to hire live-in nurse Susan (Rhesa Putri) to help care for her only for the attacks to continue and intensify. At his wits’ end, he comes...

Blu-ray Review: The Seventh Sign
Spoilers ahead. The Seventh Sign is a very strange movie. The 1988 film starring Demi Moore, Michael Biehn, and Jurgen Prochnow has its fans, but I can't say that I'm one of them. Directed by Carl Schultz (The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles), the film follows the very young Abby Quinn (Moore), a pregnant woman and housewife who rents out part of her home to a mysterious and weird lodger, David (Prochnow). The acting is good, but the script... well, there's A Lot to unpack in The Seventh Sign. Abby's baby is due on February 29, a leap year, and the date turns up as a weird omen. She tries to tell her husband Russell (Biehn) about it, but like most sane people, he isn't having any...

Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, and Danielle Harris in The Victim (2011)
FEARnet Movie Review: 'The Victim'
Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, and Danielle Harris in The Victim (2011)
There's no denying that character actor Michael Biehn has earned a place in the Genre Movie Hall of Fame. From his early work with James Cameron (especially Aliens and The Abyss), he's been a reliable and enjoyable presence in action / horror / sci-fi flicks like The Seventh Sign, Tombstone, The Rock, and Planet Terror. Even when Mr. Biehn pops up in a terrible old cable flick, which happens pretty often, the man is still working hard and doing all he can to provide a strong performance. I say these polite but honest things now because I've just seen the man's writing/directing debut, and I'm sorry to say that The Victim is, well, it's pretty darn awful.

The Victim is about two scummy cops who try to have sex with two sleazy strippers in the forest, but one of the gals is accidentally killed, so the other one runs off and...

Big Genre Stars Headed Our Way in Michael Biehn’s, The Victim
f you can’t get enough genre staples crammed into a single film, I don’t blame you. The more the merrier (one of the reasons I can get into most of Rob Zombie’s work). Anchor Bay is about to treat those dedicated to the macabre to a wildly promising grindhouse flick written, directed and starring none other than super bad ass, Michael Biehn (you know, the dude who tears shit up in Terminator, Aliens, Planet Terror, Bereavement, The Abyss, The Seventh Sign… well, you get my drift), and believe me when I tell you, there are quite a few familiar faces to gaze upon in this little shocker!

Darren Lynn Bousman at an event for Abattoir (2016)
Movie Review: '11-11-11: The Prophecy'
Darren Lynn Bousman at an event for Abattoir (2016)
There's something almost quaint about the new occult thriller from Darren Lynn Bousman, and not just because it's a low-key departure for the guy who directed three Saw sequels, a Mother's Day remake, and one of the craziest cult musicals since Rocky Horror. At times the somewhat dry, somewhat comfortably familiar horror tale known as 11-11-11: The Prophecy feels like a late-era Hammer feature (admittedly not one of the best ones) and, more often, it starts to feel a lot like a mid-'80s religious thriller. The movie 11-11-11 reminds me of most is Carl Schultz's The Seventh Sign. Yep, that goofy yet well-remembered piece of church-related horror starring Demi Moore that hit screens in 1988, promptly vanished, and...

Win Tickets To See ‘Aliens’ and ‘The Divide’ With Michael Biehn In the Same Room!
If you have any taste in movies at all then you know that James Cameron’s Aliens is a kick-ass action/sci-fi movie that never gets old. You should also know that Michael Biehn, who played Cpl. Hicks in Aliens, has a resume filled with fun and memorable flicks. The Terminator, Timebomb, The Abyss, The Seventh Sign, K2, The Rock, Tombstone, and Planet Terror are just a few of his awesomely entertaining movies. Sure he also starred in Take Me Home Tonight, but a man’s gotta put food on the table. Well if you love the guy as much as you should then you’ll be excited to know he’s hosting a double feature at the Alamo Drafthouse on Saturday the 14th. That’s tomorrow! It’s also in Austin Texas, so if you’re not geographically located nearby you should probably stop reading now. (In fact, go ahead and read this instead.) And...

Exclusive Video Interview: Michael Biehn Talks The Divide, The Victim and More
For almost 30 years now actor Michael Biehn has been a beloved fixture within the world of genre films (and outside as well), and his performances in movies like The Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, The Seventh Sign, Tombstone, Jade, The Rock, Clockstoppers, Planet Terror and even last year's thriller Bereavement have only further cemented his status as an icon of modern cinema.

Biehn's latest work in Xavier Gens' explosive apocalyptic flick The Divide is another example of just how truly badass the actor is. He portrays Mickey, a grizzly-natured landlord who ends up playing reluctant host to several tenants in his building's basement after a nuclear bomb is released in New York City.

Dread Central recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Biehn about his performance as Mickey in The Divide wherein the actor discussed how the original character from the script was tossed out and he...

The Seventh Son - Sam Claflin and Alicia Vikander Lead the Pack
Lots of actors are vying for the lead roles in Warner Bros.' upcoming tale of exorcism, The Seventh Sign, and the studio that the Bunny built has finally put out an offer to two of them.

According to Variety Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. have decided to go with a pair of fresh faces for the two youthful leads, with Sam Claflin and Alicia Vikander (pictured right) now in negotiations for the roles of Tom and Alice.

The duo of Claflin (Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides) and Vikander were among the almost dozen of young thesps testing for the roles this week. The two emerged as favorites among several execs on Thursday. Jeff Bridges is in talks to take on the role of the Spook, and Julianne Moore is nearing a deal to play a witch in the movie.

Michael Biehn Career Assessment: Go With Him If You Want To Live
Subject: Michael Biehn, 53-year old American actor (turned writer and director)

Date of Assessment: March 2, 2011

Positive Buzzwords: Intensity, ability to speak wordless volumes, James Cameron

Negative Buzzwords: Lack of star power, James Cameron

The Case: Upon initial contemplation of this week's subject, the first question that springs to mind is this: What the hell ever happened to Michael Biehn? Such an involuntary reaction is based upon an assumption that Biehn's a relatively lost visage of the 1980s; but anyone who's been paying attention would realize that Biehn's been (for the most part) working steadily as an actor even though his big-time blockbuster roles have long since ceased to exist. Naturally, he came from humble beginnings by steadily landing a lot of television work, including both regular series (even an "ABC Afternoon Special") and made-for-tv movies before moving into feature films. Upon arrival within the celluloid realm, Biehn initially appeared to...

Demi Moore in La séptima profecía (1988)
Australian Flooding Could Be 3rd Sign of the Apocalypse, According to Film
Demi Moore in La séptima profecía (1988)
Yesterday, we got two omens of the apocalypse, which looked even more like omens of the apocalypse when taken in a cinematic context. Granted, movies are sometimes wrong about the future, but seriously, is the latest explanation that those 5,000 dead birds just ran into each other really more far-fetched than the explanation advanced by The Seventh Sign, in which birds falling from the sky is one of the signs of judgment day? Well, it doesn't stop there. You know those Australian floods? Yeah, there's an Oscar Nominated director who already told us exactly what those mean. Hint: It's bad news.

Dead Birds Falling From The Sky In Arkansas Remind Us Of These Five Movies In Which Birds Wreak Havoc
At almost the same time the Ball was dropping to ring in the New Year in New York's Times Square, something very different was dropping from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas: thousands of dead red-winged blackbirds, to be specific.

According to Time, reports of the plummeting birds were first received at 11:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and Beebe residents awoke to find the carcasses of more than 2,000 of the creatures strewn across their lawns, roads and rooftops -- all within a one-mile stretch of town. While the cause of death is pending autopsies that will be conducted today (January 3), reports of trauma to the birds' skulls suggest a weather-related anomaly, such as lightning or high-altitude hail.

In an unrelated incident, a tugboat operator reported finding some 20,000 dead drum fish along the Arkansas River on December 30. Though the cause of their death is likely disease, the bevy of animal...

Bad Girl
I've been bad and I'm quite behind on blogging. Supposed to be working on that "Best Shot" for this evening (La Dolce Vita) but I am a million hours behind and now the Academy has gone and finalized the Oscar Foreign Film list and the Documentary Short Finalist so there's that, too. Updating now so more on something or other in a couple of hours.

In the meantime this is a shot from Madonna's "Bad Girl" video which I've been obsessing over this week due to all The Social Network / David Fincher related posting. And I don't even like the song!  Discuss.

I promise I'm logging off of The Fincher Network now but isn't that shot heaven? Smoking kills but damn does it look good in movies/music videos. (See also: the complete works of Wong Kar Wai.) Incidentally the cinematographer on the Bad Girl video was Juan Ruiz Anchía,...

1950’s Sci-Fi Star Richard Devon Dies
Character actor Richard Devon was a familiar face in films and television from the early 1950s. He was often cast as desperados and gangsters in western and crime films. He was also noted for his roles in a handful of Roger Corman cult classics in the 1950s. Devon was featured as Satan in the supernatural tale of past lives, The Undead (1957), with Pamela Duncan and Allison Hayes. He was King Stark of the Grimolts in the campy The Saga of the Viking Women and Their Voyage to the Waters of the Great Sea Serpent (1957), with Abby Dalton and Susan Cabot, and was the alien possessed Dr. Pol Van Ponder in the sci-fi feature War of the Satellites (1958) with Cabot and Dick Miller.

Devon worked his way through drama school in Los Angeles, performing chores in lieu of paying tuition. He also worked in early local television, and played a recurring...

The return of religious films
Apocalyptic angels and satanic shadows are creeping back on to cinema screens. Don't be surprised, says Anne Billson – biblical themes have only ever been one global crisis away

There's been a distinct whiff of the Good Book at the cinema of late – literally so in the case of Denzel Washington's latest, The Book of Eli. "Dear Lord," he says, "thank you for giving me the strength and the conviction to complete the task you entrusted to me." Denzel is on a mission from God, and not in a Blues Brothers way; his task is to convey a leather-bound book with a cross on it from A to B while killing lots of evil people en route. You don't need to have seen the film to guess the book in question is not The Da Vinci Code.

Meanwhile, in Solomon Kane, James Purefoy says: "Satan's creatures will take me if...

Actresses talk Molly Hartley roles
Fango recently got a chance to speak with actresses Shana Collins and Shannon Woodward about their roles in the new teen fright flick The Haunting Of Molly Hartley, hitting screens today from Freestyle Releasing. Concerning itself with the titular cursed high-schooler, the film aims to pack some PG-13 chills, allowing young horror fans to get their celebratory scares in this Halloween. Collins and Woodward play friends of Molly’s with opposing spiritual viewpoints: The former is the devout Alexis (pictured with Haley Bennett as Molly) and the latter portrays the rebellious Leah.

Having arrived on the acting scene four years ago, Collins is already building a substantial fright résumé, with a bit part in Steven Spielberg’s War Of The Worlds and supporting roles in Raw Feed’s Sublime and the haunted-prison flick Death Row.
