- The DVD released by "Banzai" is very heavily cut, with numerous scenes sadistic/sexual violence removed.
- The film's UK home video release was cut by nearly four minutes. Any shots in which throwing stars and nunchaku are used were removed, as well as several scenes of bloody violence and Aiko's rape scene.
- The German Blu-ray released by Koch Films contains the European Unrated cut with a run time of 98 minutes.
- Originally rated "X" by the MPAA in the U.S. Major cuts to almost every violent scene had to be made to be re-rated "R". This version was exported to most countries with some exceptions like France and Greece. The uncut version would be released for the first time officially in the U.S by Arrow video on Blu-ray.
- To get a "not under 18" rating while also trying not to get indexed (though it still got indexed anyway), the German version was cut by a minute and 20 seconds to reduce graphic violence in some scenes. Only in 2021 was this film deleted from the BPjM index list and shortly afterwards the uncensored version was granted a "not under 18" rating.
- The cinema version of this movie was banned in Norway but the first video release was uncut. After a while the uncut videoversion was banned too and later videoversions are cut.
