Auteur! Auteur! Four of this year’s Best Director Oscar nominees — Chloe Zhao (“Nomadland”), Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”), Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”) and Thomas Vinterberg (“Another Round”) — have a writing credit on their films. Zhao, Fennell and Chung reaped bids for their scripting efforts.
Over the past decade, the majority of the Oscar-winning directors were also nominated for their screenplays. Last year, Boon Joon-Ho won Best Director and shared in the Original Screenplay award with Han Jan for their work on the Best Picture champ “Parasite.”
Though writer/directors getting Oscar love is the norm these days, that wasn’t always the case. When nominations were announced for the first Academy Awards, Charlie Chaplin was cited for both Best Actor and Comedy Direction for his 1928 masterpiece “The Circus,” which he also wrote and produced. But the academy decided to withdraw his name from the competitive classes and decided “that...

Summer Camp (2015)
Written by: Alberto Marini
Directed by: Alberto Marini
Cast: Diego Bonita (Will), Jocelin Donahue (Christy), Maiara Walsh (Michelle), Andrés Velencoso (Antonio)
Summer Camp can mean a lot of things. I never went because I was always afraid that the reality would forever soil my idyllic idea of camp from “Meatballs”, the Michael J. Fox TV movie “Poison Ivy”, and “Ernest Goes to Camp”, and also because I was chubby, introverted, and awkward.
Thank goodness for adulthood, at least the chubby part got a little better. Of course, I also had Friday the 13th to go by as well. It took a few installments before Jason started going after the kids, usually it was the counselors that got the business end of the machete.
At “Summer Camp”, these counselors are Americans who signed up to teach English to campers in Spain. No cabins here.

While I'm sure The Dark Knight Rises will not be a disappointment in the slightest sense, it is sad to know some of the more notable events in Knightfall and Knightquest will not be chronicled as they were in the comics.
While nothing so far has been confirmed about the condition of Batman throughout the film, I believe it is safe to say from the poster and comments from Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy that our hero will be taking a brief siesta mid-film courtesy of an epic ass beating by Bane.
Home to nine crime families, twelve gangs, and hundreds of deranged miscellaneous supervillains, Gotham would cease to be a successful city without the watchful eye of The Batman. This is a fact Bruce Wayne acknowledged long before Bane broke his back and left him immobile for many months in the comics. Who could be great enough to take...
