A childhood favorite

Warning: Spoilers
A Chinese romance fantasy with poor CGI & graphics.

This film & acting comes off like they are in a play. The stiff, dramatic acting.

It gives off those vibes similarly to those Egyptian films that were made in the 1950's.

Even though the graphics were pretty corny and bad, when I was a kid, I thought it was such an aesthetically pleasing film, so I think about this film often.

For the storyline, it is about a prince who immediately "falls in love" with a magical princess and immediately marries.

She was not accepted by his family because they were being brainwashed by some problematic evil wizard. So the prince's family wanted her dead while the prince was away at war. So she magically flies away when they try to burn her alive.

The prince returns very upset realizing what had happened and travels very far for days to get her to come back.

The male and female lead are so beautiful + I love how cheerfully happy they were, portraying such kindness and innocence in their characters.

Unique in Chinese movie industry

This movie is should be classified in the category of Fantasy/Family.

This movie is unique in Chinese film industry in that it is based on the ethnic minorities' folk legend that circulates in the southwestern part of China. Most other Chinese films of similar type is based on the folk legend of Han. Wish that more movies of this type will appear in exploring the rich cultural heritage of ethnic minorities in China.
