Baldur’s Gate 3 was a title that set the standard for immersive RPGs for the gaming industry with its release in 2023. Baldur’s Gate 3 has won numerous awards at various ceremonies, including the GotY award. It suffices to say that it did wonders for the RPG genre and its developer, Larian Studios.
Hasbro, the company known to make toys, also benefited from the game’s launch due to a deal between Larian and the former’s subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast, known for publishing Dungeons and Dragons. One of the biggest names in the toy market is looking to expand its horizons and bet on the gaming industry’s bright future.

Even in the face of exciting and thrilling superhero games, Batman: Arkham trilogy games are still considered to be one of the greatest. The primary reason for the trilogy’s popularity goes to the exceptional gameplay mechanics, immersive storytelling, and faithful adaptation of the comics, captivating both casual gamers and the ardent Dark Knight fans.
Batman in the Batman: Arkham Trilogy
With a superior combat system neatly integrated with innovative stealth gameplay, the game features some of the most iconic locations and a plethora of gadgets to take down the thugs and the supervillains. However, the trilogy also features a rich narrative that focuses on every minute detail. Needless to say, gamers enjoyed every minute of playing the trilogy.
It looks like a Snake Eyes game from the G.I. Joe franchise is in the works and it is heavily inspired by the Batman Arkham games.

Brendan Fraser is easily one of the greatest actors in the adventure genre. His battle against the dead in “The Mummy” series needs no introduction. The actor has had a well-documented Hollywood comeback in recent years. After a period of personal and professional setbacks, he has returned to the spotlight with critically acclaimed movies like”The Whale”.
Brendan Fraser in the Mummy
Fraser’s career has been a testament to his versatility, but there was a time when his passion for a particular role burned so brightly, that it led him to make an offer that was both hilarious and undeniably endearing.

English actor Christopher Eccleston has been a popular name in TV, movies, and stage alike. From playing the 9th incarnation of The Doctor in Doctor Who to playing both Hamlet as well as Macbeth on the stage, Eccleston’s artistry is admirable.
Christopher Eccleston in Doctor Who
Eccleston, though he usually prefers to avoid big budget productions, was part of two pretty big franchises in his career. One was the 2009 movie, G. I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, and the other was the MCU’s Thor: The Dark World in 2011. Unfortunately, the actor hated being a part of both these films.
Christopher Eccleston Regretted Being in Thor 2
Christopher Eccleston played the main antagonist, Malekith, in Thor: The Dark World. The movie in itself was one of Marvel’s least liked productions. And the character of Malekith was one of the most underdeveloped, with almost no background story to give it more depth.

Sony is the latest player that would like to make an accusation. The studio has won the rights to develop a reimagining of the Hasbro board game “Clue,” and the studio intends to bring the murder mystery game to the screen for both film and television.
Hollywood has been trying to remake “Clue,” first adapted in Jonathan Lynn’s cult classic screwball comedy “Clue” from 1985, for years. Most recently, a project was set up at 20th Century Studios, and it had Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman circling to star along with “The Muppets Movie” filmmaker James Bobin directing. In 2022, Oren Uziel (“The Lost City”) stepped up to rewrite the original draft of the script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”), but it too went nowhere.

An indie action game akin to Max Payne, El Paso, Elsewhere is to become a film, with Lakeith Stanfield in talks to star.
Developed by indie studio Strange Scaffold – headed up by designer Xalavier Nelson Jr – third-person action videogame El Paso, Elsewhere was released to glowing reviews in 2023. Less than a year later, the Max Payne-esque shooter is to be adapted into a movie, it’s been announced.
Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has picked up the rights to the game though his company – the logically-named Di Bonaventura Pictures – meaning it’ll share a figurative stable with such properties as Transformers and GI Joe.
According to Variety, Lakeith Stanfield – whose latest film, the irreverent comedy The Book Of Clarence, is in UK cinemas now – is to star in the adaptation.
El Paso, Elsewhere is about a vampire hunter named James Savage, whose ex-girlfriend – named Draculae – is rather awkwardly a vampire herself.

1954's "The Creature From The Black Lagoon" was the last gasp of Universal Pictures' black-and-white horror heyday. Pivoting away from literary adaptations towards something more resembling contemporary man-in-suit monster movies, "Black Lagoon" introduced one last staple of the Universal Monster line-up: The Gill-man. A missing link in the evolutionary chain, the amphibian man has the same mix of terror and lovelorn pathos as his monstrous brethren.
It's not quite the pop-culture staple that "Dracula" and "Frankenstein" are, but "The Creature From The Black Lagoon" has been reimagined many times (most famously in 2017 with Guillermo del Toro's Best Picture-winning oddball romance "The Shape of Water" — it was almost black-and-white like "Black Lagoon" too). Now a new comic book starring the Gill-Man comes forth from Skybound Entertainment, boasting a title that belongs to a forgotten Universal Horror picture: "The Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives!"
Skybound isn't just revitalizing "The Transformers" and "G.I. Joe.

Paramount has released the first trailer for upcoming animated movie Transformers One. It sent it into space, too.
Well, here’s a first. The trailer for Transformers One has arrived, although quite where it has arrived, nobody really knows. That’s because the livestream for the film’s promo was beamed into space. While it certainly makes for a cool-sounding marketing blitz, we’re hoping that it doesn’t spark a Galaxy Quest-style scenario where aliens turn up on Earth’s doorstep, hoping to find a bunch of animated robots to join their Star War.
Compared to transforming robots, discovering billions of squishy humans instead might be a crushing disappointment and would inexorably lead to our enslavement at the hands of our new galactic overlords.
We’re sure it won’t come to that and even if it does, at least we have a shiny trailer to enjoy ahead...

Forget trailer debuts during football game halftimes or shown through “Fortnite,” the next frontier of debuting movie trailers is watching it on a screen that happens to be orbiting the Earth.

The fans are highly anticipated for the Transformers-G.I. Joe crossover after it was teased at the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. The crossover between the two renowned franchises based on Hasbro’s popular toy lines has been on the charts for a long time. However, Paramount’s planning for the crossover can be controversial among the ardent fans of both franchises.

According to the comments by the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the upcoming crossover project may be a multiversal feature. Two of Hasbro’s most popular toy lines are set to be combined onscreen as the Transformers and GI Joe franchises are all set for a crossover movie.
A movie crossover between Transformers and GI Joe has been on the table for a long, long time. We first heard it mooted all the way back in 2016 when Hasbro pulled together a writers’ room to hash out a cinematic future for its action-centric toy lines.
In the years since, both franchises have faced waning interest so to Hasbro and Paramount, it looks like sticking them together to try and reinvigorate interest in both properties seems like as good an idea as any other.
In fairness, the comic book histories of both Transformers and GI Joe have a rich history of crossover stories. There was one in the 1980s that fans really enjoyed, while one more recent tale that transplanted the robot...

Paramount Pictures teased the project in last year’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and now it’s official! Chris Hemsworth, the voice of a young Optimus Prime, and Brian Tyree Henry, the voice of a young Megatron, got an enthusiastic welcome at CinemaCon as they introduced a first look and 3D scene from “Transformers One,” Paramount’s animated origin story based on the Hasbro toys. “This origin story is how they transformed from brothers in arms to sworn enemies,” said Henry from Las Vegas on Thursday.
In the clip, Optimus Prime, Megatron and their friends “proven worthy” are given their powers to transform — and awkwardly get accustomed to using those powers. Cue the Linkin Park song and get ready to roll out, because the Autobots are back, and this time they're bringing friends. The prophecy is finally fulfilled, and we are getting the much-promised Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover teased in the final moments of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts."
The news was formally unveiled during Paramount Pictures' presentation at CinemaCon 2024, where /Film's own Ryan Scott witnessed the announcement of the union between the two titanic franchises.
This was, if nothing else, anticipated by fans. "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" helmer Steven Caple, Jr., who previously promised the next chapter in the franchise would bring the Maximals, Autobots, and Joes together, is expected to return to the director's chair, although there's no news yet about which (if any) human cast members will also be back. Is "Rise of the Beasts" lead Anthony Ramos going to be the new Sam Witwicky and...

Batman: The Animated Series was a truly one-of-a-kind show that received worldwide love and fame. The series writer Henry Gilroy was praised for his writing skills that helped create the 2-D version of Batman into a full-fledged character with depth and intensity.
At that time, the U.S. military was not looking good because of what happened in the Middle East. Wanting to change public opinion, Henry Gilroy helped develop a U.S. military-centric series that went on to become quite a fantastic take on the franchise of G.I. Joe.

With enough prep time, Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman is able to withstand any enemy and has the capacity to defeat them. Despite having no superpowers, the caped crusader can stand on his own due to his scientific knowledge and athleticism. He is also considered to be one of the greatest detectives and is a polymath.
Batman has also been trained in multiple martial arts, including ones devised by alien planets. The superhero has also been trained in a deadly art of Klurkor, that originated in Superman’s Krypton. The martial art is reportedly similar to Karate.

Despite “Barbie’s” recent box office domination, the history of toy-to-film franchises has not always been easy. Often dismissed as a cash grab (“Battleship”) or popcorn fare, turning toys into critically and commercially successful content is no skate in the park.
For Mattel and co, there was another toy that had to walk before “Barbie” could fly: Lego. Written and directed by Lord and Miller, “The Lego Movie” proved that movies based on toys could be so much more than a 90-minute commercial when it was released ten years ago. Although snubbed at the Oscars (not even garnering a nomination for best animated film), the Warner Bros. pic — like its eventual successor “Barbie” — was a hit with both audiences and critics.
Buoyed by “The Lego Movie’s” success, a string of spin-offs and sequels quickly followed – “The Lego Batman Movie” and “The Lego Ninjago Movie” in 2017 and “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part...

After 2007’s Transformers became a huge box office hit, Hasbro would pull from another of their popular properties that also had a place in pop culture with an 80s cartoon — G.I. Joe. However, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra would not do the kind of numbers that Transformers had brought in, and the style was surprisingly geared more towards the Michael Bay film with some sci-fi twists rather than a more straight-forward military combat movie with colorfully eccentric characters. The sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, would offer more of what many would come to expect from the property and had actually become more successful commercially (mostly thanks to Dwayne Johnson‘s star power).

Lionsgate Television just eliminated more than half of its development deals, IndieWire has confirmed. The reduction comes after Lionsgate’s $375 million acquisition of eOne from Hasbro. The eOne purchase, which on the television side brought over “Yellowjackets” and other series, mixed with general industry contraction in the post-Peak TV era, rationalized the sweeping cuts.
Lionsgate executives conducted a two-months-long review of the Lionsgate Television and eOne talent rosters, which together included nearly 60 overall and first-look deals. The number is now below 30; no names have been reported on either the “stay” or “go” side of the ledger.
Deadline first reported the news. A Lionsgate rep declined comment on this story.
It is pretty common for a company to slim down ahead of acquisition — just ask Paramount — but this round was pretty drastic. It is important to remember that during last year’s writers strikes, pretty much all overall deals were put on pause.

Carl Weathers passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 1, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on our pop culture. Weathers, who most recently joined the Star Wars galaxy as both a talented director and as the charismatic magistrate Greef Karga, is a legend whose years as a performer on both the big and small screens are worthy of celebration.
Weathers originally made his name in college football, but when his NFL career didn’t pan out, he moved into acting. His linebacker physique made him perfect to play heavyweight champion of the world Apollo Creed in the first Rocky film, and his pop culture immortality was assured. You’ll find him in several iconic ’80s movies, including in one of our genre favorites, Predator.
If you’re interested in seeking out the actor’s work beyond Rocky, Predator, and Star Wars, here are our picks for the best of Carl Weathers in movies and TV.

One of South Korea’s biggest hits of last year is set to hit stateside. Concrete Utopia is a film that gained acclaim and was a massive hit at the Korean box office in 2023 with an earning of $28.0 million from 3.85 million admissions when the film opened on August 9 of last year. The film was also a Korean Oscar contender. Variety’s review of the film stated, “[Concrete Utopia] places its characters in a desperate, scary, do-or-die situation and then refuses to tell the audience what to think about them. It’s a fractious, blood-soaked drama about the will to survive that feels like Earthquake crossed with Lord of the Flies.”
Variety is now reporting that Concrete Utopia has secured a U.S. streaming release on a platform called Rakuten Viki, a service that specializes in Asian content. The streaming platform has licensed exclusive rights to the film in the U.

Awards season is set to culminate with the 2024 Academy Awards. The nominees were announced earlier this morning, and you can view the full list Here. There were a lot of favorites that many saw as a shoo-in for nominations. Oppenheimer was a heavy favorite to get recognized as the film would collect nominations for Christopher Nolan, Emily Blunt, and Cillian Murphy, and the film itself is now up for the big Best Picture award. With Killers of the Flower Moon receiving much-talked-about hype before the film came out as well as the non-stop praise after its release, it would seem Martin Scorsese would be an obvious nomination for Best Director, and the legendary filmmaker would indeed get the nod as he receives his tenth nomination and surpasses Steven Spielberg’s record.

Japanese production company and "Godzilla" creator Toho typically makes two types of films about the King of the Monsters. There are the ones where the G-man functions as a metaphor for the horrors of the atomic bombing of Japan and the lingering scars of war (like in "Godzilla Minus One"). Then there are the movies where Godzilla is a glorified bouncer whose job is to slap around any trouble-making kaiju that gets it into their head to wreak havoc on humanity.
Director Gareth Edward's 2014 U.S. "Godzilla" was different in that sense, presenting Godzilla as a misunderstood force of nature while also portraying him and other giant creatures as an allegory for climate change. The next two entries in what's now known as the MonsterVerse, "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," followed suit before culminating with the monster jam that was director Adam Wingard's "Godzilla vs. Kong.

Lionsgate said today its acquisition of global entertainment platform eOne from Hasbro is done.
The transaction announced last August adds 6,500 film and television titles to Lionsgate’s large library; diversifies and strengthens its scripted and unscripted television businesses; extends its portfolio of brands and franchises; and expands its presence in Canada and the UK.
The deal is for $375 million in cash plus the assumption of some production financing loans.
EOne produces ABC hit franchise The Rookie, critically-acclaimed Showtime series Yellowjackets, and the long-running Discovery unscripted series Naked & Afraid. The library has 1917, Atomic Blonde, Green Book, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Renegade and Designated Survivor.
The transaction also includes film development rights to Hasbro’s Monopoly brand. Lionsgate knows that property well and had specifically carved out the film development rights as part of the overall deal. Hasbro introduced the world to G.I. Joe as a series of action figures in the '60s. Originally as 12-inch figures, the line was successful for the toy company. But when the line was relaunched in the early '80s as smaller-scale figures complete with accessories, such as vehicles and playsets, the whole enterprise really took off. It led to a series of Marvel Comics adaptations, animated shows, and yes, big-budget feature films.

Sad news for fans of Warrior, as the action-packed Max series has been canceled after three seasons.

The first two seasons of Warrior aired on Cinemax, but when the series was renewed for a third season, it was announced that it would move to Max.
While Warrior will continue to stream on Max for the time being, it will have an additional home next year. Netflix picked up the non-exclusive rights to all three seasons of Warrior, with the series expected to debut in February 2024. Deadline reports that if the series does well, Netflix could potentially revive it. However, the cast has been released from their contracts,...

It’s official: Paramount+ is finally available to consumers in Japan. As first tipped by the company in September, the streaming service launched in Japan Wednesday as a no-additional-cost addition to the on-demand services of local operators J:com and Wowow. J:com is one of Japan’s top cable television operators and broadband internet providers, while Wowow is the longstanding leading premium pay channel in the market.
The Japan launch completes Paramount+’s entry into all of the world’s top ten international subscription video growth markets. The partnership marks the second launch for Paramount+ in East Asia, following a similar arrangement set up last year in South Korea with TVing, the streaming service controlled by Korean entertainment giant Cj Enm. Parmount+ also launched in Australia via a partnership in August 2021. In Europe, the service is available through partnerships with Sky in Italy, the U.K., and Germany, and with Canal+ in France.
