Sex & Nudity

  • The teacher says "who created reproduction without sex." A student says "your wife?"
  • Someone kisses someone on the cheek, then later on the lips.
  • In typical macho fashion a security guard sexually harasses a pretty secretary.
  • Quick mention of sex in biology class talking about plants and asexual reproduction, followed by a student making a joke regarding the teacher's sex life.

Violence & Gore

  • A boy and a girl are briefly chased by a helicopter. No one is injured or harmed.
  • A boy gets arrested.
  • The film portrays the pervasive threat of imminent nuclear weapon strikes.
  • One soldier draws his gun at another, but no shots are fired.

Profanity

  • Many uses of "Jesus", "Jesus Christ", "for Gods sake" etc.
  • Mildly frequent "shit" and derivatives. Several "hells," "damns," "god-damns," "assholes" and a "piss," and one use of prick.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • No illegal drugs. There are scenes with cigar and cigarette smoking and one character frequently chews tobacco.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Scenes involving several characters' existential dread over impending full scale nuclear armageddon may be intense for some viewers.
  • Mild scenes of fugitive teenage characters being pursued by soldiers and police.
  • Characters face a possible end-of-the-world scenario. Suspenseful montage may be intense for some.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The opening scene shows two Air-Force men being ordered to launch the nuclear missiles in their silo. It turns out just to be an exercise to test their psychological resolve. However, the scene is still fairly intense.
