For William Devane admirers only ..... others beware ...

This made for TV movie from 1983 really can be divided into three separate parts. The first half could be very useful if someone you know develops amnesia, since it plays more like a medical seminar than a serial killer film. The second half is slightly better due mainly to an unexpected twist, but you still get the usual incompetent police work, lack of character development, and an unbelievably clichéd finale. This is not one of William Devane's best, as most of the time he has little to do. The numerous flashbacks and grating music are another problem. Not recommended, except if you must see every William Devane film. - MERK

Nothing exceptional here...

This is a decent (if unexceptional) made-for-TV thriller, with better-than-expected production values and fair performances from William Devane (a familiar figure that will remind you of Gary Busey) and Eva Mari Saint, who is always nice to see, even if she is given nothing to do. However, most of the plot elements are just too cliched, and the leading lady whines too much.
