This was the first movie that actor Dan Aykroyd made after his comedic buddy John Belushi (Jake Blues of "The Blues Brothers") had passed away, just three months before principal photography began.
Dan Aykroyd married Donna Dixon after working with her on this project. They would also both appear later in "Spies Like Us (1985)" and "The Couch Trip (1988)."
Fran Drescher has said in her autobiography "Enter Whining" that the movie was expected to be a box-office hit, but it wasn't, by the time the film finished its run it had only made US $ 10.8 million from its budget outlay of US $ 8 million.
The Illinois license plate on Dan Aykroyd's car is BDR-529; this is the same plate that was on the Bluesmobile in "The Blues Brothers (1980)."
