An interesting and original premise completely squandered by the ending result

Because the meshing of fantasy and mecha genre never takes off for real, you always have the feeling that the two things are thrown into another one for no reason other than someone dictated it (which is what happened). The fantasy setting is never truly explored, being limited to some tinkerbells and a bunch of monsters that attack the main heroes, and the story (interesting in the first 20 or so episodes) eventually completely demolishes that because by the end the series has 100% turned into pure sci-fi. The characters are not very memorable either. The mecha design, on the other hand, is cool. Definitely not the best series by Yoshiyuki Tomino and DEFINITELY not en par with Gundam 0079, even if the themes (concerning problems of communication between people) are commendable.

Decent story that nosedives after 16 episodes.

While this is older and the animation is dated, its fairly unique in the mecha genre. I just lost interest after 16 or so episodes. Gets quite ridiculous.
