Kenny Chesney‘s new album “Here and Now” debuted at number-one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, edging out Drake‘s new mixtape “Dark Lane Demo Tapes.” It’s Chesney’s 19th studio album and his 9th to top the chart. But perhaps surprisingly the country veteran has never won a Grammy. Could this album finally change that?
SEE2021 Grammy contenders: These are top artists and albums that may get their due next year
“Here and Now” isn’t just number-one, it’s the biggest country debut in almost two years. It racked up 233,000 album units, which are calculated by combining traditional album sales with individual track sales and online streams. As with most country albums, the vast majority of Chesney’s total came from traditional album sales. And those sales were largely driven by Chesney bundling his album with concert ticket sales for his upcoming tour, which is how many...

Moved from a planned awards-season contending fall reason to this spring, it's likely that the lukewarm reviews for "I Saw The Light" compelled Sony Pictures Classics to change their game plan. Tinseltown took over Music City this past weekend, with the glitzy premiere of the highly anticipated Hank Williams biopic, I Saw the Light. Stars of the big-screen adaptation of the book, Hank Williams: The Biography by Colin Escott, George Merritt and William Macewen, walked the red carpet (which, for the record, was actually green), as invited guests filled the twin theaters at Nashville's historic Belcourt theater. British actor Tom Hiddleston turns in a career-defining role as the troubled singer-songwriter, whose influence is seen not only in nearly every country artist who came after him,...

Elizabeth Olsen has joined the cast of RatPac Entertainment and Bron Studios’ I Saw The Light, the film about the life of country western singer Hank Williams. Deadline’s Mike Fleming broke the news this summer that Tom Hiddleston nabbed the Williams role and will be singing classics like “Your Cheatin’ Heart”, “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and “Hey Good Lookin'”. Olsen will play Williams’ wife Audrey Mae. Marc Abraham is directing from his own script about Williams’ meteoric rise to fame, and the price that fame took on his personal life. He died at age 29 of heart failure.
Pic is based on the biography by Colin Escott and is produced by RatPac’s Brett Ratner and Bron Studios’ Aaron L. Gilbert, along with G. Marq Roswell and Abraham. James Packer will executive produce for RatPac Entertainment. I Saw The Light is also a Creative Wealth Media Finance co-production.

As Loki, the handsome villain everyone loved to hate in The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston stole his way into millions of hearts. He was sly, cunning and debonair, yet he also manifested a nasty mean streak that went way beyond pranking his adopted brother Thor. He got a chance to redeem himself in Thor: The Dark World last year, although it's safe to say that Hiddleston is still most identified in the public eye as someone who cannot be trusted. But can he sing? Hiddleston has signed up to star in the upcoming biopic I Saw the Light as country-music legend Hank Williams, according to Screen Daily. The production has secured rights to the official catalog, and Hiddleston will be doing his own singing, which means we might be hearing Loki singing "Hey Good Lookin'" and...

Fans of crazy adult animation rejoice, because Junk Food Dinner Episode #43 is finally here! This week we explore the seedy, gritty, surreal animated world of artist/director Ralph Bakshi.
First, we take a look at his 1973 semi-autobiographical tale of a young virgin cartoonist who draws inspiration from his inner-city surroundings and the wacky characters who inhabit it in 1973's groundbreaking Heavy Traffic. Then Bakshi focuses his lens on race relations and the black experience in America when we take a look at the controversial satire Coonskin from 1975. And finally two young men come of age against a backdrop of gang violence in 1950's Brooklyn in Hey Good Lookin' from 1982.
Also, we have Nerds News, this week's DVD and Blu-Ray releases and much more!

The early '80s were an interesting time for controversial artist and animator Ralph Bakshi. His 1970s were filled with incendiary offerings like Heavy Traffic, Coonskin, Wizards, Fritz the Cat, and his (truncated) adaptation of Lord of the Rings. But once the 1980s rolled around, Mr. Bakshi was a little more sedate -- and absolutely intent on furthering the art of feature-length animation. The often misunderstood Bakshi would turn out Hey Good Lookin' in 1982 and collaborate with the legendary Frank Frazetta on 1983's Fire and Ice ... but I say the filmmaker's best work was his follow-up to the Lord of the Rings misstep...
