Great Crude Film
thechudbaby20 February 2003
Fans of woody allens "Whats Up Tiger Lily" may enjoy this more crude variation of a similar idea. The film is horrible and the dubbing is very immature but if thats your cup of tea then its a fantastic film. Best Viewed in large groups.

Terribly unfunny

Warning: Spoilers
FEROCIOUS FEMALE FREEDOM FIGHTERS is an example of what happens when a company like Troma get their hands on an Indonesian action flick starring Barry Prima. Taking a cue from Woody Harrelson's WHAT'S UP TIGER LILLY?, this simply removes the original dialogue track and replaces it with dubbed-in English voices. Said voices don't follow the original storyline of the film but instead turn things into an absurdist comedy, with constant one-liners and attempts at zany humour. I found it terrible, and offensive to boot, although I wouldn't mind watching the original movie.

Troma scrape the bottom of the barrel yet again.
BA_Harrison17 September 2017
Female wrestler Bambi (Eva Arnaz) wants to give up the sport but must continue to fight in order to raise enough cash for her younger brother's corrective surgery (when he gets aroused his sperm goes to his brain). Barry Prima also stars as a fighter, Barney, who befriends Bambi and helps her to defeat some bad guys.

Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters is an Indonesian action flick (original title: Perempuan Bergairah AKA The Fighters), re-dubbed in English by those wags at Troma, who alter the story-line slightly and make the characters say the most asinine things in really dumb voices. With extremely puerile humour, childish sound effects (including burps and farts), and gags about bodily functions, the whole mess becomes tiresome very quickly.

Really bad, even by Troma standards, I'd have preferred to have seen the film as it was originally intended: it couldn't be any worse.

All stars for original movie
BandSAboutMovies29 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Bambi (Eva Arnez) is a female karate fighter and pro wrestler who no longer loves combat. Barney (Barry Prima) is a martial artist who helps her find the eye of the tiger again. That's needed because she needs to raise money for an operation to save the life of her brother.

Or maybe not, because 1982's Jopi Burnama-directed Perempuan Bergairah (Passionate Woman) was remixed by Troma's Charles Kaufman. If your idea of the height of humor is repeated bathroom jokes, you'll love this. I must admit that I did laugh when a woman yelled when Bambi wins a fight, "Come see me tonight, I have a vibrator!" and Bambi replies,"Mine has all five speeds!"

Now for the real description of the original from IMDB: "Renny Basuki (Eva Arnaz) is a young woman and a former judo champion who, after her father's demise, tries to look after her impoverished family. When her younger brother is diagnosed with a deadly disease, she is desperate to afford his surgery costs. One day, Indra (Prima), a professional wrestling manager, offers Renny and her friend Mia (Diana Suarkom) a place in his female wrestling troupe. They agree but Renny's mother disapproves her wrestling career."

As much as I love how much pro wrestling this has, not to mention a snake in the bath scene that shot for shot rips off A Nightmare On Elm Street plus a man's face being erased by acid and someone else getting blown up with explosive throwing stars and then brass knuckles being used to punch someone's eyeball out of their head, I am not a fan of Barry Prime being made into Elvis.

Then again, because of this movie, I hunted down the original.

Troma also made Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters Part 2 from another movie with Arnaz in it, Barang Terlarang (Violent Killer).

In the spirit of "What's Up, Tiger Lily?", but Troma-style
The Divine Bovine26 October 2000
The demented and hilarious re-working of what appears to be originally a dreary Filipino wrestling movie/crime drama, the Troma team does what Woody Allen did in "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" but with less restraint. The humor ranges from mildly absurd to outright raunchy, but it made me and a roommate laugh until we had to stop the tape. Not for everyone, but those who enjoy "Mystery Science 3000" and similar entertainment should find this right up their alley.

Way smarter writing than I expected
british15006 January 2019
Two women are wrestling, each pronouncing "Uganda" differently, and arguing over it. This is like watching a Rifftrax or MST3K episode with the original dialog completely removed.

Being a Troma film, I had little to no expectations on this. But this time, none of the filming was done by them. So no sped-up Benny Hill-style footage, a bunch of people piling into an apartment and having a party, just an Indonesian action film.

This film pleasantly surprised me. The comedy writing is REALLY sharply written, reminding me all too many of the jokes of MST3K or Rifftrax. "Surf Nazis Must Die" was mentioned, so the original film was in 1982, but this was re-dubbed after 1987.

The audible magic doesn't end there. In one scene, a woman is walking around in an office, but with added sloshing sounds to give the illusion that there's standing water. Electromechanical pinball sounds are playing for no reason during a match.

Just watch it. It's a pleasant surprise from Troma.

Charles Kaufman, Film maker.
Captain_Couth2 August 2005
Ferocious Female Freedom Fighters (1982) was a project that Charles Kaufman and the L.A. Connection worked on. Troma bought the rights to a real bad Indonesian action film (shot in Panavision) and re-dubbed it. They made a terrible movie watchable, but it's filled with very juvenile and dated material. But that doesn't mean it's not watchable.

The plot is (F.F.F.F) is about a female wrestler (Bambi)who's sick brother needs an emergency operation. To get the money fast, she signs up with a shady wrestling organization (even though she was courted by a rival promoter). During her training she meets Barney (a man who talks and fights like Elvis) and tries to woo her throughout the movie. Like I said, the movie's humor is very juvenile and adult but if you're into Troma films then you'll dig this one big time. What will happen to Bambi? Will her little brother get that operation? Can Barney sweep her off of her feet? You'll have to find out for yourself!

Highly recommended.

it will make your sides hurt

Well, I had thought I had seen it all until I saw 4F. Basically what must have happened is a bunch of guys got real drunk one night and were adlibbing to some crappy asian wrestling movie they were watching on the international channel. Someone decided to record it, and hence you get this movie. Some of the lines in this mockfest will make you laugh to the point of tears. The movie features a butt kickin martial arts master who talks like King Elvis Presley, and who can only count to three. He takes on such titanic forces such as the "big ugly guys", and who can forget the ebonically adept snake n the bath tub....."you been wipin your *ss with that dirty *ss rag". This movie isn't even to be explained, just rent it and I guarantee you won't regret it.

I'm Watching This Movie Right Now!
dlmartin19532 August 2005
And I'm thinking of MST3K and Joe-Bob Briggs. How they would love this movie! Yes, it's really, REALLY bad. I think even Joe-Bob would NOT put this movie on his top 10 list. But, somehow, it grabs you.

If you like a lot of moaning, groaning, grunting, screaming, squealing, shrieking women, then you'll love this movie. It appears to be a lame attempt at soft-core porn, without the flesh.

Like female wrestling? You'll love this movie.

Like proto-Bruce Lee martial arts? You'll love this movie.

Like trying to lip-read the actors' lines? You'll love this movie.

The only thing missing is Adrienne Barbeau (sp?)

I'd recommend being in a "certain state of mind" before watching this flick. But, if you do, I guarantee that you'll have a night to remember!

It's like Woody Allen's "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" without the cachet of Woody Allen!

I give it a 10 simply for its awfulness, and yet...sooooo hypnotic....

Hilarious movie
cofemug17 September 1999
Rent this one right now. I liked this movie, but because it was so bad on all accounts. It was a movie, filmed in english, then redubbed by the Troma Team. That should give you a hint of what it is like. It has a mother saying, "She can't s**t. I made her hot coffee because she can't s**t. Now she will have constipation and a headache." Something like tha. I was laughing so hard. Also, they redub the boy's need for surgery because whenever he is aroused the semen goes to his head, and it will explode. The sister says, "I want to give you a big french kiss, but i can't because it will arouse you and your head will explode." It is extremely funny. It is kind of shocking, extremely funny, and bizarre. Not for the totally normal. Of course, if you are reading this you know about the bizarre, and are not completely normal yourself. Personally i think it is better to watch this in two parts because it gets tiresome after a while, much like i thought MST3K did. I would get bored with both. But, the next day it is funny again. 8/10

If you like Mystery Science Theater, then check this out!

In the vein of mocking bad movies, there isn't much to choose from. But this Troma send up of bad Asian wrestling movies is hilarious. Quotable and fun, this is a great film to watch with friends. Be warned, however: this is not a movie to watch for quality cinema. It is a film to watch for pure laughs.
