In 1974, four children: Wendy Richards, Nick McBride, Kelly Lynch, and Jude Cunningham, caused the death of their classmate Robin Hammond when their bullying caused her to fall out the window. The death was blamed on a local sex offender. Six years later, it's the night of the prom, and it'll be a night to remember, thanks to the appearance of a masked figure intent on murdering those who killed Robin.

Wendy is in the bathroom, fixing her make-up after having a mild fight with her prom date, Lou. Her mascara begins to run out and she asks an unknown person who enters, to see if she can borrow some off them. There is no reply so she asks again. There is still no reply. She gives up on the mascara and proceeds to put lipstick on. After she finishes that and looks at herself, a gloved hand turns off the bathroom light.

Wendy asks what the unknown person is doing and thinks this might be Lou. She turns around and screams as the killer swipes his axe into the counter in front of her. As Wendy runs into the hallway, the killer pulls his axe from the counter.

Wendy shouts for help and the killer comes out of another door in front of her, blocking her from the auditorium. She runs backwards and tries some double doors which are locked. She proceeds to run down another hallway. Wendy tries another locked door before running up a small flight of stairs. The killer jumps over the railing and swipes his axe at her but she ducks.

She continues through the gym and while walking backwards, ends up tripping over a gymnastics mat. She sees the killer entering and quickly gets up and runs through the remainder of the gym, the killer in fast pursuit even jumps over a small trampoline. Wendy continues to run down a long hallway until she reaches a large flight of stairs. She runs up them and when she gets to the top, sees the killer at the bottom who quickly follows.

She runs into a science classroom and hides behind a teacher's desk. The killer enters, looks around and leaves without finding her. She gets up and begins to walk backwards very cautiously but crashes into a body model and screams. This causes the killer to re-enter and she runs into a conjoined classroom. She then proceeds down a flight of stairs.

Wendy is now in an auto shop and stops in front of a car and looks around. She continues on and tries a locked door. She decides to hide in one of the cars that are in the auto shop. She tries a car but it is locked. She tries another which is luckily open and she hides inside.

The killer enters and searches the various cars. When he finds her, he tries the locked door before axing one of the windows. She gets out from the other side and grabs a broom. She runs into the killer and knocks him over with it. Wendy runs across another corridor and tries a padlocked door. She looks at the padlocks to see if she can unlock them. She then goes into the janitor's/storage room that is next to the locked door.

She breaks down and cries as she clutches the door handle. The killer is walking down the corridor. Wendy begins to hear a creaking noise and Kelly's body tumbles from a shelf. This causes Wendy to scream and exit the room. As she opens the door, the killer is standing right in front of her! He then kills her without showing mercy!
