Some soldiers burst into a room and open fire on another group of men. A man is killed. When a torch is passed over his body, one of his eyeballs can be seen hanging out of its socket where he was shot.

A pandemic causes billions to die from a flu virus which was originally designed to be a military bioweapon. Corpses can be seen littering the streets and buildings.

A few fistfights here and there.

The aftermath of a gunfight can be seen. The bodies are full of bloodied bullet holes.

The virus also kills animals. The corpses of sheep, birds and other animals can been seen. A character remarks how even elephants are being wiped out by the virus.

Some minor curse words like 'damn' and 'hell'.

Some scenes feature smoking and drinking.

The film has a grim tone throughout, especially since it deals with a dangerous bioweapon that acts like a flu virus. As scientists race to find a cure, billions die, cities are deserted and an impending nuclear disaster complicates things further.

There are two endings to the film depending on which version is watched. The abridged US version's ending is downright depressing, while the original uncut version is far more optimistic.
