Peter Yates' "Bullitt" is one of the most stylish cop flicks ever made. Those multi-screen opening credits designed by the great Pablo Ferro, that jazzily urbane Lalo Schifren score, those wildly cool outfits donned by Steve McQueen at the height of his laconic sexiness (some inspired by the suits sported by real life detective Dave Toschi) –- it's a stone groove punctuated by spasms of violence and, of course, a raucous car chase through the hilly streets of San Francisco. It's so ineffably pleasurable, you don't mind that the narrative is a sketchily plotted afterthought. Who needs an intricately structured story when you're watching, as Quentin Tarantino wrote in his book "Cinema Speculation," "one of the best directed movies ever made?"
You throw on "Bullitt" for the 1968-ness of it all (it's the apolitical flip-side of the coin to Haskell Wexler's roiling docudrama "Medium Cool"), as well as the...

Prior to "Gilligan's Island," Natalie Schafer had a professional acting career that lasted for decades. When she was still in her 20s, Schafer began appearing in numerous Broadway productions, often in smaller roles, and rarely in a play that ran for a very long time. She was an expert in playing a certain kind of high-society bourgeoisie biddy, and tended to play comedically clueless archetypes. Beginning in the 1940s, Schafer started to appear in films as well, appearing in multiple features a year. In the 1950s, she stretched into television, and was soon playing guest characters on many of the hottest anthology shows of the day.
At some point along the way, Shafer began telling people that she was 12 years younger than she actually was, likely hoping to avoid a stubborn, unjust stigma in Hollywood against older women. She had a stipulation in her contract that she receive no extreme closeups,...

Jason Ritter has a very specific impression of his late father’s iconic Three’s Company character in his repertoire.
Three’s Company premiered on ABC in March 1977, and ran a total of eight seasons. The sitcom’s original cast was comprised of John Ritter, Suzanne Somers, Joyce DeWitt, Norman Fell, Audra Lindley and Richard Kline, with Don Knotts, Jenilee Harrison and Priscilla Barnes joining the mix in later years.

The early 2010s were a fantastic and experimental time for television and film, where romantic comedies took the spotlight, and quirky character-driven shows were taking off. Within that mix came How I Met Your Mother, a series that somehow tiptoed the line between humor and heartache, wrapped in a seemingly endless parade of “Legend-wait for it-ary” catchphrases. The show had an undeniable charm, but its success was by no means guaranteed from the start.

Few could predict just how iconic one of its key players, Neil Patrick Harris’s Barney Stinson, would become. His role as the sharp-dressed, overly confident, womanizing character had audiences hooked, but Harris himself wasn’t so sure about taking the role. And yet, looking back at how he landed the job, it feels like an echo of those awkward, unsure moments we all experienced.

The Bold and the Beautiful (B&b) spoilers divulge that John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) and Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) have been to hell and back in their relatively brief marriage.
First Steffy was terrorized by Finn’s mom, Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown). Sheila went on to shoot the couple and left them for dead. Now the couple have to deal with more family issues, namely Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) drugging Steffy and throwing her in a cage.
Then there’s the Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) issue. Hope has a crush on Finn and kissed him in public. Despite all that drama, the Finnegan’s are solid. Or so they seem. Could there be trouble in paradise waiting just around the corner for these two? Definitely maybe!
The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers – Finn Finnegan’s Domestic Life Is Aces Right Now
Two returning characters could throw a monkey wrench into the couple’s bliss.

In May, Kaley Cuoco co-chaired and co-hosted An Evening From The Heart gala to benefit the John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health. Cuoco paid tribute to her former TV dad Ritter, who passed away during the run of the show, 8 Simple Rules. Cuoco shared that she still held on to one great piece of advice from the sitcom legend that made her a successful star in The Big Bang Theory.

The Big Bang Theory presented a stunning ensemble of actors. But in the world of television, where shows are premiered every now and then, comparisons are inevitable. The same happened to Tbbt as well in a past interview. Interestingly, the show was being compared to the likes of other sitcoms such as Three’s Company and Friends.

In 1955, on the stage of Broadway’s Alvin Theater, Andy Griffith and Don Knotts first bonded as they co-starred in the stage production of “No Times for Sergeants,” cementing a friendship that continued when they were both asked to reprise their stage roles in the 1958 Mervyn LeRoy film. Years later, when Knotts happened to learn about a TV project starring Griffith as a small town sheriff, he called up his old friend and asked “Don’t you think Sheriff Andy Taylor ought to have a deputy?” Griffith loved the idea, and television history was made.
Thanks to Knotts’ impeccable comic skills, Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife became one of television’s most beloved characters, an peacekeeper with loads of insecurities which he tries to cover up with a show of bravado that is both hilarious and endearing. His brilliant comic performance earned Knotts five consecutive Emmy Awards, which was unmatched at the time.

When How I Met Your Mother debuted in 2005, it became popular right away. Under the direction of Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the show featured Josh Radnor’s character Ted Mosby as he narrated his children the story of how he met their mother, captivating viewers with its unique narrative technique. In addition to Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris’s portrayal of the well-known womanizer Barney Stinson gave the show the necessary comic edge.

This article contains spoilers for Homicide: Los Angeles episode 1.
Phil Spector was a music legend and Los Angeles celebrity royalty. He revolutionized rock and roll with his “Wall of Sound” production, and went on to finalize The Beatles’ Let It Be. This means nothing to investigators on Homicide: Los Angeles. On Feb. 3, 2003, the body of Lana Clarkson, a 40-year-old actress and VIP Hostess of The House of Blues, was found dead in a chair in Spector’s foyer.
Netflix’s five-episode true crime docuseries fully covers the prosecutorial pursuit in one installment. Here’s what was condensed in discovery.

In 2019, Don Cheadle received his ninth career Emmy nomination for his work on the first season of Showtime’s “Black Monday.” Although he ultimately came up short in that year’s Best Comedy Actor race, he still made history as the 12th man to compete in that category as the star of multiple series, having previously earned four bids for the same network’s “House of Lies.” Scroll through our photo gallery to find out who else belongs to this special group.
Seven of the dozen actors on this roster took the gold for at least one of their nominated roles. This includes Richard Mulligan and Michael J. Also listed is John Ritter (“Three’s Company”; “Hooperman”; “8 Simple Rules”), who remains the only three-show nominee in the history of either comedy lead category.

Matlock (1986-1995) featured the late great Andy Griffith as attorney Ben Matlock, who solved cases and caught perpetrators in a charming, unassuming, and disarming way.
It was one of the most popular shows of the period and is still enjoyed by many in reruns and on streaming apps today, which is why the Matlock reboot has been much anticipated.
This new CBS crime drama based on it features the following season 1 cast members and characters.

“Spy x Family Code: White” is a fun, accessible jumping-on point for anyone unfamiliar with the “Spy x Family” anime, or the manga on which it’s based. However, in slowing down to let newcomers catch up, it tends to lack momentum. The plot isn’t strictly tied to the the comic or the show’s two seasons (it’s yet to be renewed for a third), but it picks up with the same basic premise: a found family with secret lives and abilities, which they keep guarded from one another, while a non-specific political conflict looms on the horizon.

American TV bosses obviously didn’t learn many lessons from “Episodes,” the Showtime/BBC co-production which brilliantly skewered the habit of adapting British sitcoms, and removing all nuances, subtleties, and idiosyncrasies in the process. In the 13 years since its premiere, there’s been numerous failed pilots (“Spy”), ratings disasters (“Free Agents”), and entire series considered unfit for public consumption (“Us and Them”) which originated across the pond. Now the most singular UK comedy of the 2010s is going transatlantic.
The BAFTA-nominated “Friday Night Dinner” — which served up 37 episodes from 2011-2020 —stemmed from creator Robert Popper’s real-life secular Jewish family and their weekly Shabbat meals, explaining why everything from its suburban London home to its lovable oddballs feels so wonderfully specific. Disappointingly, Amazon Freevee’s “Dinner with the Parents” is as generic as its title.
The 10-part series on Freevee does attempt to retain some of the original’s quirks.

In a recent episode of the Still Here Hollywood Podcast with Steve Kmetko, John Ritter’s widow, Amy Yasbeck, talked about how she orchestrated a reunion between her husband and Suzanne Somers after a long falling-out period.
The two starred opposite in the hit sitcom Three’s Company. Somers exited the show in season 5 in a salary dispute with producers.
“I didn’t do it in a sneaky way,” Yasbeck, 61, recalled to Kmetko of the reunion. “We were at the premiere of Victor/Victoria on Broadway [in 1995], and at the intermission, I went to the ladies room and all of a sudden, Suzanne is standing there next to me.”
She introduced herself, and Somers told her that she would be singing at the after-party.
At the after-party, Somers performed Can’t Dance, Don’t Ask Me, and Ritter went to her.

The premise of the 1977 sitcom "Three's Company" -- adapted from the 1973 British series "Man About the House" -- would likely never fly in 2024. Roommates Janet (Joyce DeWitt) and Chrissy (Suzanne Somers) require a third roommate to pay rent in their expensive Santa Monica apartment. They stumble across Jack Tripper (John Ritter), an aspiring culinary student whom they get along with. It so happens, though, that the building's landlord, Mr. Roper (Normal Fell), is ultra-conservative and refuses to let unmarried men and women share his apartments. To get around this contrived contingency, Janet and Chrissy tell Mr. Roper that Jack is gay. This satisfies the landlord but opens Jack up to homophobic jibes.
Fell eventually left the series and was replaced by the high-strung Mr. Furley, played by Don Knotts. Mr. Furley, it seems, required the charade to continue. Somers also left the show in its last two seasons and was...

The NBC sitcom "Night Court" was a satirical take on the zany and chaotic underworld of the midnight shift at the courthouse. With an unconventional, free-loving judge at the helm of this circus, there's no telling what might happen. The series was such a massive hit that it ran for nine whole seasons, featuring a cast of relatively unknown actors that, when assembled, formed one of the most acclaimed ensembles of all time. The show won eight Primetime Emmys and was nominated no less than 32 times. "Night Court" won in a variety of categories, but the actor that ended up taking home the most gold was John Larroquette, who played egotistical D.A. Dan Fielding.
A "Night Court" reboot landed on NBC in 2023. Sadly, few members of the original cast are still around to reprise their old roles, and the show is comprised almost entirely of new characters. Harry Anderson,...

Production design Oscar nominees “Barbie,” “Poor Things,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer,” “Napoleon” all competed for the 28th Art Directors Guild Awards February 10 at Ovation Hollywood’s Ray Dolby Ballroom. “Poor Things” prevailed over “Barbie” for fantasy, and is now in the driver’s seat to win the Oscar. Throughout the season, it has been a race between these two big feminist films constructed around rebirth and unconventional world-building.

Hank Bradford, head writer for “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” and “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers,” died Jan. 18 in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure, his family said. He was 88.
Bradford served as Carson’s head writer from 1970-75.
“As head writer on The Tonight Show, he was admired and beloved by his fellow writers for both his pitch-perfect sense of humor and his relatively-sane leadership style in a job (and profession) which tended toward the weird and chaotic,” Bradford’s family said in a prepared obituary. “Above his desk at The Tonight Show was a sign that read: ‘It left here funny.’”
Bradford later served as head writer for “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers” between 1986 and 1987. He also wrote episodes for “Mash” and “Three’s Company.”
Before becoming a staff writer, Bradford began his career as a comic. He appeared at nightclubs and opened the show for...

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was a major moment in vampire media, but the show didn't limit itself to fanged heartthrobs. Buffy fought her fair share of demons and deities, but there was one type of villain that kept popping up throughout the hit series' seven seasons — robots. Probably the most memorable robot in the show is the Buffybot, a robot girlfriend commissioned by bad-boy vamp Spike to quench his unrequited crush. But before Buffybot, the android that started it all was Ted.
Ted is, by all appearances, your run-of-the-mill middle-aged man from suburbia, and he's dating Buffy's mom in the season 2 episode "Ted." He manages to win all of her friends over, but Buffy isn't having it. As it turns out, her suspicions are proven correct — Ted was a killer robot all along.

Actor James Franco once produced his own interpretation of the hit sitcom Three’s Company. Joyce DeWitt would soon hear about Franco’s take on the hit sitcom, which she couldn’t see.

Many have floated around the idea of a Three’s Company reboot. But years ago, Franco actually brought a Three’s Company reboot to Sundance. The Spider-Man star’s version of the sitcom was a more dramatic take, however, which was inspired by his own memories of the show.
“I was just thinking, back in the day, when people were watching that show, people were probably sitting in their living room watching these other people in their living room, so I thought, let’s suck the audience into their living room and then there’s projections on all four walls,...

This year’s Emmy Awards were all about TV reunions, while audiences around the country got to see the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Cheers” reunite, there were some unofficial ones that didn’t make the live broadcast.
Take the “Yellowjackets” cast and crew, who got back together before the show started.
The show was nominated for two Emmys including best drama series and lead actress in a drama for Melanie Lynskey. Hours before the show aired, the teen cast including Liv Hewson, Courtney Eaton, Sophie Nélisse, Sammi Hanratty and Kevin Alves had gathered in the lobby, chatting and taking selfies before doors to the main theater were open. They were joined by Warren Kole and later director Karyn Kusama and showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, as well as Tawny Cypress.
Yes, season 3 is being written and the show is expected to be back in production in late May.

What began as a single segment titled “Love and the Television Set” on the anthology series “Love, American Style,” grew to become a top ten sitcom that lasted 11 seasons and defined “cool” for a generation. Set in 1950s Milwaukee, “Happy Days” debuted on January 15, 1974, and, although it was only a moderate success initially, became one of the most iconic TV series of its time.
Ron Howard was already a well-known TV star from his days as Opie Taylor on “The Andy Griffith Show,” so it’s not surprising this series centered around his all-American teenage character Richie Cunningham and his middle-class family. In fact, Howard’s appearance in the “Love, American Style” episode led to his casting by George Lucas in the equally nostalgic “American Graffiti” in 1973 — the success of which prompted ABC to pick up “Happy Days.” But it was the character of greaser Arthur “Fonzie” Fonzarelli (Henry Winkler...

Actor John Ritter hoped to realize the same success he had in Three’s Company with his spin-off show Three’s a Crowd. But certain decisions made with the program didn’t sit well with a section of the show’s audience.
What fans didn’t like about John Ritter’s ‘Three’s a Crowd’ John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and Suzanne Somers | ABC Photo Archives/Getty Images
Three’s Company enjoyed an incredible run for the eight seasons it ran on air. At its peak, the series was both a ratings and critical juggernaut, earning its cast and crew accolades like the Emmys and Golden Globes. Even after losing one of their key actors, the late Suzanne Somers, the show continued its momentum. Jenilee Harrison was brought on board to pick up where Somers left off, fitting right in with Ritter and Joyce DeWitt.
But Three’s Company lost considerable steam during its final season.

Jamie Lee Curtis Drew Inspiration From This ‘Three’s Company’ Star for Her ‘Freaky Friday’ Character
Actor Jamie Lee Curtis had to rely on a lot of physical comedy for her role in Freaky Friday. So, the star took a cue from this Three’s Company alum to inform her performance.
How this ‘Three’s Company’ star affected Jamie Lee Curtis’ ‘Freaky Friday’ performance John Ritter, Suzanne Somers, Joyce Dewitt | ABC Photo Archives/Getty Images
Curtis had the chance to show off her comedic chops by doing the 2003 feature Freaky Friday. The movie saw Curtis and Lohan playing a mother and daughter who switched bodies. In a resurfaced interview with Phase 9, Curtis asserted that Freaky Friday might’ve been the most successful feature she made at the time. The project fell in Curtis’ lap during a period where she was exploring interests other than acting. But apart from liking the film’s script, everything about Freaky Friday accommodated Curtis’ situation. In the end, Curtis felt she had to do the movie.

Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers passed away on October 15 at the age of 76, and we now know the official cause of death. According to the death certificate obtained by The Blast, Somers died from breast cancer that had metastasized to the brain. The immediate cause of death was listed as “breast cancer with metastasis to the brain,” with hypertension and hydrocephalus also noted as contributing factors. The Mayo Clinic says, “Hydrocephalus is the buildup of fluid in cavities called ventricles deep within the brain. The excess fluid increases the size of the ventricles and puts pressure on the brain.” Somers’ death certificate states the actress had been battling hydrocephalus for over a year. In July 2022, she was given an “intracerebral ventricular shunt” to treat the condition and help remove excess fluid from her brain. The former Step By Step actress was first diagnosed with breast cancer in her 50s after...

Jennifer Aniston’s no stranger to kissing co-stars. She’s done it many times throughout her career, locking lips with her friend and co-star Adam Sandler three times alone. In what just might be one of her most memorable on-screen smooches, she kissed then-teenager Will Poulter in a scene from 2013’s We’re the Millers. How Aniston felt about kissing her young co-star. Plus, why Poulter later admitted to being “very sorry” about the whole thing.

Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers made no secret of her dreams for a new version of the classic sitcom that made her a TV icon. The actor, who died on Oct. 15 at age 76, had floated an idea for a new show that would incorporate a hologram version of her late co-star John Ritter and also gave the thumbs up to the idea of Jennifer Aniston playing the Chrissy Snow character. But despite the talk, there are no plans (that we know of) to make a Three’s Company reboot a reality.

Jennifer Lopez’s movie career spans decades, but her filmography isn’t solely made up of critically acclaimed box office hits and award winners. Like many other actors, she’s starred in a few flops. According to Rotten Tomatoes, one stands out among the rest as Lopez’s worst movie. The answer, perhaps no surprise to anyone who lived through the early aughts, is Gigli.
Rotten Tomatoes has ‘Gigli’ as Jennifer Lopez’s worst movie
Lopez’s worst movie is none other than 2003’s Gigli, per Rotten Tomatoes. The comedy, which she starred in alongside her now-husband, Ben Affleck, marked the end of the original Bennifer era.
After getting to know each other during filming, romance blossomed between Affleck and Lopez, culminating in an engagement (Remember J.Lo’s pink ring?) and, eventually, a canceled wedding.

Particularly in the age of streaming, it's hard to imagine another show living a life like the one that "Three's Company" did throughout the late '70s and early '80s. Spanning eight seasons and more than 170 episodes, it's the kind of run that relatively few scripted TV shows can ever claim, but especially now. It also made absolute stars of its cast, perhaps most notably Suzanne Somers, who recently passed away at the age of 76. She played the lovable Chrissy Snow alongside John Ritter's Jack Tripper and Joyce DeWitt's Janet Wood. But it turns out that Somers' life-changing casting happened essentially by accident.
Former President of ABC Entertainment Fred Silverman, speaking in an archival interview shared by the FoundationINTERVIEWS YouTube channel, discussed his lengthy career in television. When the subject of "Three's Company" came up, the executive explained that he "was very involved in the casting of Suzanne Somers.

One fictional apartment in Santa Monica, California is a little less funny now. Suzanne Somers passed away at the age of 76 on October 15, 2023. She was one of the main cast members in the 1970s/80s series "Three's Company" alongside John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt, playing the joyful and (as much as I hate this word) ditzy Christmas "Chrissy" Snow. As someone who watched the show as a very tiny person, I've seen most of the episodes. What I didn't know was that Somers was also playing another character, hiding in plain sight the whole time.
"Three's Company" was based on the British show "Man About the House," and ran on ABC from 1977-1984, with Somers playing her role in seasons 1-5, leaving after contract negotiations failed. The show centered around two women, Chrissy Snow and Janet Wood (DeWitt), who lose their roommate and need someone to take over her portion of the rent.

It’s hard to overstate the late 1970s stardom of Suzanne Somers, who died on Oct. 15 in Palm Springs at 76. “Three’s Company” made Somers one of the most popular faces on TV, thanks to Chrissy Snow, the naive and charming character she played on the ABC sitcom. Somers fought for equal pay decades before it became a rallying cry for female actors — and she wound up getting fired for it. But Somers bounced back with TV series like “She’s the Sheriff” and “Step by Step,” and became a ubiquitous author and TV pitch woman. Perhaps even more importantly, she inspired a new generation of stars — including Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. Here, the ‘Masked Singer’ panelist, SiriusXM host and performer pays tribute to her mentor and longtime friend.

Name a classic show and, for all its success, you're likely to find a mess of behind-the-scenes drama between the network and its star actor(s). The acclaimed hit series "Three's Company" was no different, although the reason for why late star Suzanne Somers was ultimately fired from the production more than halfway through the show's acclaimed run is certain to raise eyebrows. In fact, it remains every bit as insidious now as it was at the time.

The family of Suzanne Somers is grappling with their loss. Just a day after her death at age 76, her son Bruce Somers, Jr. shared a heartstring-tugging tribute to the Three’s Company actress.
“She soared higher than most can dream. She protected those who didn’t have a voice. She asked the questions most didn’t know to ask,” Bruce wrote. “She shared her challenges and brought light to solutions. To so many, she was a brave warrior who articulated their fears. She wasn’t fearless, but she faced them so we could learn.

She asked the questions most didn’t know to ask,” Bruce wrote. “She shared her challenges and brought light to solutions. To so many, she was a brave warrior who articulated their fears. She wasn’t fearless, but she faced them so we could learn.

Lara Parker, who found the role of a lifetime at just 28 years old when she was cast by Dark Shadows producer Dan Curtis as the beautiful, vengeful and altogether evil witch Angelique Bouchard Collins, died October 12 in her sleep in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer. She was 84.
Her death was announced by producer Jim Pierson of Dan Curtis Productions, on behalf of Parker’s family.
“I’m heartbroken, as all of us are who knew and loved her,” said her Dark Shadows co-star and longtime friend Kathryn Leigh Scott in a statement. “She graced our lives with her beauty, talent and friendship, and we are all richer for having had her in our lives.”
Parker, who also authored four popular Dark Shadows-related novels from 1998-2016, arrived on the supernatural soap opera in 1967, not long after Canadian actor Jonathan Frid had been cast as vampire Barnabas Collins. Frid...

Actor Suzanne Somers had big plans to celebrate turning 77 – one idea was to pose for Playboy once again. But the enduring actor died a day shy of her birthday after a decades-long battle with an aggressive form of breast cancer.
Despite facing illness for many years, Somers joyfully embraced her age and worked tirelessly to maintain her health. In April, she said she was ready for just about anything.
“I haven’t pursued it, but it’s on the bucket list,” she said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “How interesting that would be? I look good without my clothes on.”
When did Suzanne Somers pose in Playboy?
Somers posed for Playboy twice in the past, in 1980 and 1984. At the time, her pictorial was considered to be somewhat “scandalous” because Hollywood stars didn’t readily pose for the magazine. She shared why she posed the first time.
