After a brief prologue that promises – both via text and voiceover – a dramatization of the true story of the final killings of the most unique American serial killer of the 21st century, we are treated to a mesmerizing opening titles sequence set to a rendition of "Love Hurts," featuring a woman (Willa Fitzgerald) running through the woods in red scrubs. The next chapter introduces us to the man chasing her – flannel clad, aviators wearing, moustache rocking Kyle Gallner, whose character is referred to in the credits as The Demon. Strange Darling is the second feature by the writer/ director Jt Mollner, following Outlaws and Angels (2016), a revisionist take on western. It stands to reason to suggest that Strange Darling somewhat plays...

On Sunday, Broadway stepped out for its biggest night as the Tony Awards celebrated the year’s best talent live from the United Palace in New York City. The ceremony was hosted by stage star-turned-Oscar winner Ariana DeBose in a three-hour ceremony that aired at 8/7c on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

Has there ever been a less predictable Tony Awards?
Just a few weeks ago there were doubts that a televised ceremony would even happen, due to the ongoing WGA strike. That problem proved to be just a speed bump: The guild agreed not to picket the show, but the show will include no scripts, no pre-written introductions or podium banter. There will be the usual musical numbers from the nominated shows — the heart of the ceremony — as well as some additional performances, tributes to John Kander and Joel Grey, the traditional In Memoriam segment and, well, we’ll all just have to wait and see for the rest.

There’s a shadow hanging over the 2023 Tony Awards, and we don’t just mean the WGA strike, which nearly derailed Broadway’s biggest night. In a Broadway season boasting three nonbinary actors in major musical roles, the Tonys continue to require performers to submit themselves in either of the gendered actor and actress categories.
Both Some Like It Hot’s J. Harrison Ghee and Shucked’s Alex Newell are frontrunners in the categories they selected, while Justin David Sullivan, who would have been eligible in one of the featured performer categories for & Juliet, removed themselves from consideration early in the season. This year, the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Awards, which recognize both Broadway and Off Broadway productions, shed their gendered performance categories, allowing recent wins at both ceremonies for Ghee and Newell in all-gender fields.
If Ghee and Newell repeat those victories at the Tonys, it’ll...

A Blue Demon Jr. Lucha Libre Universe is in the works. Candle Media’s Exile Content Studio and L.A.-based film company Moxie 88 have joined forces to produce a range of content based on Mexican wrestling icon, Blue Demon Jr.
The new 360-degree pact aims to expand the use of Blue Demon Jr.’s likeness in the areas of film, television, animation and merchandising on a worldwide scale.
As the adopted son of Blue Demon, the legendary 1950s Mexican wrestling (Lucha Libre) icon who inspired hundreds of comic books and nearly 30 feature films, Blue Demon Jr. has continued the noble tradition, stamping his own style on the wildly popular sport. He became the first Mexican and second masked wrestler to claim the prestigious Nwa World Heavyweight Championship and has sold out shows at Madison Square Garden.
Not unlike a superhero, Blue Demon Jr.’s mask represents justice and an unwavering pursuit of righteousness.

Plot: A young man struggling with a broken heart learns that his new place is full of restless spirits.
Review: Breakups are tough and have been the fodder for movie plots since the dawn of celluloid. Yet there’s something about Sorry About The Demon that feels very unique. Probably the way it takes the feeling of a breakup and twists the knife with humor. Because imagine going through a bad breakup and being so in the dumps that even the demon that inhabits the house you’re renting doesn’t want your soul. You can see where the laughs are aplenty.
Sorry About The Demon opens with a family being haunted by a demon. They’re told that the demon won’t leave unless they sacrifice someone. Their solution is to have a friendless loser move into the house. This immediately won me because it’s such a ridiculous...

Are you freaking kidding me?
Olicity fans rejoice! After being apart for a majority of the season, Arrow Season 7 Episode 8 featured the reunion of Oliver and Felicity.
And for five sweet seconds, it was beautiful. Olicity may have a few haters, but for those of us who have ridden through the highs and lows of this 'ship, it seemed as though Olicity was finally going back to the way things used to be.
However, that tender love scene could potentially be the last time Oliver and Felicity get it on. Arrow threw a lot of curveballs on the last non-crossover episode of the Fall season, but that one had me shaking my head in utter disbelief.
Did Oliver and Felicity break up? Wtf? That didn't just happen, did it? Olicity's supposed to be endgame, aren't they? Does love even exist? What did I just watch?

This fall, it seems like The CW really has prison break fever. I mean, not only did Archie Andrews escape from a juvenile detention center during last night’s stellar episode of Riverdale, but it also appears as though Arrow‘s Oliver Queen will say “peace out” and liberate himself from Supermax lockup in less than two weeks from now.
The reason I’m saying this is because the previously teased “The Slabside Redemption” is creeping up on us rather quickly, and you probably don’t need me to tell you how revealing that episode title is. And if that weren’t enough, this freshly released synopsis will do nothing but increase anticipation levels:
James Bamford Directs An Epic Episode — Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a choice that will affect his entire life, as well as the lives of everyone he cares about. James Bamford directed the episode written by Jill Blankenship...

The Flash takes on the villainous Rag Doll!
This The Flash review contains spoilers.
The Flash Season 5 Episode 5
I'm worried that I'm starting to sound more like a broken record than usual, but I'm just gonna lay it out here one more time up front. If "All Doll'd Up" is an example of what an "off" week for The Flash season 5 is going to look like, then I think we are going to be just fine this year. This season has so far successfully balanced its necessary metas of the week with its main story (Barry/Iris/Nora) and its secondary story (Sherloque/Cisco/Caitlin), and I have yet to feel shortchanged by any of it. Even the villains of the week, often the bane of this show when not dealing with more recognizable Flash rogues have worked well in the context of the episode, and this week, the Rag...

“The Demon” doesn’t break any new ground for Arrow. In fact, much of this episode repeats major themes and even memorable lines that we’ve seen before on the show in seasons past. Talia’s reappearance brings Oliver’s Man vs. the Monster debate from Season 5 back to the forefront, and when the former Green Arrow battles against Dr. Parker and his goons, who repeatedly tell him that he’s nothing more than “Inmate 4587,” he responds with Oliver’s battle cry from the Season 3 finale, the same one that he uttered at Ra’s al Ghul when he insisted that he was Al

In my view, Arrow‘s seventh season aired its best and most exciting episode yet earlier this evening. I mean, not only was it intriguing and delivered some cool fight scenes, but this installment revealed the mysterious “Demon” to be Talia al Ghul in very short order.
Of course, one could say this was an obvious solution, though you can never be too sure. After all, we hadn’t seen anything from the master assassin since Lian Yu went up in flames at the end of season 5. But after hearing how she survived and ran afoul of someone in Gotham (probably Batwoman), Ms. al Ghul ended up taking up residence in the same prison as Oliver Queen.
Difficult as it had to have been, Ollie did help his former mentor escape from Slabside so that she may get vital information to Felicity, yet he opted to stay behind and not become a fugitive.

This week on The CW’s Arrow, Oliver allied with a dead person (!) in his bid to survive Level Two, while Team Felicity (the name is being workshopped) made its own contribution to the effort.
Earmarked for “Phase 2” of Level Two, Oliver is outfitted with a cuff that subjects him to electrocution if he misbehaves. “You belong to me now,” says the bull in charge, warning that Inmate 4587 is about to head “down the rabbit hole.” That night, Oliver is awoken by an intruder in his cell: Talia al Ghul, who landed in Slabside after “running afoul of an old foe in Gotham.

This week’s episode, “The Demon” (airing Monday at 8/7c), is named after the elusive and ominous fellow inmate who Oliver (played by Stephen Amell) has been told has the goods on Diaz. To get face time with The Demon, Oliver needed to get himself transferred to Level Two of Slabside, so he assaulted a series of guards.
But upon arriving in the cellblock reserved for “the worst of the worst,” Oliver was emotionally and psychologically poked and prodded by a Dr.

Sometimes, when actors enjoy extended stays on a given TV series, the Powers That Be allow them a shot at directing. And although not everyone may be interested in pulling double duty, some are thrilled to try their hand at something different.
Similar to how Tom Cavanagh got behind the camera while filming The Flash‘s 100th episode, Arrow‘s own David Ramsey has been confirmed to do likewise for his own show. And according to Green Arrow TV, we’ll all get to see him showcase his talent whenever episode 7×11, “Past Sins,” gets to air, which’ll be sometime in early 2019. Written by Onalee Hunter Hughes and Tonya Kong, one would imagine a January debut to be more than likely.
Luckily for us, Ramsey was generous enough to share a special behind-the-scenes image on his Instagram page, which can be seen below. Actually, it’s split in two, as...

John Barrowman has confirmed that he’s returning to Arrow later on in season 7. The former Doctor Who and Torchwood star is currently attending Supanova in Brisbane, Australia and according to Spoiler TV, he told the crowd during a panel that we can expect to see him back as Malcolm Merlyn on The CW DC show in the near future. Apparently, he might even make the news public tonight on his Instagram feed.
Here’s what Stv’s source says:
“John Barrowman just revealed during a Torchwood panel that he is returning to Arrow later this season. He says that he might post a reveal on Instagram later tonight.”
Barrowman began his journey on the show’s first season as Oliver Queen’s original nemesis, Dark Archer. He then stuck around for subsequent seasons in more of an anti-hero or supporting villain role, increasingly in the capacity as the biological father of Oliver’s sister,...

If anything, the current season of Arrow is making for some strange bedfellows. With Oliver Queen now being behind bars, the rest of Star City’s costumed club have moved on with their lives in various ways, though not all of them are adjusting to civilian life as well.
Obviously, the person taking Ollie’s incarceration hardest is that of his wife, Felicity Smoak, who’s been behaving in atypical fashion of late. I guess when you feel as though you have nothing left to lose you’re not going to be the same man or woman you were before.
Based on the gallery of images promoting next week’s episode, “The Demon,” Felicity will manage to put aside any hard feelings when she, Dinah Drake and Earth-2’s Laurel Lance work in unison to free Oliver from Slabside. Already, the women more commonly known as Black Canary and Black...

Is this show still called Arrow?
After Arrow Season 7 Episode 4, I'm not so sure because the main focus on "Level Two" wasn't our beloved protagonist Oliver Queen or even Green Arrow 2.0.
Instead, this episode focused one-third of its screen time on Dinah of all people. It could be argued that Dinah is one of the most boring characters on Arrow. No matter how many times they've tried to make us care about her, I just can't seem to find a reason to care.
When she and Laurel looked to be starting a friendship on Arrow Season 7 Episode 2, I saw some potential in Dinah that I hadn't yet seen. However, after this episode, I'm once again super done with her.
She does well when she isn't given so much to handle, but when Dinah is tasked with carrying an episode, it reminds me how much of a snooze she can be.

If anything, tonight’s episode of Arrow showed us how the flash forwards are quickly becoming more intriguing than whatever’s going on in the present. I mean, when Roy Harper gives us a tour of a dystopic future where Dinah Drake is an aging Black Canary and has taken Wild Dog’s daughter under her wing, how can you not expect me to favor that unfolding mystery?
Still, there’s no guarantee of that being explored next week, as the first promo for “The Demon” focuses entirely on Oliver Queen’s ongoing misfortunes. After being subjected to some psychiatric “rehabilitation” by Slabside’s top shelf shrink in “Level Two,” our hero seems as though he’s ready to lose his marbles.
Considering how the footage provided shows him ready to kick some serious ass, it’s fair to say he’ll be doing more than sitting on a bench seven days from now.

Last month, when it was revealed that this season of Arrow would include an episode titled “The Demon,” I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who immediately thought of the League of Assassins. I mean, Matt Nable’s iteration of Ra’s al Ghul may be dead and so, too, is his successor in Malcolm Merlyn, but Nyssa al Ghul is still out there somewhere. And though Talia is presumed dead after season 5’s finale, I must remind you that we never saw a body.
Well, now that the official synopsis for said episode has arrived, I’m not so sure if the connection can still be made because there’s no hint of anyone from the al Ghul lineage being involved. Here, take a look for yourself:
Felicty Discovers A Secret About Oliver; Curtis Goes Undercover — Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) learns something new about Oliver (Stephen Amell) that shocks her.

A product of a small-town upbringing, director Tathagata Ghosh created a name for himself by bringing real-world experiences into his work which is continued in his latest short “The Demon (Doitto).” Inspired by real-life instances of abuse by the authorities and channeled into the characters of his latest release, the short makes several powerful statements about police corruption and abuse of authority in Indian cinemas, using many of his familiar collaborators to tell his story.
When a homeless man (Soumya Majumdar) from a remote Bengal countryside claims to have witnessed the abduction and murder of his baby girl, morally flawed and burnt out homicide detective Pablo Bose (Shataf Figar) must interrogate him thoroughly before a serial killer, preying on infants across the state, takes down his next victim.
From the start, its most interesting facet is the strong story. A piece about the murdering and kidnapping of a child is a powerful statement,...

To this point, it’s become quite common for Arrow‘s biggest of bads to return even after they’ve enjoyed ample time in the spotlight. If you’ll recall, Malcolm Merlyn stuck around for quite a while after season 1, Deathstroke sporadically popped up here and there to both confound and team up with Oliver Queen, and Damien Darhk played a huge part over on Legends of Tomorrow. Heck, even the deceased Prometheus has come back as a hallucination.
Already, we’ve become aware of how the Longbow Hunters will factor into season 7, but it’d be unwise to think the producers don’t have any other cards hidden up their sleeves. In fact, it’s very possible that we’ll see the return of none other than Ra’s al Ghul.
According to Spoiler TV, episode 7.05 will be titled “The Demon,” so you can certainly understand why people are...

This week sees a ton of genre movies coming out on DVD and Blu- Ray. The biggest being Predators, followed up by the remake of the cult classic Night of the Demons, a sequel to Mirrors, and Anniversary editions for Rocky Horror Picture Show and Psycho. Add to that a slew of indie and classic horror and there is a lot to choose from.
Predators
Directed by Nimród Antal
Robert Rodriguez presents Predators, a bold new chapter in the Predator universe. Adrien Brody stars as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors mysteriously brought together on a jungle planet. But when these cold-blooded human “predators” find themselves in all-out war against a new breed of alien Predators, it’s the ultimate showdown between hunter and prey. Predators also star Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Walton Goggins, Danny Trejo, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Oleg Taktarov, and Louis Ozawa Changchien.

The number of home video releases on October 19th is not as abundant as in recent weeks, and fewer re-released titles means those that are available are much more special. In this batch one Adrien Brody flick competes with another, and at least two independent horror titles are making a splash. Two beloved classic films return in Blu-ray where one is supplemented by a documentary treatment of it.
Also, don't forget to strum & drum out with some tunes from Rob Zombie on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, foreign horror gives us an over-the-top Japanese gorefest, a British zombie flick where the $70 budget was spent on tea and biscuits for the zombies, and Norwegian black metal.
