Goofy but endearing Turkish comedy thriller
Leofwine_draca14 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
An amusing, sometimes hilarious Turkish thriller packed with tons of action and heavy doses of comedy in the slapstick mould. Director Natuck Baytan is known for his fast-paced, light hearted and action-packed movies and THREE SUPERGUYS IN THE SNOW - which was incidentally re-titled to fit in with another Italian film series - is no exception. Although the film does take a little while to get going, once it settles down into the comedy routine/action formula it becomes a highly engaging little flick which is occasionally funny with it.

The film initially begins by introducing our central trio of con-men and robbers. Their favourite money-making routines is to shoot each other with blanks, pretending to be dead, and then taking money to dispose of the corpses instead pocketing it for themselves. The fun really begins when the unlucky trio attempt to get themselves thrown in prison (cue lots of comedy antics as they attempt to break the law and have all manner of trouble doing so). Once inside they quickly try to befriend an ageing bank robber who they adopt as a father to try and discover the whereabouts of his hidden stash of loot. The 'father' character is, however, just as conniving as the youngsters and won't easily give out the details. His character is easy to spot as he bears an uncanny resemblance to an elder Sean Connery, with the same lecherous manner! To make matters worse a gang of greasy gangsters (led by a great bad guy who closely resembles Lurch the butler from THE ADDAMS FAMILY) also want to get their sweaty hands on the loot.

After breaking out of jail - by hiding in dustbins - the movie becomes one long fight scene after another. Each fight is accompanied by exaggerated sound effects, overacting, cool stunts from the main actors, and zany music to give it a cartoonish feel. My favourite scene is the bizarrely-dubbed battle played out in the Turkish baths! Finally the action shifts to some ski scopes (hence the re-titling), but it's not over yet and plenty more double-crosses and surprise plot twists develop before the credits briefly role. The three men playing the leads may not be supermen, dressing instead as everyday folk, but all are good in their demanding roles, getting the manners down perfectly, and they prove themselves more than athletic enough to cope with the demanding stunts and moves that the action falls for. Plus you have the solid character support and some quirky political/battle of the sexes type humour, and the end result is an appealingly goofy cross between comedy antics and fast-paced martial arts-style action.

a film that deserves respect ...
turkic4 April 2010
Films released in 1977, Turkey and Iran Italian joint work, according to the time with pretty good action sequences, this construction, type of action comedy, jokes today better than most feature films, very successful actors, Alberto Dell'Acqua especially in action sequences very well, this movie very much like in dubbing the voice of art in Turkey is already successful in this work were also marked by foreign players had excellent dubbing.

This film Do respect, some film critics with films such ridicule and scorn to do but was 33 years and still the fans to watch a production, much that is new and the name of anyone not remember a lot of feature films that are known by everyone.

Iranian cinema of the major players Rezabeyk İmanverdi film making fun of the most important player in this movie to Turkish cinema has become a hallmark, but never did not come forward in a lot of artists takes place, leading the player Tarik Akan film more romantic comedy and although the action type of film would be successful proved.

This is a lovely film co-production, I would recommend to anyone.

TEUFELSKERL Franchise, Part 4
ZeddaZogenau24 October 2023
Fourth part of the Teufelskerl series

The devils staged by Ernst Hofbauer had already arrived in Istanbul with the third part ("Two devils on the way to Istanbul"). The beating continued in the Yesilcam studios there. The Turkish film industry was at times the third largest film industry in the world in the 1970s. Mainly successful films from Hollywood and Cinecitta were "creatively" imitated. The original music was often treated very profitably without paying annoying royalties. :-)

This beating flick is also known in German-speaking countries as "Drei Teufelskerle lachen alles nieder / Three Devils Laughing Everything Down", in Italy as "Mettetemi in galera" and in the USA as "The Three Superboys in the Snow". The original cast included the acrobatic Alberto Dell'Acqua as Arti. Wolf Goldan had already dropped out since the third part. But with the attractive Tarik Akan as Homer and the beefy Beyk Imanverdi (listed here as Jim Gordon) as Jim, there was powerful reinforcement.

As always in the films of the TEUFELSKERL series, the actual plot is not worth mentioning. The small-time crooks Arti and Homer get by with charm and tough fists. Then they find out that a certain Jafar (Öztürk Serengil) has embezzled and hidden a lot of money. Even though he's in prison, he doesn't want to reveal where he's hiding. Together with the assertive Jim, the two day thieves approach Jafar in prison in order to gain his trust. When they finally know where the loot is and the good-for-nothings are out again, the gang boss Smerlock (Hüseyin Alp) and his henchmen also want to get their hands on the money. So there are enough reasons for a number of fights in which the three devils can beat up countless opponents to their heart's content. In prison, in the hammam, in a laundry and even in the snow, there are crazy fights in which the three Superboys of course always come out on top. But the smart guys also know how to use a woman's weapons in a targeted manner. So they cause a lot of laughs in women's costumes, which was particularly well received by the Turkish cinema audience at the time. Of course, it won't be revealed here whether they can get the money they're looking for with all of these skills...

So don't expect a masterpiece here. Of course not! What's important in this film is that there are a lot of funny beating scenes. Alberto Dell'Acqua impresses again with his circus-ready agility. Beyk Imanverdi gives a strong performance. A big surprise is the smart Tarik Akan (1949-2016), who not only impresses as a dashing womanizer, but can also hit hard. Tarik Akan has had a very interesting career in Turkish film. He also played the main role in "Yol - The Path", which was awarded the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1982. So a really good actor as a fist-swinging devil who could also make a mark in the ArtHouseCinema!

After this film, the TEUFELSKERL series was finally over. The spectators were tired of the brawls. From now on, the originals Bud Spencer and Terence Hill had no competition when it came to spanking movies.
