Sharkey reconsiders reenlisting when his new commanding officer turns out to be a woman

Sharkey is accused of discrimination by a Japanese recruit.

Sharkey tries to help a recruit write a break up letter but is called away before finishing the task. Robinson sees the unfinished note and assumes that his buddy Sharkey is suffering heartbreak.

The trainees have some free time and an inflatable woman appears as a gag. But they can't let the air out and must hide it in the barracks from Sharkey. But he's suspicious of their behavior and stays vigilant.

It's Sharkey's birthday and is disappointed that he only gets gag gifts. Sharkey is persuaded to head to the local disco to cheer up and finds himself popular on the dance floor.

After continual interruptions, Sharkey gets an apartment off base.

Recruit Plunkett has been in a foul mood after since his marriage ended and it's affecting morale. Sharkey decides the antidote is to arrange double dates for himself and Plunkett which leads to troubles.

Misunderstandings leave the men thinking Sharkey is gay.

Sharkey seems to relish denying the men a celebration after the completion of boot camp. But when the food and other party favors arrive Sharkey is forced to reluctantly reconsider.

When a homeless drunk enters the barracks and makes himself at home, Sharkey is livid. And nothing that the men do dislodges the man from his comfy quarters.
