The character of Joe (Fred J. Lincoln) had the same first name of the type of "Dragnet" character he was parodying, Joe Friday.
The film is also well known by another title other than its American name Case of the Full Moon Murders (1973) which is "The Case of the Smiling Stiffs".
Publicity for the picture promoted it as the "the first sex-rated whodunit".
When the financing ran out on the film co-director Sean S. Cunningham had to complete the project on his own without co-director Brud Talbot.
