I have only ever seen this movie in French under the tit;e YUKA but there are many other "releases" with different titles. So... YUKA LES EPLOITES EROTIQUE DE MACISTE DANS ATLANTIDE SEXES AU SOLEIL MACISTE CONTRO LA REINE DES AMAZONES LUSTFUL AMAZONES Les Gloutonnes AMAZONS FOR TWO ADVENTURERS and THE GOBBLERS which was the working title as the Amazons were very 'lustful". Directed by Jess Franco, I don't think I have to introduce the man. Known for gore, XXX flicks and ultra trash flicks. This flick here is OOP and only available on VHS, the hunt is out for the VML Dutch Video which I just saw.

It's a perfect example why Jess is so much loved but also hated. It really had nothing to offer. It was just made to show girls walking around naked. Typical Jess.

The main lead was done by Wal Davis, it was his first flick but he never made it into the film business and stopped in 1977. In fact I won't go to deep into the acting because none of them was worth watching. It's really as wooden as it could be but one thing to notice is the fact that Lina Romay was involved here as Yuka. This was one of her first flicks but she really made it into the European horror and exploitation flicks, too many to mention. She wasn't afraid to show her body and even posed for men magazines. The funny thing is that she married Jess Franco in 2008, and made her last flick with him Paula-Paula (2010) just before she died in 2012 from cancer. She was even seen in the porn flick Angel Of Death 2 (2007) from Andreas Bethmann where even Jess had a short appearance.

It's easy to see what is going to happen with the island full of Amazons. Funny to see the bad acting and the gratuitous nudity. A turkey is the god they are talking too made from wood which replies...

No gore at all, there are a few killings but with no money affects at all. Just one to see for the juggs and hairy pussies. Also contains mail nudity from Wal Davis.

When Jesus Franco decided to make a MACISTE movie, he wanted to cast Mark Forest in the title role but the Italian agent got Steve Forest signed for the role instead. Well you can image the phone calls after this mix up. (from a fan mag, 1986). Continental Film Review CFR, covered the release of this movie in Sept, 1975, called AMAZON COUNTRY, IS A MAN'S COUNTRY. This was the first time that I every heard of this movie. I have only ever been able to find a copy in French. The movie was filmed in Portugal. Larry Anderson
